I`m treating myself to one. I decided after I saw some of the recipes. Not just for low fat chips :T

Anyone else got one and how do you get on with it?

What I have been trying to find out about them, and I don't think you can, is if you can cook things with batter on inside them

    I have one
potato wedges are good chips can have a habit of breaking up a bit chicken drumsticks are good and there are lots of other things you can make in it to the only downside to it are the amount you can put in it and the time it takes but once you get used to it you will love it I'm sure

I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was going to blame you

  • I love it for the fact we can have nice chips now. I hated oven chips but wouldnt have a deep fat fryer - even with the filters I hated the grease in the kitchen.

As Mrs Mix says - it doesnt have a massive capacity - it does just enough chips for my family but if someone else came round it would be a no go.

Yesterday I cooked some garlic mushrooms in it but I must admit they did fall apart a bit. But as I said worth it just for the nice chips.

So can you do freshly battered things in them? My partner has a 'thing' for spam fritters, battered at home, he said if he can have spam fritters made in them I can have one, it's the only fried thing he misses :D I have to pop to Costco this week for stuff for the shop so if anyone could tell me I would appreciate it.

  • hi there,
We have been looking at this actiry thing after reading up on here about it. What I really would like to know is what people cook in it, is it really as good as people say and is it worth the cost?
Do chips really taste ok with 1 tsp of oil?
    thanks in advance

  • Hi, We bought an actifry from costco around £100. It is really easy to use and yes only one spoon of oil for real chips. We have only used it 3 times as yet but are very happy with our purchase. I tried frozen chips (as I already had some) and these were very good, and we tried the recipe for bananas which I loved. (we are having them again tonight). Best of all there are no bad smells!
