novus update also works ok in my talex lite, I'm swapping between talex and novus while my talex subscription still lasts.
  • I updated my Talex Lite on Sunday using the old (Talex) software, and it updated the version from 70{something} to 80{something}. In Birmingham, Talex had just updated most of the cameras before they went bust. The new cameras that were in there before are still in there - but the very latest camera, which I think was installed just before Talex went bust in November, isn't in there. On the middle ring-road going clockwise, just by St Andrews (Bham City Football Club), there are two cameras in quick succession. At this time, Talex is only aware of the first of them.
I drove past this location at the weekend (for the first time in months), and both cameras are in there now. They also had the location of the specs cameras on the M40 exactly right - so my confidence is coming back. I am still using the Talex version of the database.
The only reason I bought the Talex was for its high-quality database. At this time, this does not exist. Someone should tell Adam Blair that he only has a short period of time to raise the quality of his database to a high standard. If he fails to do so quickly, he will lose his customer base - and, with the pocketgps alternative becoming well-known, he won't find it as easy to get the customer base back as Talex probably found it to build the customer-base in the first place - at a time when the only competition in the same price bracket was the rubbish (in terms of database quality) on offer from Road Angel and Snooper.

He'll be selling buckets with holes in if he could convince you it would stop you getting any speeding fines in the post :rotfl:

I agree, blair's emails give no confidence whatsoever that his is a company to be taken seriously.

i dont get his emails so i cant comment, but i have tried last week the novus database against talex (first time in months) and was very much unimpressed with the novus which to me seemed hasnt been updated in months with a few missing sites and some sites that are no longer there still on the database. the talex seems to be getting better and better and i have read quite a few posts praising it on how much better it has got recently. i am certainly more trusting of it now that its being updated and actually prefer it to the pocketgps one which seems to be missing quite a few mobile sites inmy area, even through it does have all the fixed ones. talex is meant to be doing a grand launch soon, from what i got in a reply from them they are putting the finishing touches to the new devices and update program so they dont have another talex elite sage (now a novus device), so things are certainly looking promising.

I recently bought a Novus Rider GPS speed camera device and I'm impressed but I'm confused about the mentions on this thread about Talex. Is it possible to get updates from Talex instead of Novus? I downloaded the latest update from the NovusGPS website for the Rider and it seems pretty good and certainly has all the cameras local to me in Southampton.
Trying hard to be a good moneysaver.

yes the talex updates will work but you have to pay for them. If the novus data seems fine in your area and is free there hardly seems any point in paying talex £25 a year.
