cleaning the oven

Just cleaned my double oven with a paste of sodium bicarb and lemon juice - I warmed it up a bit first(the oven!!) - and used a wire scourer. Looks great!0

Does it have any self-cleaning parts to it? They usually look matt on the surface compared to the rest of the oven? If so as mine has i heat the oven on full heat for about 20mins whilst the oven is empty periodically and this burns off any fat/grease that may have slashed onto the surface as you are not supposed to clean these sections yourself. On the bottom of the oven i usually sprinkle washing soda onto it then lay on to them an old tea towel that i had soaked in hot water and wrung out. Leave for about an hour this usually loosens any burnt on or greasy deposits.
Hope this helps

If you put a non stick baking sheet on the bottom after you have cleaned it then it will catch future cheese. Much easier to clean the sheet.0

thanks for the bicarb idea, was thinking somewhere down that road. its not non-stick though & walls do not come out.0

Put tin foil on the base then it's just a case of cleaning the front next time.Lets get this straight. Say my house is worth £100K, it drops £20K and I complain but I should not complain when I actually pay £200K via a mortgage:rolleyes:0

Some people recommend soaking all removable trays in the bath overnight with a solution of bio washing powder and water. Would like to try this but am worried about it damaging the surface of the bath.
Can anyone reassure me please?
I always put an old bath towel in the bath, to prevent the trays from scratching the surface.0 -
My problem is the bottom of my oven is sparkly clean, it's the top that's manky. What I would love to do is turn the cooker upside down to soak it in Oven Mate. No cleaning stuff stays on the top for long enought to clean it. Any ideas?0
