i put the hob rings etc in a bath filled with hot water and washing powder left over night.
Then wash the top over with hot soapy water and white vinegar.
This isn't done very often:o so its take ages.0 -
I use soda crystals liquid variety - just spray on, leave for a while, then use a pan scrubber in case of any hard to shift muck, then wipe off with a cloth. Mind you I am a vegan so there are no nasty animal fats to try and scrape off!
When we moved in to this house the oven was filthy (the story of my life - I'm sick of cleaning muck of ovens when we move house), but I read somewhere on here that if you put a cup of ammonia in the oven and leave it overnight it's easy to clean, so I did that and it worked a treat!0 -

I should have voted other, but went for the one that mentioned elbow grease. I tend to use just a damp cloth to soak the yucky bits and then get scrubbing. I have been known to use bicarb on occasion though.

I seem to be the only one who uses stardrops. I clean it every couple of months s I suppose it never gets too bad. I find it just wipes clean quite easily. Mind you, I do want to get one of those silicone liners to save even doing that!Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These
(he points to some plastic cows on the table) are very small; those (pointing at some cows out of the window) are far away...:D:D

Thanks for the replies so far.
Looks like I'm going to try some Oven Pride and see how I get on.0 -
Oven sterilises itself every time you switch it on in my book. I avoid cooking anything uncovered that is going to spit too much fat around.............but then I've served my time as a family cook and have become a self indulgent lazy mare now!0

I voted other -
I don't bother:D.

My cooker is 18 years old and it gets a wipe over with star drops once a week and I chuck some cream cleaner around once in a while, but usually cover things so nothing splashes too much. However I decided to treat it recently and both 2 packets of oven pride from Home Bargains. It really wasn't that dirty but it sparkles like a new cooker now, I was soooo excited (sad I know)
It might have to wait another 18 years before I do it again though!0
