I'm sure this has already been mentioned, but I'm not going to read through the full thread, but this is completely broken on Safari. I can't see images (masthead, quote buttons, anything) and I have to scroll down half the way (of white space) to even see the forum. When I click through to a board the thread titles are squashed into about a two inch space, and clicking on a thread means I have to go through the scrolling down process for the page to then 'jump' to midway through the page. So instead of going to the top of the page, it snaps to about the fifth reply down.
Also, when reading posts the page seems to slide up or down by a line or two, which is pretty annoying.0 -
It's the attitude of "the decision has been made, so like it or lump it" then to bleat about people not registering and this is the reason for the change. Maybe you should remember who got MSE where it is today - the existing members.

I like the 'stretchy, less bright' version bestOfficial DFW Nerd No 096 - Proud to have dealt with my debt!0

Oookay...
Panic over. I am on a widescreen laptop and hated the fixed width version, I nearly died when I saw it - like many others it was using about 45-50% of my available screen space.
Being a regular of DFW I was mostly concerned about the display of the fixed-size font SoAs, however...
I have changed my options to "new masthead, stretchy, less bright" and I'm actually fine with it now. It does look more professional - I do actually like the new masthead (not so much the picture but hey ho, can't win 'em all!); the only concern I would have would be that it looks a bit too corporate now.
Overall, thanks to the team at MSE Towers giving us regulars the option to go stretchy and not as bright, I'm absolutely fine with the change now.
No tech issues, but will report if I get any

I don't mind the fixed width, it's the same as other forums I use...but there is something not right and I think it's a combination of the text size - can I reduce it as it's huge! - and the fact that everything is so white and pale.
I appreciate the text might be good for some readers, but I'd like the option to reduce it please.0 -
I might give it another chance if something useful is eventually put in the blank space, but I bought a screen this size for a reason. If I only wanted to use half the screen, I would have bought a monitor half the size!
The only other (very minor) niggle I have is with the navigation bar at the top (the bit that says Main site > MoneySavingExpert.com Forums > MoneySaving & The Site > Site Feedback > Forum Update).
It's very close to the drop down boxes so unless I'm particularly careful, I end up activating the drop down menu which covers up the links, slowing navigation. Any way that can be moved down to where the "MSE has a new masthead. The forum’s also gone fixed width. Find out what’s changed (& how to opt for stretchy width)" writing is now?0 -

For anyone who (like me) finds the sidebar to be an annoyance but likes the fixed width, here's a user script that will remove the side bar from any thread pages but no others:
http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/124005
It should work in google chrome, firefox, opera and safari. The source code can be found here (it's just 3 lines):
http://userscripts.org/scripts/review/124005
and you can click here to install:
http://userscripts.org/scripts/source/124005.user.js
Sorry, how do we use this? I clicked on the link where you said "click here to install" but it just opened me another Firefox window with the script in.:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls

Hi folks
We are reading all your feedback.
I get the point some like stretchy, and will take on board the fact you want more 'readable width' within the fixed. We are going to have a look at some tweaks over the next month to do that on the fixed version (the stretchy will still be available mean time).
I hope you appreciate the choice we've given. Now we see that a decent chunk of people want stretchy I've tweaked the note at the top of every page so people realise they can get it.
Im very interested to see the 'bounce' impact - that's the forum's biggest issue far too many people come here - say they can't understand it and leave. So we're interest to see the impact on new users of the what we believe is easier to comprehend look now (less info is good in that case)
If it doesn't work it'll be changed, but we have to cater both to longstanding regulars (hence why there's options) and what we believe works for new users.
Right Im on at before 7am tomorrow so need to leave this now.Martin Lewis, Money Saving Expert.
