scottishminnie Would it be possible for you to go to an Urgent Care Centre about your chest? it's ridiculous that you have to wait so long to see a GP, especially as you're due to take a long haul flight :(

The journey means the HWKs is doing ok. Thank goodness. Have a good one and say hello to Nell for me but in my accent, yeah? :D

Floss consider those berries part of my cupboard stocks from now on. I saw dried blueberries too when I had a scoot around online. I think you've unleashed a bit of a new prepping beast :D

scottishminnie how are you doing? Ivyleaf I have had to access that service myself a fair few times too. I've seen urgent care more times than I should. They are a godsend. I don't know if it's change nationally but from April my walk in centre requires an appointment from 111now. I called 111 at the second bought of P the day after my mam died. My GP surgery was closed and I needed advice because with me crying a lot my 'acid reflux' was causing alot of pain and I couldnt breathe. 111 didn't get me an alternative appointment. Instead they blue lighted me to A&E. I've never been so lucky really. Godsend to the NHS. Ivyleaf how is your daughter recovering?

No such thing as urgent care centres in this area Ivyleaf. I'm struggling on, trying Fuddle's concoction now and again and I've taken to using an old facial steamer thing my mother had to see if it helps. I have two domestic flights on business before the long haul which I'm not looking forward to but not much for it but to get on with it. I may drop into one of the pharmacies nearby tomorrow. To be honest, although they are restricted to over the counter medicine I do find them to be more helpful.
Bedtimes are the worst part of the day, lying down just brings on the coughing non stop. Hubby is losing patience fast:(

We've had almost 5 dry days in a row up here but it is dreadfully windy. Great for drying washing but it's pretty chilly once the wind factor is taken into account so I've been inside more than I had planned tonight. I recorded Gardeners World earlier as a friend dropped in so I will be able to catch up with it over the weekend. I love the garden at LongMeadow and I like to see what Monty is up to each week.

Also need to tackle some mending over the next few days. Couple of torn t-shirts (what that man gets up to is beyond me at times!), some buttons and a hem all needing attended to. Should also look at what boots need reheeled now winter is over.

SM when I had the chesty lurgy recently I ended up sleeping half propped up - it was the only way to stop the night coughing.

Drat SM. How is it going today? I hope there's some improvement. The bug I have is slow to clear but I feel I'm slowly getting there now. My asthma is acting up and the stairs and I have fallen out again but plodding on. I'm not worried as much now as there's no warning signs for anything other than a cold.

Today is finishing off the wood/coal/kindling and bin store. You may remember DH started a while ago but the reason it's taking so long (aside for tradesman needing the yard space) is because DH is trying to get the wood free. So far it consists of pallet wood, timbers that were going to be skipped from building work at the depot and one of DHs drivers old fence! I need to use the warmer months ahead to build up a fuel store so for me.it's more of a priority than painting the bare plastered work etc.

Big news is that I finally plucked up the courage to fill out the company car insurance form so I can drive DH's VW Passat. It's a beast of a car (to me!) with a tow bar so that adds to the pressure but I drove it round an industrial estate yesterday and continued home. I just need to build up my confidence and learn the cars foibles but it's a big step for me to push past the nerves and just do it.

I picked up 3 glass storage containers from lidl yesterday. They're rectangular so ideal for me to get cracking with eradicating plastic from the food stuffs storage. I also got a glass oil drizzler from TKMaxx so goodbye plastic container there too. A long way to go, that's for sure!

Fuddle well done on grasping the steering wheel of the Passat! I had an unfortunate incident in a car park this morning, leaving a lovely red stripe along the side of a white Jag :( I've had my little Alfa for over 7 years and still don't know where the corners are :o

  • Good evening, we've had such a nice weekend, the concert last night was lovely and the church we were in is stunning, real Cotswold stone beauty and such lovely stained glass. The choral society were as good as ever and the pianists who accompanied them were totally amazing. Today we've had a nice relaxed time going to top Nell up for the week at Mr.T and popping into the 'Reindeer Shop' which is nearby ( similar to a TK Max) and having a browse in there before coming home and having some homemade mushroom and leek soup in the garden for lunch. I did her ironing this afternoon and Nell did some work in the garden and then we had a cuppa out there as the sun gently dipped below the horizon and now we're indoors and Nell is cooking supper. Ruthie has toldus Zebra doesn't seem to have the chickenpox, just bug and he's fine now He Who Knows had his supper at Cookies pub last night and is still feeling better so all OK there too. I'm home tomorrow on the train and will pop in later in the day. Hope you've all had a nice weekend too and FUDS hats off to you for driving the big car and managing to get it home too, well done pet! xxx.

I am just drawing a breath of relief. When I first logged on I was presented with the new format......eeeeeek!
However, when I clicked on 'post reply' it came up in my usual old format. What a relief!

Glad you've had such a lovely weekend Lyn. Not that I am surprised, you always enjoy your visits to Nell. I hope she is a bit more relaxed and rested now that she has managed to remove a lot of the stress in her school.

  • Thanks MONNA, we did (always) much giggling and putting the world to rights this weekend. Nell is absolutely 'there' now with being over the upset of not getting the in house job, the feeling is rather more that it was the catalyst in making her act on the decision to drop some of the periphery things she deals with and is one of relief and anticipation that she will get her life back and have more time to have a social life here and do things for 'her' rather than dedicate the 24 + hours a day exclusively to the school. What she does retain is the hurt that has come from colleagues who she now feels have let her down and not given the support she so desperately needed and a feeling that all her not inconsiderable efforts and willingness to do all the unfilled jobs others were reluctant to do have been seen as her being 'a mug' (her words) and easy to manipulate into doing them. Not so of course but hard to see it otherwise from the inside when you are hurting. It's one more small step in development as a human being and will be more useful than harmful in the future.

I'm on a late morning train home today, lunch is made and in my bag and I'll be home by 3ish when He Who Knows will pick me up from the station. Life as normal from tomorrow if the fates are kind! xxx.

You'll be on the train now Lyn. Safe journey back. :)

I've got rid of the runny nose :D Just the cough now and hopefully back to normal.

I have been a naughty girl this morning and chipped away at the turf. I was too hard really but I did a little bit. I'm not sure what I'm going to do out the front garden but so far I know I don't want food stuffs growing because it's ona main road and I can't have anything that needs a good drink because I'm not running a hose through the house! likewise grass and a lawnmover through the house.

So I need something that can hack a dry, windy, full sun from lunch time position. My only remit for the garden is to do some good for the wildlife so I have been pondering a little wildlife pond but I don't know until I've spoken to DH about it, being on the hill, and I don't know what it would look like really, being in a small front garden. I shall ponder and research.

I have also made a key holder. I nabbed a bit of offcut wood DH had left, battered to bits to age it, stained it, sprayed screw in hooks black and voila. It will do until I stumble across one I like.

Off to go make bacon and leek quiche and do some house work :( I don't like housework when I'm in inspired busy mode! :rotfl:
