all i have is toddler clothes tbh, its a lot of work for little back...how people can make so much is beyond me....
Maybe it would be more worthwhile to sell in bundles, rather than individual items, if that's the way you're doing it.
That way for 10 items you will pay just 1 paypal fee (I think it's 20p per transaction) & the %.
Just make sure that the items you put together don't cost more to post than you can charge.0 -

True. It's odd sometimes. I had two unused posh lipglosses (same colour/brand) and listed one on ebay to see if there would be any interest. Several people bid and I made a lot more money than expected. A couple of weeks later I listed the other one and only one person bid and I made pennies.
I agree that you need to search the completed listings and see what things have gone for and then take into account fees etc before deciding to list.0 -
Another 8 things sold, about £30 before fees and postage :T
Every little helps :rotfl:Can't think of anything smart to put here...0 -
My MIL gave me 2 bags of clothes to sell over the weekend. The last lot have some decent stuff in Wallis, M&S, John Charles etc, this lot I'm not so certain will sell as well but will give it a go. I just need a NFL weekend as its not worth the effort to list for 99p and for them to sell for 99p, especially after you take the fees off.Turning our clutter to top up our house deposit: £3000/£303.05 we're on our way!0

Hi Everybody,
I have sat and just read all this thread. Would you mind if I joined as I have so much stuff that we dont need and use. I dont think I will manage a bag a day but will do two bags a week.
I work for myself and am not really busy at the moment so need to start to do something else as well, so this is a good idea.
If you had to say three items that were your best sellers what would they be from stuff just hanging around your home? Only asked this so I know what to start with.
Take care

Hi aprilshower
I have found that clothes/shoes don't really sell for that much money. Except branded things (like Converse trainers for example). I've also sold make up for pennies, but some hair products (a Paul Mitchell spray thingy) for not bad amounts.
I'm now getting round to niknaks round the house, collectable bears I had, some old dvd's, some more random things, they have all sold well (ie more than the 99p starting bids lol) which has been great.
But in all honesty, I don't really make much money from ebaying. I worked out that my last few weeks of sales I got just over £90. After postage and ebay fees plus paypal fees, i made £43 profit. Not much, but my clutter is going down and so is the credit card balance, can't really ask much more than that lol xCan't think of anything smart to put here...0 -
Not a member of this group but thought i'd put what i've earned.
Just registered on E-Bay after a long break and currently working part time (30 hours per week) in a retail job after finishing Uni last summer (still trying to find that graduate job). Anyway, managed to list 44 items on e-bay, the last few days all the listings have expired and I managed to sell 22 of those 44 items.
All the items I listed were under 99p (It was mostly CDs, DVDs and Magazines which I listed - the CDs were rejected from music magpie). Anyway, after filling in my spreadsheet and deducting final value fee's, postage fee's and paypal fees (rip off!), I have made a profit of £18.53 which isn't too bad I guess.
Anyway, I still have 56 free 'under 99p' listings to do before the end of the month so hoping to get a little bit more. Basically i'm getting rid of the 'clutter' that's in the attic and may then i'll move on to other things. A few of my colleagues have set up an online 'business' via e-bay for extra income and it's something I am considering but just need to find the right things to sell.House Deposit: £28,000 and still saving!0 -
Thanks soolin:j0

Hi Everybody
Thank you for all your comments. Well, I have been really busy listing items on ebay.
Up to now I have sold 10 items.
Active listings of 24 items.
Scheduled items 22.
I started by sorting out my sons stuff.
I have found so many pairs of football boots and converse you would not believe. So they have been washed and are on ebay now so will see what happens.
Next is my daughters stuff. That will be good.
Take care everybody

Really love this thread!! Was hoping that it could be resurrected!! I found it quite inspirational and am hoping to try and get going on my Ebay listing again.
Seem to have loads to clear out and really want to simplify my life and have only what me & family need (rather than all the surplus possessions we seem to have acquired).
Plan to get started properly during school hols - will keep you updated!!0
