Kaz if you're struggling for stuff come to my house, I could probably list a bag a day for the next 20 years, without buying anything else on a whim that ends up being sold again & still my daughter will have stuff to dump on my demise.
Same here. I am beginning not to be able to cope with the amount of stuff I have- am tempted to just charity shop it all, but then part of me just worries that I might be able to make money from it.
I've lived in my house for 18 years and still have boxes I haven't unpacked, they just live in the loft.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. *cries* it would be my idea of heaven to come and route around in your boxes :-p (and I don't mean anything dodgy by that lol)0 -
I have just listed my 2nd bag of unwanted items, please may i have two stars please.
I have to say I am amazed by how much junk a girl can accumolate in all my 22 years of existance. When I was searching through my stuff I have to say some items were not worth putting on ebay so I just posted them on my local Freegle site.
I have to say even though I am getting rid of all this junk my flat is not looking any less cluttered lol.No More Buying Books: read 0/25; Bought: 0

6 years ago my father Had a catastrophic breakdown and he ended up in a hospital and he never ever went home again ( he finally died last year). He had been reclusive for many years, not allowing me into the family home as he was embarrassed at his hoarding and after he ended up in care I had to sell the house to pay the fees.
I was faced with a three storey thee bedroom house full to the brim with stuff. Several rooms were completely unusable as the stuff was piled floor to ceiling and the third floor was unreachable as he had piled things to the ceiling on the stairs. As each of his brothers and sisters had got dementia and died he had taken in their stuff and kept it, he had also bought bag loads of brand new things that he bought home and never even unpacked.
I spent two months clearing mainly the ground floor and then couldn't cope anymore and hired skips and just hauled the stuff out and dumped it. I was leaving stuff in the front garden telling people to help themselves just to make room.
I sold the house before it was cleared and the lady that bought it told me to hand the keys to her and walk away and leave it all as Ihad reached the end of the line and couldn't do it.
I was actually going to advertise to see if anyone wanted to help me and just take stuff in payment, but my OH said it was a stupid idea. I wish I ha though
Even now I still have a storage locker - room sized of stuff that I just carted down each day and I have No idea what I really haveI’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Errm *kaz tentatively sticks her head up over the parapet* this thread was started as an offshoot of the decluttering thread. I joined the decluttering thread (and the no more buying toiletries thread) in 2010 as I had got to the end of my rope. I had managed to clear so much carp from my house but was really struggling with the battles from DH and the kids.
Clutter is a very emotive issue. We don't want to live like it but we seem to be unable to know where to start. So we don't.
Please come and join us over on either thread if you feel snowed under with stuff, we'll help you out with good humour and hugs and kicks up the arriss if that's what you need.
As for coming and rummaging through your stuff; I'd love to! It's always much easier and nicer to get rd of other peoples stuff than it is your own. No emotional attachments you see. Also, you get to see how happy they are with the change when they have a clean and tidy space.
Oh, and I popped on here to say that I have got 3 bidders now. So 3 items will go.Debt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.0 -

So sorry to hear about your Father Soolin and what you've had to put up with and go through. Strangely, i kinda have an idea what you mean. My own Mum has suffered with breakdowns, psychiatric wards etc. in the past throughout my childhood and whilst now she's better than she's ever been, she she to be obsessive about buying things, saving things, money etc. but not to the extent (yet!) of your Father (it kinda seems to go hand in hand with breakdowns sometimes).
Luckily me and my Dad are the opposite, we HATE clutter and Dad spends his time trying not to notice 'new' things appearing, as it's easier not to comment than start a argument or a downerI do fear if my Dad weren't here that my Mum wouldn't cope with handling money and i wouldn't cope with trying to help with money and clutter. Hence why i love the idea of hunting though peoples things... in my head, i'm sorting my Mum's stuff

Keys, sorry to hear you didn't pass your driving test
I remember how difficult it was, so nerve-wracking!! Best to get an early AM appointment next time, get it out the way early before you have time to be nervous :-)
Just a little moan about ebay, my coffee machine that I sold on Sunday, posted on Monday and was delivered Tuesday. Buyer left feedback saying 'excellent transaction, speedy delivery, great seller NOT as described'.
!!!!!!?? It was described as a used coffee maker, little mark here and there from use, perfect working order etc etc. No message from the buyer, just that feedback
I'm probably being fussy and grumpy, Im rather tired this morning, but it's just annoying xCan't think of anything smart to put here...0 -
My items that finished the other day reached just over £50, still waiting for 1 payment of £10.50 though. So if I could only get up to listing a bag a day & got half that a day I'd soon get my debts cleared.
Soolin, so sorry to hear about your Dad.0 -
I have 4 items which will sell now so it's all good! Also (OT) the fire just spat and I a) smacked myself in the teeth with my cup and b) nearly drowned myself in coffee. Blimey, my heart's racing!
DS still not quite over the trauma of me listing his beavers uniform but why on earth would I want to keep it? He's left!Debt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.0
