I'll put my paw upon the candle too. I don't need to take but I can offer.
Happy Birthday candlelight. You do sound as though you have had a good birthday. The weather has been delightful for you.
I have been for my asthma review. I have the wording I need to say to get past the receptionist on the phone. I have become anxious about trying for an appointment and spoke about that. If ever I have a chest tightness or difficulty breathing I have to play that up, not down. I need to use the words asthmatic, emergency, and pneumonia and I will be seen. GP appointments shouldn't be like this should they?
She said she is expecting the P vaccine any moment (another different story) and sees it's important that I receive it. It's definately in my notes so I am getting there. My inhalers have changed and I have an asthma action plan at last. I know what I need to do when things go harsh and what to do when enough is enough and I need further help.
As a note on perspective my youngest DD's friend's mam has passed away at the age of 34. It's heart breaking and I'm afraid I gave my eldest short shrift telling me that her friend's parents are rich because the girl is getting an iphone and can go on a school skiing trip. I wasn't in the mood and she needs to learn about not comparing herself to others and not to put me down for not having the spare cash to buy expensive things and realise she is a very lucky girl to have a stable upbringing, that I didn't have and really, compared to me, she has a very rich childhood. I didn't know this little girls mam but I did know her face and I'm sad. It's all a bit too real and a bit too close to home.
To end by lightening the mood my neighbours are back from their holidays. You know I've been digging up the turf in the front garden? Well I gave DH a headache about how to get rid of all these bits of clumps of turf and in one suggestion from next door they are now grass faced down, back in place and I'm now flying with it. I need the membrane and some soil but the pysical work is almost done.
Well I'm supposed to be making chiili and jacket potatoes tonight but I'm not. I can't be bothered. There said it. We're ordering an indian takeaway, I'm going in the bath and going to ty to improve my mood because I have a lot to be thankful for and I don't like wearing my smile upside down.0 -
Happy birthday Candlelight. I'll raise a glass to you later tonight - that will be water only though since it's a school night!0

Thank you all for your good wishes, I have had a lovely day

Many happy returns dear Candlelight, it sounds like you have had a lovely day xx was glad to read that the appointment went reasonably well and that they will continue to monitor.
Polly, will add my light to the candle, strength to you m'dear x
Oh bless those two little boys Lyn, how lucky they are to have each other and to grow up in such a loving family.
You are an amazing Mum Fuds, life is so hard and unfair at times, never hurts to give an insight and a bit of perspective.
It's been a beautiful sunny day here in EA, have been outside for most of it, pottering in the garden and enjoying reading my book, lifts the soul.
Love to all and have a good evening.0 -
Life happens FUDDLEY ONE and we have no control over it so it IS very sad, 34 is way too young to be the end of a life but hopefully there were good times in those years and love, happiness and family, the best things in the world for people. DD1 is very young, it's difficult for 11 year olds to see the world other than how it's relevant to themselves and their peers. I suspect this other child is showing off a little and bragging about what she's getting and doing and trying to be 'queen bee' in the year 7 nest, just a phase love, your DD knows how hard you've worked to get where you are now, you've earned every brick of that house and every single thing you have in it and she will KNOW the cost of the effort. Idle words from a youngster can hurt beyond their true meaning, don't take it to heart your DDs feet really are firmly on the ground and rooted in reality she's just being 'pre-teenage' where the world IS what you have and the image you project to your peers.0

I was a bit hard on her really. Had I not been upset I would have dealt with it better, although I still would have got the same message across, just in a kinder way and with one of my anecdotes.
My girls are well aware that I can top trump any 'it's not fair' scenario.0 -
Hi all. I've just scanned through at the rate of knots and don't have much time so...............
Polly. Oh my love. Thoughts, prayers and loving vibes are coming your way.
Lyn. Three cheers that Orley is getting his op so soon. It will be over in no time and life will hopefully return to normal.
Fuddle. It's in the nature of teenagers (and your DD1 is there mentally) to be pretty materialistic. They are trying out various attitudes and philosophies to see what works and where lines are drawn. You have left her in no doubt! She has the foundation that you have laid down and won't go far wrong.
Candlelight. Missed your birthday. Sorry. Hope it was a good one. They come round quicker every year don't they?
That's it for now. Next week should be quieter and I will be free to bore you a bit more.

Very quick one from me . Another early appointment tomorrow .
I just want to thank you all for your kindness and support when I get a bit overwhelmed .
This little bit of mse is a very special place and was my safe place yesterday when everything got too much and my mind was racing .
I don't let go in real life but feel safe here and it does help to calm the whirring thoughts .
Each one of you is very special and I am thankful to be here .
Fuds I can't add anything to all the good replies you've had , been there done that and have the t shirts!!! You and your husband have laid firm and loving foundations and these outlive the various things both your daughters will encounter as they mature .
I always think the latest phone or other gadget is a bit like todays newspaper being tomorrows chip paper .
They learn it isn't what you have but who you are and the joy of being yourself rather than a clone of others .
Thanks for the paw on the candle and to everyone else for warm wishes , prayer and love xxx
Sleep tight all
Much love
polly x
PS Glad you feel a lot better SM . AOT I hope you are enjoying a bit of sun things are much cheerier when the sun shines and the aches and pains ease a little . Hope all is well with you Floss .
Now I need to think about bed .It is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.
There but for fortune go you and I.0 -
Oh Dear Zebra DOES have chickenpox, poor lad popped out his spots over yesterday but seems to have got the feeling ill bit of the journey out of the way over the few days before that. He's spotty but happy just a bit tired and prone to impromptu naps. Poor Ruthie has tonsillitis too and is feeling grim but is coping. We're still going to visit one day next week as she assures me that it's unlikely we'll get shingles from the visit, it's so reassuring having a medic in the family at times like these!0

Oh poor Zebra, get well soon little one and hugs for Ruthie x0
