The hacking cough is abating, thank goodness. I was destined for one of the spare rooms if I didn't start behaving soon:o
Planted the last of the seeds over the weekends so we now have 3 tubs of Brussel sprouts which have more security than Fort Knox. Hubby only just stopped short of razor wire in his efforts to thwart the hares this year! I have visions of a little hare on hind legs peering through the assorted sticks and wire at a few meagre sprouts. I'm actually beginning to feel a bit guilty. The real hooligans arrived over the weekend though, the swallows are back for the summer and the farm cats know all about it. They are dive bombed on a regular basis. Even the massive tiger Tom cat looks a bit rattled at their behaviour:)
Heading south tomorrow so an early start and a late finish however good to meet with people face to face rather than by phone so it's worth it.
Floss - I've never heard of Santolina. It sounds pretty so I'm off to look it up. I love scented plants and tried unsuccessfully for years to grow lily of the valley. Eventually a late friend gave me several clumps which I planted and they thrived. Unfortunately I had no idea how destructive the roots were and they destroyed two raised brick planters which had to be rebuilt. To this day I'm still finding bits of them which I swiftly pull out. Ironic that they wouldn't grow and now I'm not sure I will ever be rid of them completely!0 -
FUDDLEY ONE is there any other way to enjoy life than by LIVING with gusto and enjoying the daftness of it all??? above all the LIVING bit of that is important and not being aware of your own worth and dignity in this life before being able to laugh at yourself and everyone else is worth more than all the diamonds ever made. Be true to yourself and realise we're ALL the same species (not always apparent) from the top to the bottom of society and laugh at the lot of them and yourself, it's a good life!!!0

Good morning all . Thought I'd pop in to let you know I haven't fallen off the edge of the world ! Just tired and struggling a bit at the moment as I sort one thing something else comes along and we now have two difficult situations at the same time.
Anyway I've done a very swift read through to try to catch up .
Candlelight I hope all went well at the renal appt and you are all ok and enjoying the garden .
SM,Fuds and other poorlies I wish you a quick return to health .
By the way Fuds I've mentioned it in the past on one of the threads for a cold and quite exposed situation the traditional tough lavender is best . I have grown both Folgate and Twickle Purple here for decades and they thrive .
I imagine Hoglet will have begun her new job by now so send my best wishes over the many miles that you will be enjoying it .
Monna I'm still sending the vibes that you'll find that forever little home .
Lainey I hope yesterday was a good day and although bittersweet it's another " first " overcome and a new tradition in place x
Sunny here today but much colder I can feel the weather turning .
I'm off to dig out some 4 year old paperwork and then as Sherlock said The Game is On!
Take care all I still light the candle at dusk each day and all are in my thoughts .
If you care to have a word with the Big Guy Monna I would be grateful . Any little candle flames or good vibes are most welcome .
Much Love

Good afternoon all,
A lovely sunny day here and I have just been taken out to lunch because it is my birthday.
Polly thank you for thnking and remembering. Yes saw the renal consutant yesterday, my kidneys are now stable, although the damage has been done by the BP tablets. He has discharged me from hospital into the care of the GP. I have to have bloods done every 3 months for the rest of my life, but any deterioration I have to be referred back to him immediately. I am quite relieved, I understand I can easily live with 75% functioning kidneys, so lets hope it stays like that.
Himself bought 2 lovely planters filled with flowers for me, and they look lovely on the patio, and he seems to be enjoying planning what next!!
I have been spoilt with lovely presents so I am one lucky girl.
Lyn I hope He Who Knows is feeling better, he has been through the mill recently hasn't he? It is good to know Nell is feeling good about her decision, it is their loss. She is too young to not have any sort of social life, and life is for living.
Polly you never seem to have much respite from ongoing problems. I have found a beautiful fragrant lavender candle in M&S, I will light this just for you tonight, it smells gorgeous.
Lainey enjoy yourself in my part of the world, I hope the weather will be as nice as it is today.
Fuddle you sound quite a bit better, I hope that continues.
Monna I hope you manage to find something suitable for both you and the younger people. You must be sorry to leave your lovely home, but think of it as a new adventure.:):)
Hoglet, how is the new job?
SM I can understand living in the country has it's drawbacks, but to a city girl seeing a hare in my garden sounds quite lovely. I know I wouldn't think that if it was eating my new plants
AOT are you OK? Are you having a sunny day today as well. I so love to feel the warmth to my body, but I think it is due to change to rain tomorrow.
Floss I love lavender, and of course when we go to Norfolk it is in abundence. We bought some pinks to go in our half barrell the week before last and they are doing very well. I was a little worried because here in the Midlands we can still have cold nights
Have a lovely Wednesday all and take care
Much love

Hi Candlelight, just back from a gorgeous sunny walk across the common and through the woods then along the lanes with Cookie, Sue and Charlie, blissfully warm out there today so nice. He Who Knows is off fishing as it's such a nice day. he went at 9 this morning and has finished his meds now and is feeling fine. The next few days will tell if he needs another course as sometimes you do with UTIs, I'll be keeping a close eye on him you can be sure of that. Ruthie has a date for Orleys op and it's the 7th June so very soon, we're keeping the few days around it free just in case they need us for Zebra, we can stay at Nells and drive down to get him every day and take him out if they need us to do distraction while the baby heals, no problem but I'm pleased for them that the wait is over. Nell saw the consultant rheumatologist this morning and nothing has shown up in the bloods but the scan she had shows considerable ankle damage from the operation that was to remove a bone shard and repair the cartilage, looks like it caused more damage than it fixed. She's referred to physiotherapy to see if they can help and has a 12 month open appointment and can go back at any point if she has problems, can't ask fairer than that can you? Hope you've got this lovely weather and are enjoying some outside time in the sun xxx.0

:bdaycake:Happy Birthday dear Candlelight . It sounds as though you've had a wonderful day . Glad to hear things went well at the appointment . You have the experience to keep an eye on your condition and the regular bloods will keep things on track .
That candle sounds lovely but please share it with all who will welcome it , not just me . Bless your kind heart and take care .
Lyn I hope HWK will soon be back to his normal self and he enjoyed his fishing .
Time seems to be flying it doesn't seem long since I was talking of Pandoras box before Orley was even born . Now he is due his op and all good wishes will be with you all . I remember when the procedure was quite complicated but nowadays it is common and more everyday .
May Nell now spread her wings and live the life she wants . How very sad she had to learn people take advantage rather than appreciate the willing and dedicated . Not good to be upset but it's lucky she found out now rather than pushing herself on and on and wasting time she can use to feed her spirit .
Back to the grindstone !

Bless you POLLY you're so very kind, thank you for caring about us all. We are very lucky in that Orley only needs cosmetic surgery not reconstructive and it should be a straightforward 2 hour operation and he should be back home the same day. We will have to re learn his little face as this will change how he looks and Zebra is being prepared for this by his parents in a very gentle way and loves his baby brother more than anything else in life. It's reciprocal as the smile Orley gives him when he sees him coming warms the world better than the sun, so beautiful xxx.0

Oh Lyn, I know it is for the best, but what a lot for the little fella to go through. It sounds to me as though your 2 boys will be friends for life, which is how it should be. I wish Orley well and all of you because I know you will all worry.
Polly I will share the candle with all who would like it, we now have another reason with Orley having his op.

Happy Birthday Candlelight.
I'm not doing too badly thanks. We had a sunny day but was a chill wind. Still, got 2 loads washing dried so can't complain.
Thanks for thinking of me.Use it up, Wear it out, Make it do, Do without.0 -
Happy Birthday Candlelight, blessings be upon your house xxx.
Nell has just rung and Ruthie texted both of us while we were nattering, the hospital rang and have put Orleys Op back to the 21st June, not a problem but 2 extra weeks to wait xxx.0
