Have they made changes to the Actifry to stop them bursting into flames? That's what puts me off buying one.

The idea of nipping out to bring in the washing or something and coming back to find the thing on fire is horrifying

    You gotta get one:D

    They are lovely:D

Did a test spud, so nice I've put a second one in:o

I did the first one for just under 20 mins - looked done.

Was soft inside, much better than oven baked.

This one I'm going to leave for 25 mins & see if I can make it even crispier on the outside;)

Mrs E- I cannot recommend it enough. I use it for so much more than chips. I make sitrfry and chow mein in it as it cooks it really fast. I also use it for roast potatoes. They taste AMAZING! Oh! Also used it for hash browns in the freezer to use up and they tasted beautiful- like my guilty secret of macdonalds breakfast.

I use it about four times a week so it's worth the outlay :)

Just made great chips - far far nicer than oven baked.

How do you do roasties? Do you par boil them? Don't they break up?

OOh, maybe I should try it, my Mum bought one, used it once & didn't like it so asked me to ebay it. A quick look seems that they go on ebay for £50+ for used ones.
Mind you I rarely eat chips so when I do I do them in the oven with a spoonfull of dripping, tastes lovely & I'm a big bird because.....

    Hi hmc,

I've added your post to the existing thread on the actifry where you'll be able to read what others think of it and use it for.

Be still my heart! A topic about Actifry! :j

That is the only deep fat fryer I would ever buy but we've bought too much for Christmas so it will have to wait a few weeks at least.

It's great to see such good comments. Thanks all.
too foreign for diplomatic or PC answers, too poor for a sig

thankyou, i didnt know there was a thread lol should have known! will go and read. does it take up more room than a breadmaker? would have to put it on the overdraft but i think it would be a good investment, there is just me and a child and im all for easier cooking

You could try a Philips HD9220 for £176.96 from Amazon - but the reviews are very mixed.
