My dh friend brought us a 2-3 pound cod yesterday. I wan tot cook it for dinner. Would it be best to wrap in foil and put in oven with butter and lemon?
Any ideas? Also how long will it take?
THanks

sounds lovely...cooking time would depend to an extent on the thickness...not had fish for ages as the rest of the family aren't keen and £3 or so for one person is too much to justify. For what I've done...I start again...And whatever pain may come ...Today this ends... I'm forgiving what I've done -AF since June 20070

well i know you can cook salmon in the dishwasher sounds mad i know lol just wondered if you could cook cod in the same way as its very nice, it makes the fish come out steamed0

I once had sea bass cooked in a Sicilian way wrapped in foil with seafood round it (bag of seafood cocktail would do...) and some chopped tomato and white wine and parsley etc... there was butter in there too... I have to say it was absolutely STUNNING but as it was a restaurant I can't say how long they cooked it for... just that the premise, of using mussels and stuff as the accompaniment was brilliant. (if there was crabstick in the seafood cocktail I'd take that out...) You could always carefully open the foil to check if the flesh was opaque yet... don't want to overcook a fabulous piece of cod, do you??0

Does anyone have any ideas what I can do for tea tonight with cod filllets? Need inspiration otherwise it will just get battered and served with chips and mushy peas!!Sealed Pot Challenge member #982

I'd top it with thinly sliced onion and tomato, season well, cover in foil and bake in the oven. I don't like fish but OH loves it cooked like this.0

Battered with chips sounds pretty good to me!
I also like cod baked with a herby tomato sauce; this recipe - topped with cheese and ham - is rather tasty, too.
Back after a very long break!0 -
Put the fish in an oven proof dish, then fry onions or leeks, chopped bacon, cover the fish onions & bacon with cheese sauce, salt & pepper and top with grated cheese & bread crumbs. I usually serve it with some pasta & salad, jacket potato. YUM YUM:DNever play with your Bellybutton your Bum could fall off.:rotfl:0
