well we are back home and could not find the fault with the car. Picked up an email from boss saying he wants to move my desk in the office - tried to dress this up and "ask" me but saw right through that one, CBA to even get involved in the damn politics so letting him get on with it and replied sweetly that if he felt his solution would be workable we could give it a go.
Managed not to spend a lot of money these few days away, although did eat out one night, but not too bad.
DH has been a right grump, if it's not a poxy mosquito "eating" him then the bed is too small, the curtains let too much light in or just generally he is with other people.
Done the update to the finances sheet, not too bad, and hope the August plans remain limited. DH has bought multiple tickets in an attempt to be a UK millionaire ..... and I have finally managed to evict the pygmies inhabiting the hay field that was the "lawn" dog was most pleased!Start info Dec11

So I have had a few days off and managed to get some work down to put in applications for new jobs, caught up on some sleep missed she coughing like a loon. Now i have to get my head back into a work mode and make sure the poker face is in place without a slip. Spent some time reading up on dealing with macheivellian characters, just makes me think !!!!!! why do i bother?
Anyway it pays the bills so need to keep it all together. I also need to summon up the words and lack of emotion to deal with matters hr and my desk move (blinking politics)
Updated spending diary and realised if I spend nothing more this month I have come in £55 under budget!!
Feet have been scrubbed and pedicured a la home cheapy method and I have sparkling toes also redone manicure for the working week, not sparkling! Washing was done and on line, and ironing completed realised that th clothes I have been selling on eBay IFA used all the money to but other clothes, so wardrobe shuffle compete for the time. That should confuse the boss when I start turning up in new clothes , perhaps he will think I am job hunting, well he will have to ask me wont he!
Really hoping that the expenses this month which I have just worked out will be confirmed then another £100 for the pot !
Have to sit down and sort out the household finances now!Start info Dec11

So, were you £55 under budget?

We went to the Olympics and watched the rowing today, very well organised and a really good day out. Sadly the prices were shocking and we were very glad we had taken an empty bottle for drinking water (£1.60 for a 250ml bottle of water and £4.20 for a 330ml bottle of cider - means these were costing more than fuel per gallon and lets face it fuel is flipping expensive!) and some sandwiches. I succumbed to hot cup of tea as it was a bit chilly but at £1.80 it was only the one! As I rarely drink out I have been reliably informed this is not too bad. It was in a paper cup though, not even chunky china!
Work needs a poker face and I have tried to promote the calm, serene and capable not flustered graceful manager. But I did end up telling someone off. And I have a sticky conversation planned Monday. Had the opportunity to have a salary bench mark done for free via an agency we have used (successfully) - it would transpire I am being paid at the lower end of the salary range they would expect to recruit me at. I know the answer is going to be "so we are in the ball park then" but it gives me some independent ammo to use. Plus you would usually expect things like pensions, cars and so on, which I don't get. I stared off feeling quite deflated, as if I have reached the top of my game and that is it - having had some time to reflect perhaps I need to take stock and review my qualifications and go for some more up to date ones or different ones in different areas. Some food for thought I think. I think I need to rethink my strategy and work out what the next phase of my working life is.
So yes. July has been and gone, and I was under budget. I have the money for France and I now need to organise Euros and European break down cover for the car, pack and then we are off. Manage to get some expenses in and hopefully this will bring in about £130 this month extra.Start info Dec11

I've been a bit slack here recently. Managed a LOW spend weekend even though we were out and about on all days - small spend split with DH for take away with parents and sister, then small spend on Sunday - planned and we kept well within budget. We have another weekend of events planned again so trying to make sure the spend it kept firmly under control.
Had a rubbish nights sleep as DH was snoring away, cuddling his pillow (I am feeling miffed that he cuddles the pillow and not me) even moving to the spare room and shutting the doors didn't stop the cacophony of sound. eventually dropped off to be woken up at 530 by the delightful next door neighbor who thinks it is acceptable to DRAG scrapping and juddering the rubbish bins out.
And boss is in an odd, odd mood. Head down.
Right Happy Monday, as far as that can be, the first time in a month I have to work all 5 days in a week in the office ....... grrrrrStart info Dec11

Hi missrlr, it's taken me a few days to read your entire thread and I have really enjoyed it (not in a moronic 'well my life's not so bad way') because you put in words what goes through so many people's heads. I feel like I know you so well and have laughed, cried (ok, so I didn't cry) and sweated blood and tears with you! I hope it's ok that I have subscribed to the thread, your humour in spite of adversity and many hilarious references to your doglet is truly inspiring. I recently started a new frugal way of living myself after realising that I literally fritter away heaps of money every month on carp.
I hope this week is so much better for you and that you get through the week without a) smashing someone's face in at work, b) smashing your husband's face in (he seems very very tactless at times) and c) not end up rocking in the corner due to inconsiderate neighbours and pesky doglets. Best of luck with that. x'No one can make you feel bad without your permission'

Morning Spendaholic66 - very pleased that my brain's meanderings give others a giggle.
Stupid question of the day "the air conditioning is too cold and I don't like it can you sort it" from the person sitting RIGHT BESIDE the controller for said air conditioning.
Boss as I said was in an odd (and by all account at the end of the day FOUL) mood. Snottogram arrived at 1945 last night giving me a b0ll0cking for
a) answering the moron who cannot press the PRINT button
b) trying to point out they needed to press said PRINT button without saying "oi dumbo press it"
c) not providing a step by step diagram on pressing said PRINT button.
My response - "I cannot replicate this issue and as it is nearly 8pm UK time this will have to wait to tomorrow"
d) all the above despite the fact I am NOT IT person
And now back to the disaster recovery plan rewrite - yea gads my life goes from low to low!Start info Dec11

Get your own very cuddly pillow and sprinkle some foul smelling herbs on his pillow! Cuddle doglet instead
...and keep at it looking for a new boss. I know, first hand, how demoralizing job hunting is, but it's got to be done. I had a couple of weeks where I found it more difficult than usual, I seem to be over that phase for the moment. You have so much more to offer a new employer, let's get you out of there!
