Morning peoples, we have lovely sunshine but a stiff little breeze here and I woke up at 4 O' clock again for some reason and couldn't get off to sleep again, going to be a l o n g day!
Washing is nearly done and will go outside to dry, I have an Opticians appointment this morning and some ironing to tackle when I get back from that. He Who Knows has picked up another virus and is sore throated, thick nosed and miserable poor lad I had hoped he'd be able to go fishing today as it's nice but I don't think he feels up to it, shame!
FUDDLEY ONE I hope you aren't any worse health wise this morning but if you are my petal, hie the to the GP pretty darned quick and get your little self fixed. OK???
Have a nice day everyone, I hope you all at least stay dry even if the sunshine is elusive xxx.0 -

HWK's needs a wee break from the sniffless! Crikey poor man and poor you for not getting a bit peace but you would never say that.
I tried for an appointment but failed to pass the receptionist on the phone. I called in on the way down to school and said I was asthmatic with a recent history of pneumonia could I please have a telephone consultation. She agreed. As I was walking home the GP called and asked me to call in for a listen of my chest. So turned around and was seen within 10 minutes. My chest sounds all clear (but that says nothing as it always is even with the pneumonia) he apologised that he couldn't give me antibiotics or steroids and I laughed. I explained that I just needed advice on self help to help myself, and for it to not progress again. He looked at my back history then. Lots of 'oh dears' examined me further and I brought up the jab. I commented that the vaccine was surely for people who were at risk, that it isn't seasonal and for me to wait form January till September when a respiratory consultant has requested I have it was causing me a lot of stress and upset. He said he'll look into the situation but so did the last GP so I don't hold much hope.
Anyway, I went to my new pharmacist for advice. I have to drink a lot and I'm trying decongestants to rid of cattarh. In myself I feel an improvement. My tight chestness has subsided considerably. Of course, I believe that was down to the cloves.
Thanks for caring. I would really like to fight this off myself, if anything to get some antibodies and a little confidence that I might be over the worst of this ongoing ruddy saga!0 -
Well done small one, receptionists are tricksy beasties and I'll never know from phone call to phone call what sort of reception I'll get NOT GOOD! Poor He Who Knows has had to also have an emergency consultation this morning as I think this isn't a cold but is another UTI! He was offered the call from the doctor who said come up and I'll have a sample bottle ready (I know too much information) and also left a prescription for antibiotics so hopefully he'll be feeling better in a couple of days. Worrying as I'm up for the concert this weekend mind, if he's NOT substantially better I'll not b going. Oh for some warmer weather eh? xxx.0

Look after yourself Fuddle and take it easy. Am interested to know how you use the cloves. I've been struggling for over a month with what started as a cold, developed into a horrendous cough and has now clearly gone into my chest. I can't get a GP appt before we go off across the pond (19th) and I'm desperately trying to keep it under control.
Floss - good idea about the drizzle. I will make it this weekend.
I've been waiting for my rhubarb to grow enough to make a crumble but it would only feed a little mouse right now!
Lainey - I am quite muscular. My charming brother in law says I have shoulders like a Russian shot putter and thighs to match. If I could shed the fat layer I'm sure I could look like Miss Universe:D
Lovely sunny day here. I'm working from home as the persistent cough is annoying my desk mates in the office so I've been banished. Need to be back in tomorrow though as I have things to do face to face. There is an upside to the cough though - my water consumption is at an all time high, as are my visits to the the loo so I should be burning even more calories getting there!
Lunch break almost over so I'm off outside to see if there is any sign of the onions and carrots hubby planted last week. We are terribly impatient gardeners:)0 -
I just stew 'em in a mug of boiling water along with a slice of lemon, honey, cinnamon, knob of ginger. It's not the nicest combination but hopefully enough to get the oils released from the clove. It apparently soothes and is said to have anti-inflammatory effects; loosening airways. All I know is it all felt a little less scratchy after a couple of mugs. It could be coincidence but I'm happy enough to use it again and I know cloves featured heavily in my elderberry syrup recipe and that stuff is something I endevour to get enough for a year supply next season.0

Thanks Fuddle. Will give it a try. I hate honey but if I add enough cinnamon it should mask it. I think I also have some ginger portions in the freezer so nothing to stop me brewing up the concoction!0

Fuddle, that elderberry concoction of yours is magic. I made it three or four years ago when I had a good supply of elderberries over the wall in the church grounds.
It must have been magic because I've not had a cough since.I believe that friends are quiet angels

Fuds you can buy dried elderberries an elderflowers on t'internet, from brewing supplies places. The challenge with wild is taking enough elderflowers for cordial, but leaving enough for elderberries! Ask me how I know...DH loves elderberry wine and I love elderflower cordial (which I freeze in one litre blocks for all year round) so we have to take turns who can harvest year on year!2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇
