Kaz, that's the sort of thing I do, I've had so many near misses with spitting tea out & almost drowning the laptop.
I've got 2 bids on the stuff I listed on Sunday, loads of watchers as well. I wish we could turn off the watchers list. No matter how many times I tell myself that watchers mean nothing I still hope.
Not going to have time to list today but will do a bag tomorrow.

Ah yes, the watchers list. How much time would I save if there wasn't one? I'd have nothing to do all day!

    hi all

    my first post :)

anyway! thanks Kaz for this thread, i came across it tuesday (whilst lurking), and it gave me the kick i needed to get rid of my clutter and raise a little money whilst i'm looking for work. there's probably enough to put maybe 10 to 20 items on a week for a few months (shocking :o). mostly stuff that i would put on ebay for under 99p. ive read the posts about paypal micropayments and im thoroughly confused. i've just rung paypal and they said i need to be a business to have this type of account. if i did go ahead and open one anyway would i end up in trouble with the tax man? i'm a self employed decorator and registered as a sole trader if that makes any difference. oh dear im rubbish at this stuff lol

any comments would be greatly appreciated :)

  • Hi,

Sorry been a bit AWOL recently just not finding time to list on ebay. I did manage to get a micro payments account on though. You need to open a business account on paypal, I read somewhere on this forum that its ok to do so. Once thats opened you need this link https://micropayments.paypal-labs.com/

I am just using the micro account for small items and the fees are definitely less, I sold something for a total of £3.99 and the fees were 25p. You need to be careful with the micro account as the fees can be higher than the normal account I think if you sell something for over a certain amount.

This explains it well - http://cgi3.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewUserPage&userid=vallombrosa2

twiglet66, thanks very much for this. I've just applied for mine. It did say it takes up to two working days for it to be set up.

Now, how will I know if my account has been changed to micro acc when I log in? Where do I need to look?

    Thanks again
  • Well, since the start of this challenge I've already made £100 net!!! :j

I've loads and loads of my daughters summer clothes to sell and keep wondering if it would be wise to list them now or hang off till closer to summer?

    Any ideas?

Good Day Everyone  Well I have stopped sulking now about the Monday fail test ...and booked another one straight away -just hoping a cancellation comes up sooner :o i failed on the most silliest thing I have never done before and even the test instructor told me to go home and book immediately another one as he was confident I would pass next time ..so going to look on the bright side with confidence for the next one :D

Welcomealli73 :hello: I will add you to the list :)

Soolin - Sorry to hear about your dad ..I sort of understand where your coming from as I have a family member like that , collects all for sentimental reasons , however she doesnt look after the items which can be frustrating and plenty have helped her out in the past to have a clear out and it just gets the same again months later :( It is emotional to be involved and I think you did the best thing and when you have time I am sure you will keep some items and you know it will take time but a little bit at a time might be best in that situation :o
My grandmother had to sell her house about 7 years ago due to going into a warden controlled bungalow . I was the only one to take care of things and i had 3 days to do it in - I had 3 days so one of the things was a car boot - I sold most things for 50p and under with my friend . since then i have found out plenty of the items I wanted to keep but didnt {my friend kept telling me everything should go because i didnt need them - Due to the emotional side } so I took her advice . There was all my old toys , jewellery from my great grandmother etc - and all went for 10p or less . All funds went to my gran but I could have made her so much more money had I known about the internet then more . For example I sold all natwest pigs set for £1 , vintage toys were given away etc etc and i dont want to say about pearls etc  . I think I would have more of an idea now what to keep and what to get rid of in what order , but she was happy at the time for the extra pennies :o I think i would now looking back of not had the task to do it as I am unsure if i did the right thing now in getting rid of it all and especially as she passed away recently and I have just a few photos for memories keepsakes now !!

    zepsgal
I think i would be annoyed too at that feedback - Maybe drop them a message asking why they think that ? Or ignore if you know you are going to get more feedback shortly , due to it being a positive anyway !?!

Kaz2904 - How did you go on with your bids ??

As for bids on items - One of my items over the weekend was something I bought ages ago off a car boot for 50p as it was fancy dress for my dd as she mithered at the time then never bothered with it - tatty and the plan was to list it mixed in with other items just to get rid of it . But listed it on its own as I had a spare 5 mins and already had the pics for it . i stated the flaws etc - close up pics aswell . It went for over £20 incl postage { postage free - cost me less than £3 to post too First class }...... And there is plenty of them already listed which go for a couple of quid !!?! .....I had someone offer me a bin price for less than a £5 when i listed and refused as i didnt want the fees ....So glad I refused :)

Plenty of the items I sold last week I was given from a friend so all free profit too :D

Off to update stars now - Well done everyone - Im going to do a bag today as I havnt done any this week yet with school hols, but dd is with grandad til 2pm so will see how I get on :o

Great stuff Well off to a superman.gif start :D

I am the same with mine - I have recently been looking at completed listing and i personally have decided to hold off for a bit . I found when i did the same with winter clothes I did the best just before the season started -End of August / beg Sept .

So for summer stuff I am looking at April mid - end or later . As just in time for people to receive for May day bank holidays when the weather starts to change and people start thinking of days out and summer and school holidays :o

    thank you keys!!! :D

i have put 7 items on this week so far, and have lots more prep'd to go on. also going to my mums this afternoon, im sure i can pick up more there, she is a queen hoarder!

im sorry to hear about your driving test, i feel for you. i failed for the 3rd and 4th times last year. ive had a auto licence for 11 years but keep failing the manual, these last 2 times i had almost perfect report sheets up until i was within 50 yards of finishing, i could see the test centre!!! then, on both tests, i made one really stupid mistake, instant fail! :o lol go for it, i wish you all the luck :)
