water saving

  • When I visited my elderly mother recently, she gave me one of these devices which had been sent to her, unsolicited, by post. Luckily I didn't have the time to fit it to her shower. Had I done so without reading all the instructions I could have seriously damaged her electric shower. What annoyed me was that the postman had delivered loads of these unwanted and unneeded devices in her area. Not much use to anyone who has an electric shower and A COMPLETE WASTE of money. Who's money? Well ours of course. No doubt paid for by the taxpayers.
Yet another Labour stunt no doubt (we're going green whatever it costs) and charged unneccessarily to taxpayers, and this at the end of a badly bruising recession.

Yorkshire Water have teamed up with E.ON to provide their customers with a free ShowerSave.

I think Severn Trent did something similar last year.

    Is your shower suitable?686.jpg

To benefit from the E.ON ShowerSave, there needs to be a minimum amount of water being supplied through your shower every minute - too little and it won't benefit you as you already use a water saving shower.
When you order an E.ON ShowerSave you'll get a measuring bag complete with instructions to test the flow rate of your shower. If the water is above the measuring line on the flowbag, then you could save water and money.
E.ON have put together video which might help.

It's basically a washer that sits in the pipe to restrict the flow of water.
Useful if that's what you want.
A fool may give advice but the one who takes it is the bigger fool.

government initiative to help us save energy.

its a fitting that conects between your taps and shower hose,
saves more than 12,000 liters ofwater per year ,approx saving of £20 on gas bills and £20 water bills (where metered)per year.

The device can be used with power -shower systems that use mains fed hot water.(not suitable for electric showers, showers with multible jets)

not sure if i can post link on here so if you want the web address or phone number pm me thanks

Homebase are selling them for £1. Possibly worth it if you're on a water meter and don't mind a reduced water flow from your (non electric) shower but otherwise I wouldn't bother.

I fitted one last week and the water flow is so reduced that I'm having to spend twice as long in the damn shower to get my hair rinsed after shampooing!! :rotfl:
