It's being collected by Empire Direct on Friday. I will certainly miss it whilst it's being repaired, but I do feel that the lid is made from very brittle, flimsy plastic, which leads me to wonder about its durability.0

How are these for washing?
Do they go in a dish washer?
Is all the oil absorbed or are you left with an oily thing to clean?0 -
HI
The base, stirrer and lid all go in the dishwasher. Most of the oil is absorbed but you only put a teaspoon in anyway so there isn't mush to be left.

Fantastic piece of equipment - for 4 people it's a perfect size - the children say they prefer the chips to deep fried chips and I have to agree with them - agree with all the posts on the bananas as well. Great as no cooking smells lingering as with the fat fryer.
I've not tried anything else yet - but the stir fry looks straightforward.
I bought mine from Lakeland - the paddle broke after first use but they replaced the whole machine the next day.0 -
Ooooh i'm dying to buy one of these
Himself loves proper chips but i refuse to have a normal deep fat fryer so this would be a comprimise. Only downside is the price, might start a £2 jar just for this and stick a piccy of it from the Argos book to keep me motivated lol.
Alternatived is waiting to put it on the wedding list next year but he already thinks i'm only marrying him to get a load of kitchen gadgets lol :shhh:  i want a kenwood mixer, a hetty hoover (shes PINK!!!) and an actifry, he wants a dartboard and a poker table

I made the sausages in tomato sauce the other night, tasted so much better knowing they hadn't been cooked in lots of fat.
Chips and Roast Potatoes are excellent too, just sitting here thinking about trying some bacon in it for lunch !0 -
Just been out and bought one of those actifry gadgets, i have been saving for one for a while. At £149 I thought it was a very expensive gadget, but I have got to say after making some great chips in it, with only a tablespoon full of oil; no smell and only 3% fat!! I am very impressed by it.:j
Has anyone else got one and what sort of os things do you make in it???:D'If you judge people, you have no time to love them'

daz01,
we had some reaaly good chips out of it this afternoon. I used a tablespoon of vegatable oil in it and they tasted great, just like real chips. I have been reading up on it and it says that if you cook them with olive oil, they are even less fattening and better for you, as olive oil in a monsaturated oil compared to veg oil with is a polysaturated oil. Mono is better for your cholesteral levels:T
so next time I will try the olive oil:A'If you judge people, you have no time to love them'
