I have no experience with them myself.... but there is a whole thread about actifry
Have a wee look and see if there is any useful information in there, as I know plenty of questions have been asked before
I'll add your thread to that one later to keep the ideas together
thanks

Great forum. I'm currently trying to determine whether or not to buy the actifry and hope that you can help me with some questions I have.
How much chips would 1kg of potatoes produce?
We find when full, the actifry will produce enough chips for 4 people
How much potatoes are required for a similar amount of chips to a regular portion fo Mcdonalds fries? How long would it take?
Probably 250-300 grams of potatoes, if cut thin they would probably take 25-30 minutes to cook 1kg
Is there a difference between frying from frozen and not?
Yes, from frozen no additional oil is required, they also cook quicker than fresh chips which need some oil to crispen up.
Is the Actifry easy to clean?
For chips yes, a quick wipe is adequate.
Many thanks in advance.
Hopefully that helps, we love ours and wouldn't be without it.0 -
We have one, too. Uses very, very litle oil to make decent chips - how good they are will depend very much on the variety of potato you choose.
Ridiculously expensive, and probably costs Tefal around £10 to manufacture, but it is very good.0 -
I just wanted to share my experience of the Actifry. We bought one 15 months ago and wouldn't be without it, but.....
The motor has now started making a funny noise and it is taking ages to cook (its like the motor is struggling to power it). We have contacted Tefal who aren't interested as it is out of guarantee. I paid £100 for it, which equates to just under £7 per month for using the Actifry. Not very money saving.
It is for that reason that I wouldn't buy another one. If I pay over £100 for an appliance I expect it to last longer than just over a year! Up until now I raved over it though.

I was a big fan too, but mine became unusable after about 15 months because the lid wouldn't stay down, even with weights on it. The only way of using it was to physically hold the lid down. My sister also got one around the same time, and the motor went on hers after 16 months. I miss it but I couldn't afford to replace it knowing that another one might pack up so quickly. I think it's a great idea, but too expensive . If they offered a five year guarantee , I would consider one again.0

If an item has in law to be 'fit for purpose', wouldn't there be an arguement that it ought to last for more than 12 months when it was so expensive to purchase?
I wonder if Martin has an opinion on this :money: I feel sure I've read something about this being the case, though I can't remember any details.I let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -
I contacted Trading standards about this, and basically they said that after a year there was no point in pursuing "fit for use"0

Ours set on fire after about 9 months, but we got a replacement from Costco.0

hi there,
We have been looking at this actiry thing after reading up on here about it. What I really would like to know is what people cook in it, is it really as good as people say and is it worth the cost?
Do chips really taste ok with 1 tsp of oil?
thanks in advance

Is it really one TEAspoon?
I assumed it was a tablespoon?
Do they two enough chips for two (very greedy:o) people?0
