Have a lovely day Lyn. Good job you found a deeper-brimmed sunhat by the sound of it!0

Candlelight
Botched would be bad enough but so far there are at least five things that could have killed or injured someone. Now fixed!!! Lower staircase and landing were resting on two bolts! Upstairs bath could have come through the ceiling, electrics were bodged and multi fuel stove had scorched the wall so lucky the house had not caught fire. Electrics in garden for ponds were live so when electrician cut the wire there was a flash - a bang and his pliers melted! I know downstairs would have to be dragged kicking and screaming out of the eighties ( an elderly person's choice at that even thought they were not). I am consoling myself that things are being found and fixed.
It did not help that I was chatting to a neighbour and she said
"We all used to feel sorry for whoever buys that house!
On the bright side it looks good on the outside, has good facilities for buses etc and upstairs has three bedrooms so family can stay over when special events happen or if they need somewhere when moving house etc.
One of these days it will feel normal and there will just be normal upkeep I hope.
DDs did ask me how I could envisage how good it could look which I suppose is a compliment given that they nearly cried at the idea of leaving me here the first evening.
Hugs to all"This site is addictive!"

Well, it's the DAY!!! surprisingly given just how excited I am I slept pretty well but we were woken at 4 by a massive thunderstorm and very heavy rain and I just couldn't get off again until I realised the temperature had taken a nose dive and I was actually cold (we've only got the quilt covers and a couple of cotton throws on the bed in this heat) so I got a light fleece out of the blanket box and woke up again at 7 o clock as He Who Knows turned off the alarm! We're on a train just after half past nine, got the tickets yesterday and have plastic (and easily disposable) carrier bags with our few worldly goods in to carry what we need. They've said don't bring bags if you can avoid it which is so sensible, all we've got in ours is a bottle of water, waterproof coat and sun hats, and a couple of cereal bars for him and dried fruit bars for me to snack on if we don't get lunch. Factor 40 applied to all visible outside bits of us and now the big debate is whether to take a long sleeved top or not as although it's 17 degrees outside it's overcast, is going to rain again and feels chilly by comparison with the glory of yesterday. Going to have a wonderful day, will tell you all about it (inevitably, I know!) tomorrow! love Me xxx.0

Have a great day MrsLW'I'm sinking in the quicksand of my thought
And I ain't got the power anymore'0 -
It was a fantastic day but very long and very far from home and quite hot. We were pretty tired when we got back in the evening and glad I'd cooked jacket potatoes and chilli which were in the fridge ready for a reheat so we had supper within half an hour of getting home and that was as much as we had energy left to do so straight to bed and slept through until 6 this morning. Twickenham and the rugby crowd was such a positive and friendly experience I'm so glad to have had, it was so good natured, fans all mixed together in the stands completely harmoniously and all having a really good time. The rugby wasn't the best I've ever watched but was good enough and went to extra time and Exeter Chiefs won a well fought contest at the end of it.
Today we're off to find a 'new to us' garden centre as He Who Knows has a voucher and needs something for killing weeds, I'm wanting to do a little planting in the plots and sow some spring onion seeds and radishes which I'll need to get seed for and then we're due storms from lunchtime onwards so the Cookie walk is a little uncertain this afternoon. Feeling a bit stiff from all the sitting on hard seats yesterday so I'm off for a shower and then I'll try to keep moving and work it off if I can. Have a good Sunday everyone xxx.0 -
Glad you enjoyed the trip Lyn - I know what you mean about it not being the best rugby, we've been bored by England several times at Twickers around 10 years ago!
DH has got up & gone to the allotment, I am just up after a long lie-in, Whisky cat is curled up on the bed fast asleep. Plans for today include weeding, washing, picking the first strawberries, watering and relaxing
I need to swap some clothes over from my wardrobe to the rail in the attic, it's the last of my jumpers & thicker dresses. I also want to find my linen trousers but have a feeling that they got donated
Weather seems ok at the moment, but we are due rain later which will be good for the plot & my back-yard pots. It doesn't seem to be as hot today which is a blessing, it was too hot to do much on Friday & yesterday.2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Oh no Floss, don't say you've left yourself with no summer trousers  one pair of mine can't be found anywhere and I know i didn't donate them, so i hope they'll turn up before the end of summer.
Glad you had a good day Lyn - I just asked you about it on the garden fence thread, but have read your post here now.0 -

Ivy there must be a parallel universe with our trousers in it! I have found some F&F blue linen ones from their sale last September, but cannot find my navy onesI went shopping yesterday and managed to find some lineny wide leg pants in M@talan and bought them in both black and white, so I will survive

Missing clothing? Just thought that was something which only ever happened to me
I suspect in my case it's caused by too many items of clothing in the first place:o I hope you all find your missing pieces soon. I get a bit obsessive when I've lost something and it becomes a mission until I have it back.
Spoke to my mother today so it seems they are having good weather and my tomatoes and veggies are doing well, if needing rather a lot of water. I think the weeds will also be thriving so will be busy when I get back at the end of the week.
It's Memorial day here tomorrow and a holiday. There was a parade and street party nearby earlier this evening so we went along to pay our respects to the veterans and armed forces. It was great fun and all going well until the very end of the parade which was the local Scottish pipe band all suitably kilted up (very impressive in 94 degree heat). I'm not overly patriotic normally but I suddenly felt decidedly tearful and couldn't get out of there fast enough. As soon as I couldn't hear them I was fine. Hubby says he will never understand me::o
Hoping to find a cake tin or two before I return home. I like the Nordic ware ones but really grudge the cost so look for them in one of the discount stores here. Im quite often lucky so fingers crossed this is one of those times.
Have a nice bank holiday all. Will be the end of summer before the next one comes round- no doubt faster than we would all like!0 -
Oh dear, just had a text from Ruthie, Orley ended up in the childrens hospital last night with a very high temperature due to his chickenpox and they kept him in for observation overnight (Ruthie too), Ezra is with a lovely friend of theirs today and Ru hopes they will let baby home today but we're ready to go and sit on Ezra in an instant if they need us. Poor kids are exhausted with baby being unable to sleep for a couple of nights and poor baby feels so uncomfortable he's inconsolable. Parenthood is never easy is it?0
