Oh poor Zebra, get well soon little one and hugs for Ruthie x
SecondedDS got chickenpox when he was only just two and not really having any contact with other children apart from his big sisters, who'd had it years previously. We never did work out how he'd got infected, unless perhaps he reached out and touched an infectious toddler in a shop when they were both in their buggies!
Pollyanna Sending you gentle (((HUGS))). I'm sorry things are so difficult atm.
fuddle How very sad about your DD's friend's MamI hope there will be counselling available for her if she needs it.
My DD's chest flared up again so she went back to the GP and is on a 3rd round of antibiotics. Hope these will do the trick.0 -
Good evening all,
It has been a miserable day weather wise. Very overcast but not cold.
We did intend to go to B&Q fairly early this morning, but when we went out to the car Himself found a puncture. So he phoned the RAC who came out within the hour to change the tyre, after which Himself went to the tyre company, hoping to have the puncture mended, but it was found to have a split in it, so another new tyre required. We did eventually manage the DIY store.
I am off out with the "girls" tomorrow evening for a meal, catch up and exchange birthday presents so looking forward to that.
DGD is in Naples with her BF for a few days, she says the apartment they have is "amazing", so it must be good, but they had no idea what the lady said to them because she didn't speak English and they don't know much Italian. I am sure they will have a great time and she usually sends me photographs on her travels.
Lyn I hope Zebra isn't feeling too poorly, better now than when he is older.
Fuddle are you still keeping well?
Lainey I hope you enjoy your break in the Cotswolds.
Ivyleaf I hope your DD is now responding to the antibiotics, some of these bugs are really nasty.
Polly could you smell the lavender?
Love to SM, Floss, AOT, Monna and Hoglet, who must be really busy with her new job.
Take care all and hope the sun shines tomorrow
Much love

Hi Candlelight we're going to visit for a day, he seems to be relatively OK and just very spotty and gets tired easily but is not feeling dreadful, just not his usual sunny little self. Ruthie says it's better to have it while she is still home on maternity leave rather than when she's back at work which makes some sense. I'm taking a nice picnic of all his favourite things and a couple of little presents I've got for him and the first 4 ripe strawberries from Opas garden, he'll like that!
Weather here has been showery all day so I've got wet a few times walking various hounds and have Maisie here for the evening until 9 ish when she's picked up. She had such a lovely run on the common with a very tall weimaraner, a manic springer/lab cross pup, 2 enormous rotweilers and various assorted labradoodles, was such fun!!!0 -
You have strawberries? You have ripe strawberries?! Lol at the different world.
so sorry the little man is poorly and poor poorly little man's mum
Ivyleaf your DD is in my thoughts a lot. I understand the struggle she must be under breathing and just trying to get on with life. I do hope she is able to have the pain under control.
Candlelight I'm doing well. I have pretty much kicked that cold and just the lingering cough to finally get rid of now. Chuffed0 -
In the outside border in the garden too!!! I've picked 4 and had them ripening fully on the windowsill in the sun since yesterday and there are another half dozen that I'll pick for him tomorrow and ripen them over the next couple of days so he gets a couple a day. We've two rows of sweet Williams as well that are just coming into flower so I'll pick Ruthie a nice bunch that will open indoors and last a good month in water, fab little flowers I love 'em!0

We here on the Lancashire coast have tiny fruit but none ripe yet...
We've been to a wedding in the Lakes this weekend, came home and settled my tomato plants into their greenhouse while DH bottled some wine & beer. It was a glorious day beside Windermere yesterday so we went for a lovely walk before going for a scrummy meal in Ambleside.2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Strawberries?! I was overexcited because three of my tomato plants have flowers - I'd have laid an egg if I'd found a ripe strawberry anywhere:) I do have quite a lot of fruit on the gooseberries, blueberry and currant bushes though. The carrots and turnips are showing although I think hubby just throws the whole seed packet in so there is some thinning to be done soon.
I'm on the countdown to our trip across the pond. Off at the end of the week to see if the decorators have managed to neutralise the 80s style bedroom decor to something less offensive. Hubby is laughing at me because he spotted 2 Tupperware boxes, a cheese grater, 4 white pillowslips and some Lakeland moth repellent sachet things all ready to go into the suitcase. I know you can buy all those things over there but I have so many spare things here I'm just as well to use them elsewhere - oh, and a big box of Yorkshire teabags:o
It will be a busy week at work making sure everything is in place for the team while I'm gone. they are a good bunch though so I have no worries about their ability to manage without me. nobody is indispensable, least of all me!
Off to bed at a reasonable time tonight. I saw almost every hour last night courtesy of a very noisy pheasant who wandered the garden, squawking loudly until just after midnight then came back before 4. My fondness for this fellow is wavering a bit at the moment:D0 -
Quick post from our holiday cottage here in the wet, but beautiful Cotswolds. It was a good journey over, we stopped off for lunch at a smashing pub and then visited Moreton in Marsh for a look round.
The cottage is lovely and comfortable with many thoughtful touches, a real home from home
Love to all, will have a good read and catch up tomorrow xx0 -
Floss I was typing while you were posting . Sounds like a good trip to the Lakes with the bonus of good weather yesterday . I love the area but it's always a bit potluck on Sun or Downpour isn't it?
SM Have a lovely trip over the pond .
Nothing remotely odd about including those home comforts . Just make sure you don't pack the pheasant by mistake :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
I'm a yorkshire tea girl myself and have one at my side as I type .
Fridays early appt was her usual 2 weekly with the GP . We had a good long catchup on the latest developments and new different infection that has appeared . That scenario is an ongoing situation due to the lowered immunity and happens in many different forms .
As we were talking he was printing off all the prescriptions for the next 4 weeks adding a new antibiotic .
He booked in the next appt for 2 weeks time and said he was off on holiday after that . We jokingly said he'd earned it and I left saying he needed to get the yoga mat out and chill for a few minutes .
We went to the nearby town to put the prescriptions in to the pharmacy and they were having problems with the system . It usually takes 30-45 mins or so to sort and check all her meds so we went to M&S for lunch .
Went back collected the meds and went home .
TV is never on here until evening so we were oblivious to the cyber attack .
I have spent the days since pretty well glued to the twitter feeds from the 2 trusts my dds 4 hospitals are in .
Both trusts are still having problems , the trust furthest away seems to be managing fairly well but the nearer one has not been able to run much at all . So far all outpatient appts are cancelled .
DDs appt for the procedure she has needed since late summer last year is on Wednesday and at the further away hospital of the nearer trust if that makes sense . Fingers are crossed firmly it will go ahead as all efforts have been focused on keeping her anxiety levels down .I will probably find out tomorrow meanwhile I'll keep the lavender candle in my mind .
Sleep well all
