I've been thinking about buying one for some time now but as you say they are expensive. I don't want to spend all that money on yet another gadget to sit gathering dust in the cupboard
Although I guess I could sell my brand-new-in-the-box-unused deep fat fryer to help pay for it!
Would be interested to hear from more people as to how useful it is and can you cook more than just chips in it?“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -
Dorry lots more on this thread

Under £100 in Costco(just), close to £110 on Ebay, pressume they are buying them from Costco. Recipe books good, recipe for a stirfry I plan to try soon. Can cook quite a lot in them. I do find anything I make with breadcrumbs tends to drop to bits in it but that is probably because the food is moved around in it.One day I might be more organised...........

So far I have only done chips in it using fresh potatoes and frozen chips, both were great. The recipe book reckons if you use olive oil, a portion of chips is 147 calories and 3g of fat. :j
I was a bit concerned about the cost, but we have used it quite a lot, but will keep guarentee safe after reading about a someone having a cracked lid:o'If you judge people, you have no time to love them'

I bought my Actifry yesterday and used it for the first time today. First time I prepared chips and smelt a burning smell but the instruction book made mention that the unit may produce a smell when first used.
I later tried a recipe, chicken with pineapple, and again noticed the strong smell. Chicken was cooked after 10 mins and we had the meal. I found in with the chicken a black bit that was very hard. Looking at the Actifry I could see that the back of the unit where the elements protrude from the body of the unit the plastic had melted as the unit had overheated! I looked via Google for any problems with the Actifry and found this thread so registered and made this post.
I will be taking the Actifry back to the shop as soon as possible to see why this overheated in this way :mad:0 -

I love my actifry, with all the energy bills increasing I think its saving us money. We cook with gas, before we had to heat up the oven then cook the oven chips for 20/25 mins or chicken for 45mins,now the chips go in the actifry for 10/15mins and the chicken cooks really fast.0
