I have read about the Actifry and as others have asked and had no replies to date, I will also ask......

Am I right in thinking that the method of frying in so little oil is that the food gets rotated around the fryer? If this is the case, I would imagine all sorts of foods will fall apart during the 'stirring' process (thinking specifically of the Spam fritters now). I do my chips by spraying an oven tray with oil, laying the chips on in a single layer, spraying them with oil and cooking in a hot oven for ½ hour or so. This uses no more than a teaspoonful of oil and has cost me nothing and the chips are fab.

I use this method for all my roast veg as well and everyone likes them, so would I benefit from buying an Actifry?

Thats how I do mine. I wouldn't say they are fab, but they are OK.
Are the actifry chips better than this?

Anyone fancy posting a pic of their chips from their Actifry?

Would love to see a "real" photo of the chips.

    Is it really one TEAspoon?

I assumed it was a tablespoon?

Do they two enough chips for two (very greedy:o) people?

We use a teaspoonfull. Ample for two, and we don't even fill the thing to max.

Chips aren't quite as good as 'real' ones, but they're perfectly acceptable, and we've never had a duff batch yet. Also a whole heap healthier, given my propensity for smothering any other kind of potato with butter.

I do chips in the oven. I chop the potatos up & spray with olive oil from a mister/squirter.

    They are ok..........

Is the actifry better than oven baked chips/wedges sprayed with oil?

I'm really interested in an actifry but I want to know it well worth the money & kitchen space before I buy one.

wouldn't own one if you paid me. No point in having 2 ovens in the house. As for chips, Aunt bessys oven chips are fab, no oil needed.

But they come coated in oil.

Some diets are more forgiving of you chopping your own spud & using a minimal amount of healthy olive oil than buying frozen oven chips.

Pity the actifrys didn't come in tiers, like steamers

I, on the other hand, wouldn't be without it. It's totally different from any other type of cooker, and nothing else on the market will give you chips like this without a high fat content.

These chips need a teaspoonful of oil for two people. Aunt Bessie's already contain 11% fat. No comparison, I'm afraid.

I don't buy into all this hype about fat, etc. I had relatives who lived to their 90's and fried everything in lard. Difference is, they worked hard, kept themselves fit.
