I have just cleaned mine although it wasnt too dirty but there were some deposits on the base of the oven.
I use astonish oven and cookware cleaner . it comes in a blue tub and lasts for ages . you do need a bit of elbow grease with it but there are no smells or harsh chemicals.
its great on glass doors too0 -
I wouldnt use caustic soda on ovens(!) but what I use is ammonia. Place all the trays in a double bin bag with a cupful of ammonia addes. Avert the eyes and use gloves making sure the bag is tied up and left outside. Next day hose the shelves down and lots of the bits that dont seem to be removed with a Brillo disappear. Do drain the stuff out carefully but I have used this method lots of times and it does work. HTH0

Any Help Would Be Appreciated, Not Been Done For Ages, Something I Avoid0

:jYou can either buy an oven cleaner (smells horrid) and follow instructions or put the oven on to heat up (remove shelves first) for about 10 mins.
Turn off oven, then using green scrubbie pads and detergent scrub, scrub, scrub. Rinse repeat.
If the bottom of the oven is particularly filthy you made need to scrape before you clean.
When you have finished attack shelves!!!
Remember to put a sheet of foil on the bottom of oven to save scrubbing next time.0 -
Hi eliotlyla,
There's an earlier thread with lots of ideas for cleaning an oven that should help so I've added your thread to it to keep the suggestions together.

Am just about to tackle the oven
It is partly self cleaning (sides and back) but the top and bottom and glass I am going to use oven pride for those and the shelves. But-the self cleaning bits are a touch greasy etc, so can I wash them down with soapy water? with plain water? whats the best way to do it? (I wish I had a totally self cleaning one like my mother!)
Thanks0 -
Hi hotcookie,
With self cleaning ovens it might be best to check out your manual before doing anything. There's an earlier thread with lots of tips on oven cleaning that might help so I've added your post to it to keep the replies together.

Its not actually self cleaning-it has the stay clean liners (IYKWIM) on the sides, these seem really greasy, so should I just clean the other bits then give it a blast at 220?0
