Hi,just to let everyone know my Actifry caught fire on Sunday,so if you are using one dont leave it unattended.
Thanks for that. This is not the first time I have heard of the Actifry catching fire, so I'll be sticking to doing my chips the Slimming World wayI let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -
No more smelly chip pans!! I have used my actifry almost every day for 18 months (got it as an Xmas prezzie!). Fries sausages brill. Makes good home made chips but takes a while and does not cook enough for the 6 of us. Perfect for 4 persons or 3 greedy persons!
Oven chips are great I would try various supermarket own varieties till you find one you like. My 2 youngest like McDonalds so I use Asda skinny chips and asda chicken nuggets. They go in the actifry for 18 Mins and come out just right. I keep the happy meal boxes when we do go to the real McD and serve them in the boxes
Our family favourite are potato wedges especially the Cajon spiced ones. I use Maris Piper pots make my own dip using Asda reduced fat mayonnaise, garlic and lemon juice.
So pros: Healthy recipes. No smells. Easy to clean. Easy to use. Tasty food
Cons: expensive!! Noisyish. Pathetic little bleeping sound when timer is up. Not very big portions
It has worked fine so far. Perhaps I am one of the lucky ones?0 -
Just wanted to give my review of this....
Mine was an xmas pressie off my mum and I've used it at least 3 times a week since then!
Its brilliant for chips (real potatoes or oven chips) and potato wedges. I also managed to cook crispy chicken pieces the other day by cubing a chicken breast and cooking for 30 mins (didn't even need any oil).
Definately worth the money!

I love mine too.
Yesterday I threw in few courgettes, chopped onion, mushrooms, tomato puree and some ham pieces. Delicious served with rice.
The lid is playing up on mine, which is now out of warranty, but I'd definitely replace it.0 -
Also a lover of the Actifry here.
We have had ours for around 3 months, it makes enough chips for the 4 of us.
Using King Edward potatoes have given me the best, crisp, golden chips.
Its so easy to clean, makes no mess, brilliant. So much better than a conventional fryer in so many ways.0 -
Just thought I'd post this in case it helps anyone...
I found that the chips made in the Actifry with 1TB oil (as per manual) tasted more like dried chips so the next time I made them I put 2TB of oil in a ziploc bag, I put my raw chips in, shook the bag to coat the chips and then cooked them in the Actifry.
They tasted MUCH better! :T
I was actually going to return the Actifry but now that I've found a way to make the chips tasty I'm keeping it.
I even did a side-by-side comparison with chips prepared the same way but cooked in the Remoska and as much as I desperately wanted the Remoska to 'win' the Actifry won hands-down."Finish each day And be done with it.
You have done what you could.
Some blunders and Absurdities have crept in.
Forget them as soon as you can."

What is the power consumption of the Actifry ?
We rarely have chips or wedgies because they cost so much to cook in the oven and we discarded the deep fat fyer due to the smell and grease involved.0 -
Where is the best place to get one of these in the UK?0

Hi,
Great forum. I'm currently trying to determine whether or not to buy the actifry and hope that you can help me with some questions I have.
How much chips would 1kg of potatoes produce?
How much potatoes are required for a similar amount of chips to a regular portion fo Mcdonalds fries? How long would it take?
Is there a difference between frying from frozen and not?
Is the Actifry easy to clean?
Many thanks in advance.0 -
