I got one of these devices but never installed it as the test to see whether my shower needed it or not showed that I didn't need it.

Instead I got a tear drop shower timer for about £150 off ebay. If I can convince everyone to stick to the 35 litre recommendation I'll be laughing as it seems we use about 80 - 90 litres in the shower as it is.

Unlike the useless (though funny) recommendation to shower in the rain or in a pond, a more useful recommendation is to get a 20 litre bucket and a 1 litre jug. Instead of filling the bath or using a shower, fill the bucket with water to your desired temp, and use the jug to pour on your body, soap and rinse.

Africans and Indians have been doing it for many years (I don't know how long exactly but long before my grandparents were born).

Came across this today, its for a free shower smart unit which will save you money on your water bill.

    http://www.shower-smart.co.uk/apply.php

it takes about 45 days to arrive so don't panic if it doesn't arrive straight away.

    Hi

You may find it easier to search the url as well as the title becuase it usually shows up duplicates easier.

Unfortunately this has been posted and merged quite a lot over the last year or so.

When you get it, do read the literature and see whether they can do the maths about savings. Waste of time and tax payers money in my opinion.
  • Thanks a lot =)

Pointless and useless. It simply restrict water flow. Duh, most people try to get more not less flow. More wasted money ( and increased carbon footprint making and sending these things ).
    Live long and prosper.

Mr. Fire Fox likes to run the water forr ages before he gets in the shower and won't turn off the water while shampooing/ soaping. He doesn't spend any longer in the shower now so am confident we save water. Therefore it's not a waste of money.

  • Hi all,

This product claims to save atleast £20 a year on both metered bills and fuel bills, I work that out at £600 in a lifetime (15 years - OK not massive but look after the pennys and all that!!!) . I've recently got one of these, and it doesn't restrict the actual flow but uses less water (meaning that there isn't a loss of pressure by turning the taps down a bit) :T so I would recommend for anyone who can fit it to at the very least give it a go!

At the end of the day it's free so I thought I'd share! Search for "ecoshopgti" in google, and on their homepage they have a link to request a free unit!

I think it's probably advertised elsewhere as well
