Just got an email to say my claim with Barclaycard/Egg has not been upheld. So nearly 17 weeks after sending in the claim they turn it down. Will have to wait for letter to see their reason and then it's off to the FOS.0

Hi Guys,
It sounds like you have experience in dealing with EGG, and im wondering of anybody can help me, as i am unsure what to do next.
I took my loan with them in August 2004, and paid it off in 2007. However I no longer have any documentation to confirm i was paying PPI although i am 100% certain i was.
So i wrote to them after reading Martins site and downloaded a template letter, requesting a copy of the credit agreement under sections 77−79 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974. I enclosed a cheque for £1 as suggested. I also asked for a copy of the terms and conditions that were applicable to my account at the time.
However i am very disappointed and angry that they have writen back to me informing me that EGG are under no obligation to comply with my request as they no longer have 'a contractual relationship relating to my account, as the right to be provided with this information from EGG ended with the closure of the account'.
They also sent my cheque back.
Where can i go with this? How can i reclaim my PPI if alls i know is my account number of the account, and have no details of the PPI?
Hoping someone can help (pleeeeeeease?)0 -

Egg have correctly responded. It was an error on this site which has recently been corrected.Where can i go with this? How can i reclaim my PPI if alls i know is my account number of the account, and have no details of the PPI?
You can do a data subject access request and that costs £10. That will only tell you if you PPI or not. It wont tell you if you are mis-sold or not. That also assumes they still hold data. They may not do so.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. I was doing a 'spring cleaning' and came across Eggloan documents sent in 2003 for a 3-year loan, with PPI included. All in glorious HD! Barclaycard! Here I come !:j:jDON'T STEAL!!! Government HATES competition!:D Pay your tax and make voluntary contributions to the government! :A:T0

Quick Update...claim is still with the FOS so I dont foresee it being decided upon this side of Xmas.
On a side note, I completed PPI claims for my Mum and Dad to Alliance & Leicester, First Trust and Capital One. The first two were upheld to the tune of approx £6k and we're awaiting the Capital One decision....know their timescale has slipped.
Also helped my sister claim around £400 from the Ulster Bank!0 -
Hello All,
I’m in the same position as many of you who had an eggcredit card, since Barclays took over I can’t view my previous online as theinformation is no longer there.
I’m not sure what to do, as have received the rejectionletter from Barclays saying they are unable to locate a policy in my name.
I’m not sure if this is a fob off or an honest response fromBarclays, obviously it might be convenient for them if they can’t find anyinformation once they acquired egg to eliminate historical liabilities.
Is it worth going to the FOS or accepting Barclays aregiving me the honest answer?
I truly cannot remember if i had PPI on my credit card.
Thanks to all.

If you closed the account with Egg prior to Barclaycard taking it over then they were not provided details on closed accounts. If you closed the account after it went to BC then they would have account details but they do actively destroy records that are no longer required.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
