Right it is Monday, and I am a bit concerned that my eyes are watering like mad. Just hoping this is not the BB cream as I would be very cross thinking I have just wasted £9.99 on something that makes me look like I have been crying all day!
Monday is usually boss in early meetings and mad panic all day. He has not mad it in yet - I am suspicious.
As someone else said on their thread, I seem to be obsessing about money and the lack thereof .... it can't be healthy. Oh well this week and then Boss is on hols so it might be a bit quieter.
Nice and bright here today, but as I am going to be stuck on the office all day I don't think I will be able to gain much benefit other than a bit of day dreaming .....
I worked out that I do on average in the office 7.5 hours overtime (unpaid) each week. That does not include the extra done at home and so on - I reckon on average per week I do 2 extra days work - that is my weekend! This needs some attention ....Start info Dec11

Tuesday, and £800 paid of one debt and £400 of another. Brought one debt free date forward by 5 months. Smallest credit card bill for MANY months came through, so hoping DH is seeing the benefit of this and as it is making a difference to his head.
Breaking news, he also said he wants to get to the gym more - a good thing as he is not the healthiest bean on the planet!Start info Dec11

Morning all, well its nice and chilly here, getting darker by the second outside (and there was me thinking daylight was supposed to be brighter as you get towards midday!) Methinks we are in for snow or sleet at the very least as it was -5oC (brr)
Had a bit of a kettle nazi tantrum this morning. The inconsiderate so and so's int he office apparently can't get their heads around the very simple concept of use water from kettle replace with filtered water from jug, refill jug so water available for next person. This means I CONSTANTLY have to stand and wait for water to filter to be able to make a drink for any guests I have, and I have guests most days, so I need to make say 3 or 4 drinks simultaneously. How difficult can it be? So now off to make a suitably sarcastic sign with pictures to act as a guide.
OK off to write the shopping list for Christmas now Stay warm and safe everyone.Start info Dec11

DH comment on said Christmas list "it's a bit long isn't it?" 18 items - of which 8 are perishables I ask you! From the rest only 3 are non standard items the rest are replenishment items. I looked at him and said "really, tell me which bits you don't want to buy then" and he added 4 more!!!!:eek:
Still we have loads of vouchers for various bits on the list and so I am pretty sure it is going to be less than a standard week shop (although the last 3 weeks I have been shopping as so we have spent £30 :j not £70as is what happens when DH gets involved or heaven forbid £100  when does it himself. I buy exactly the same stuff for exactly the same number of meals and people - we don't starve so why does he spend so much???!)
So rules for next year - me to do shopping (which means I will get it delivered) and we shall save money. :T
He did comment how nice it was for the credit card bill to be so small so he can get more out of his salary - still loads of overtime for the next week so unlikely to see him til I finish for Christmas which is no major drama as then we have 11 days together, help I may have to murder him by the end :rotfl:;)Start info Dec11

It's nearly a year since I started this diary. What have I achieved?
I picked a debt to concentrate on, it's 50% gone would have been completely gone except for a dreadful tenant costing a complete fortune in malicious damage to my house.
Well it's not a bad start but not where I wanted to be
In addition I have managed to reduce the interest on another debt and have the rented house now paying for itself.
I have not managed to get DH to light up with understanding
I have kept reasonably fit, a bit healthy but not quite sane.
So 2013 here I come!Start info Dec11

I am very cross. Wrote a big long update and the nasty computer ate it before it was published. Grrrr
DH has been making funny noises about paying off loans, managed to "create" another £200 payment off his loan. He has been making a lot of noises about not having any money, being relieved about overtime being available. I think the harsh reality of his dire financial situation may be dawning on him.
I feel sorry for him, it's a rubbish time of year for that realisation when there is such blatant consumerism and extravagance. We both had a bit of a meh moment when we realised there weren't actually going to be any presents under the tree this year. I nearly caved in and went to get us something little to wrap and put under the tree, but I don't want the austerity lesson the lost.
Well we managed to get the usual weekly shop plus the nibbles and so on for visitors and the Christmas specials (stuffing, cranberry sauce and the like) for £10.83 by using a plethora of vouchers, special deals and shopping around. All we have to buy are the veggies, bread and milk next weekend and we are done til the end of the year.
We are currently ploughing our way through the hallway redecoration scheme. I have cleaned all the hous except the kitchen in deep clean mode, the kitchen has to wait for next weekend. Did loads of recycling and chucking out.
DH has seen the benefits of the food stores I set up, to the point where he removed a big bag of pasta from the loft and let me know!! He was a bit surprised at the tray of chopped toms I had secreted away

OH sounds like he's coming round to understanding. It can only come from him, no matter how frustrating that is for you
The Christmas food shopping bill is amazing. Well done you!

You are right. We will probably do the sales thing.
DH has gone into woe is me mode. Apparently as he has to make 2 phone calls and swap the can of paint so is over worked. This is despite the fact I offered to swap the paint today (answer no don't worry I can so that tomorrow) one call I CANNOT make (his finances) and the other he said "do you want me to call x for you?" Answer from me YES PLEASE now it's so hard as he is supposed to be sleeping tomorrow because he needs 12 hours flipping sleep. Gerrrrrrr men, I ask you!Start info Dec11

I have decided I really dislike this time of the month, I have paid nearly all the bills, the rent from the house has come in (thankfully) and the only 2 bills outstanding have money in the account, the credit card for next month has arrived so next month's cash flow has been sorted, and we have planned the next purchases for the next card statement to ease our cash flow. It is 2 weeks until anything fiscal happens and I can reduce the debt further, so I feel as if I am treading water. For 2 weeks. Every month. Maybe I need to get a grip and just accept this is how it is and I can get on and do something more productive.
Dilemma WRT jobs, there is a job I can probably do and enjoy but it is in a location I will not enjoy. I need to make my mind up today if I am going to get on and apply for it or whether I am going to let it pass me by. Part of me knows that if I begin to do this job I am going to hate the fact I spend so much time traveling and be completely shattered, plus the additional costs of traveling will knock out the small gains in salary. The other part of me says well yes, but it might get you to a really good place for a big upwards career move in 3 years time and so grit your teeth and crack on with the rubbish bit now.
In some respects I have nothing to lose by getting on and sticking in an application, other than if I don 't do a good job I will be really annoyed as then it is bound to get around the industry (very small and bunch of gossips) so might be harmful overall.
Someone just give me a clear instruction and take this decision away from me please! I just know it is the wrong place in the UK for me and us, plus we cannot move at the moment for a few reasons.
I suspect my Christmas spend it going to increase this weekend when I do the veggie shopping, although I am going to go to the farm shop and NOT the supermercados to try and get some money into the local economy and not MrT or MrS pocket. I do have a £10 voucher for MrS but it expires in Jan15 so I think I have a bit of time, unless of course 21Dec is really the end of the world and in which case WGAD?
I feel very sleepy and not quite with it today. Plus my neck is aching and I think I am going to go down with the Christmas lurgy ...... but I will be better for NYE so there. Actually the thought of being poorly on the sofa with tea and the dog and a blanket is really appealing, I am so tired my keyboard looks inviting!Start info Dec11
