Just a little update on my good news after 13 months with the fos I received a letter from them yesterday to say Barclaycard would like to make me an offer to settle my complaint, inline with fos guidelines and will calculate the amount shortly but this can take 8-10 weeks upon receiving my acceptance.

    Hi calw,

As you've had success through the FOS, i am interested to know what your response was to the FOS, I to made an application via the internet and Barclaycard have rejected my claim. I was just wondering what you might have put in your letter to the FOS in order for B/C to make you an offer. Any help would be gratefully appreciated. Thanks Jo

The FOS gives the firms a chance to settle the complaint without incurring the FOS fee. In cases where the redress amount is low or where they feel the complaint could go against them, they will often take up that offer. Where the amount is high and the complaint against them is weak, they will usually let it go a decision by the adjudicator.

  • This may be a long shot but maybe someone can advise me. People keep telling me I should claim but not sure if this is too old. Took out an Egg card in 2001 with PPI, agreement dated 14th November 2001. Contract in my name with an additional card in my wife's name. She passed away in 2005 and I tried to claim on the PPI. Was initially told it was covered but after nearly a year of backwards and forwards it was turned down as the cover was just for me. I paid off the outstanding amount and closed the account in disgust. Is this within the rules of the PPI Reclaim or is it nor worth the effort. Money is still tight as a single parent so anything extra would be handy.
  • Does anybody have an address as to where I can get all my egg card statements from?
