The above ^^^^^ is XP Pro running in a virtual machine, but that shouldn't effect web rendering issues.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

On the home page banner, I get the search box on the second line of the mast head but on the forum version it is as my screenshot earlier.
On neither do I get what your screenshot is.
All correct here, on both forum and main site.
Presumably you've tried clearing your browser cache then restarting IE8?Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Problem with main page, some of the sections are merged, example LOANS and debt-free wannabe, using the same block, missing the line, like the rest of the window.
as scrolling down the page i see that about 6 times, or have those particular items been merged?.
Oh and just to join in with the new layout, I didnt like it either, switched to stretched as it was before and before you ask my age, i'm 36. and i only need glasses for driving.0 -

Considering I have had none of the problems that everyone else is reporting about the new layout, I am doing not too badly
Apart from the mast head changing, the layout has stayed exactly as it was before.0 -
Surely this is a joke?
The theme names should be 'sensible' and 'shrunk' instead of 'stretchy'?!
I guess this is what happens when you ask for unpaid interns to save costs.0 -
That gets done every day anyway, I thought it might be a screen resolution setting which is why I posted those details as well.
I didn't see those. What resolution exactly? Just so people can try your exact set-up if possible.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

My screen settings are at 1024 by 768
If I switch to that resolution, I still can't replicate your problems.

Well I lasted until this morning before throwing in the towel and returning to stretchy.
I tried the old look and the new masthead and upon comparing the two, I do prefer the new masthead BUT I think the pic isn't 'right'. I don't even necessarily think it's the pose, I think it's the shirt and more specifically, the colour of the shirt. It just doesn't seem to gel. It's not a 'sharp' look, it looks rumpled and I think it's not helped by being a bit insipid compared to the colours used for the tabs etc?
Anyway, as said, I do think the new masthead is good, I do like the forum drop down options and I think that will help with regards to newbies finding their way around.
I still feel the fixed width is not as user friendly as the stretchy version. The other thing is that some posters do sometimes write fairly lengthy posts. On the fixed width page, these posts will seem intolerably long and many people may simply be put off and not bother to read/reply.Herman - MP for all!0
