  • cant remember the name - doh - but it comes with a large bag for you to put the shelves and stuff in. also use it neat on the inside of the oven. its brilliant - cost about £4 or so but really does the job. i got mine in my local robert dyas.

Oven Pride - best invention ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A smile costs little but creates much :)
  • Last night found an unopened pack of Oven Pride in the back of cupboard - can't recall when we bought it - my oven has come up a dream.

iv'e used ovenpride for a while, its brilliant, i also use it on my BBQ.
  • Once a year Lidl sell W5 BBq cleaner, comes in a grey spraybottle. Absolutly brilliant stuff. I spraid it on, done other housework first ( or you can leave it overnight) then wiped it off with scourer, all the metal bits came up gleaming. incl the glass door.
Also - an oldfashioned way to do it is:
soak a sponge in ammonia, stick in black binliner with metal bits and bobs, put another soaked sponge in oven, leave over night ( the fumes will do loosening of dirt) then wash everything with scourer next day. Old effective way of doin it if you can stand the smell!

It is easier with the ammonia to put all oven trays in a double binbag and then add a cupful of ammonia to the bag, averting your eyes. The bag can be knotted and left overnight. Next morning then use a hose to sluice the trays down which should be gleaming.

I'd rather use OvenPride - but just out of interest, where do you buy neat ammonia?
Good enough is good enough, and I am more than good enough!:j

  • My oven's had something spilt and then cooked on - I've tried the "usual" oven cleaners and it gets a bit off but not all of it.

Any ideas for what would work?

Couple of restrictions ..... it needs to be available at Mr A's and doesn't require a lot of elbow grease ..... (recovering from op so can't bend/kneel down to give it a good scrub and can't drive to get anywhere).

    Thanks:)

Hi Rising, I cleaned mine with fairy power spray and those aluminium scrubbies, i left the spray on the bottom of the oven for about an hour as it was really bad, it does take a bit of scrubbing tho so not sure if you are ok with this? the racks I just used normal washing up liquid, hot water and a scrubby again, have to say the oven has never looked cleaner!
2019, move forward with positivity! I am the opposite of Eyeore :rotfl:
  • Thanks both, will add a scraper thing to my order (would never have thought of that!) and some Fairy power spray (I've had that in the past and it was quite good from memory).

It's not the actual scrubbing I'll struggle with, it's getting down to floor level to do it as I can't kneel (can't put my foot either flat out or bent at the toes) or stand long enough to bend.

Hopefully if I get the stuff now, I'll be able to do it soon!
