Hope you feel better soon Fudge. I really can sympathise as I get terrible migraines and know how awful they are.
Do you take prescription migraine meds? I take Imigran 50 when they are really bad and find that usually helps.
I've been trying various migraine prevention treatments for a few months now and have at last found something that's working without any awful side effects.
I'm on Epilim, an Epilepsy med and have not had a proper migraine for nearly a month now...had headaches, but ones I can shift using normal over the counter stuff without having to resort to the Imigran.
Worth investigating if you get reccurring migraines and are not on any treatment plan as they are so debilitating
Hiya Purdita
Thank you for the lovely post. Unfortunately I've gone through the entire list of migraine drugs that are compatible with the drugs that I have to take on a daily basis and haven't found an effective treatment. The extremely unfortunate thing for me is that every single new drug that's introduced or problem that arises now has a very serious knock on effect to one of my illnesses or other drugs. The only thing I have found helpful is taking a travel sickness tablet and an Ibuprofen. BUT even Ibuprofen is a risk as with the combination of other tablets I take, it can act cause serious stomach aggrevation which can lead to ulceration and bleeding. Because I'm on warfarin (which thins the blood) it means that any bleeding, but particularly hidden bleeding can be life threatening!!:eek: Just from taking Ibuprofen! So I can only take one if it's unmanageable, otherwise I'm stuck with grinning and bearing the pain
I think mine are largely hormonal considering the monthly pattern that they follow so I resorted to having the depo provera injection a couple of times but to no avail. If I had continued there's a small chance it may have improved the symptoms but I gave it 6 months and knowing that I have Osteoporosis and the Depo injection actively contributes to bone density loss, I didn't feel the risk was worth it. I would have loved to have tried taking the pill but Oestrogen again isn't compatible with warfarin so back to square one!
I don't do things by halves. I'm a complete mine field! :eek::o:mad::(
EDITED to add thank you to Debsx
