  • I'm the only one who likes strawberries, He Who Knows can't abide them or cucumber and beetroot (both of which I LOVE!) so I do freeze some but these from the garden this morning were so weatherbeaten they'd not have been nice when they defrosted. I've 2 1/2 lbs in there for me and the rest in futures as jam for use/barter, giving as presents so nothing wasted which is really good thing.

Fuddle - you were nearby and didn't pop in for tea and cake - how could you?!:D

If you had stayed up here much longer you would have drowned alright but not in washing. Somebody up above has turned the big rain tap on and forgotten to turn it off. I'm heading south tomorrow in a desperate attempt to dry myself out:)

If you come down to the Lancashire coast, you'll get dry in no time - it's blowing a real hooley out there & the cat won't go out!

    Debt-free and Proud!
    Hello my friends!

My goodness, I've realised it's been so long since I've posted.

It has been a mad few weeks getting my head around the new job. Lots to do and sort out (it's a new role) and lots of relationships to establish. I don't think I'll be bored.

I've had heaps of work for my small business too so I've been working all weekend and evening keeping up with that.

Not a surprise then that I got hit by a bug last week, on my birthday no least, and have been recovering ever since. 8 days later and I'm still not right.

The cats have of course been up to no good, one kept me awake for 2 1/2 hrs last night snuffling around under the duvet. Since I had a course of B12 injections over Christmas I've found I've not been able to sleep so well. Before I could drop off no problem as I was so dog tired, the injections have helped to such an extent that I can't drop off at all. grrrrr.

Off to catch up on your news from the last few weeks.

    Much love
    Hoglet xxxx

Boredom is worlds worst negative hoglet. Go you! You must be super organised to thrive off it all. :D

The best holiday ever. I've got the photo's put into a book. Photobox have a 40% off deal. Can't wait to have it in my hand.

The girls are staying at MILs at the weekend so DH and I can assess the damage to the caravan (still not fixed from the tyre blowout), fix and clean up as much as we can and get it in for a service. We're itching to be back on the weekend short breaks again.

SM I waved from the Glaswegian skies though! DH's dad lives on the west coast so we stayed there when we got back. Driving back down via the Lochs and Glens had re-ignited our dream of having a yacht. Originally our dream was the South Coast, now we're thinking around the Western Isles with it's mooring near DH's dad. The plan is to pick something up that is sound but needs work. I doubt we won't be able to get the ball rolling with it until a few years because we have a lot to learn etc but I need to have a dream you know. It gives me a boost. :D

I've also a little more news to tell you. I have started A Level Law. I don't know what I'm going to do with it but, as it's distance learning, I'm able to put some of my time at home into my future. Law because I think it can be non specific giving me knowledge and skills for whatever route I may go down. Everything has Acts, rules and regulations wthin it hasn't it? ;)

And back to the real life. I've a chilli in the SC and will make HM wedges later. I forgot my trolley this morning so had to cart my potatoes up the hill. Lets just say I have learned my lesson!

The wind is supposd to go for the walk up after school so youngest and I are going to pick elderflower later Lyn. I am going to make cordial but also I have my eye on an elderflower jam. It's getting the balance between the flowers and the berries andhope that no one else likes elderflower! :D

Ah, kitchen is finished. I'll show you soon. :)

That little window is where the pantry used to be. I would have kept it as a pantry if it was still there but it was just a place for a table so I used the area as best I could. Christmas Dinner will be interesting sat at that window eh? :rotfl:

It works, I have ample cupboards now, especially using very high wall units. I did it as cheaply (while investing in better quality) and as free from frills as I could but I'm embarrassed to say that the cooker extractor has a remote control. I never use it and I'll tell you why... I have to walk into the yard to hit the sensor :rotfl: Pah to frills :D

    hi everyone,

Fuddle the kitchen is gorgeous, you must be so pleased with it and well chosen.

Well, it isn't raining today hooray, We have had torrential rain for the previous 2 days and my goodness it was chilly. Hard to imagine we were sweltering this time last week, but the garden and tubs did need it.

I am off to have a small cyst removed from my shoulder tomorrow, just at the GPs surgery. I have had it for years, but I thought it was time it was removed. It is quite high up on my shoulder and it can be seen when I am not wearing a jacket. After that we are going to vote. and oh my goodness I will be pleased when it is all over, but no doubt there will have to be an inquest on the whys and wherefors on the result.

Hoglet it is good to hear from you and so pleased you are enjoying your new job. It sounds as though it is giving you a great deal of satisfaction. We had to put Flora in the back porch because she would spend all night running up and downstairs. She is very comfy in there, she has 2 fleece blankets to sleep on, she has her litter tray and a bowl of water, and cuddles up to a cushion in the shape of an owl. She is always pleased to see me when I open the back door, and she has a curtain on the porch door to keep the room warm. SPOILT or what:):) You will have to have a stern word with your cats:)

SM glad to hear you are home safe and sound, although the change in climate must be a shock, I think you have had more rain than us.

Lyn, by the sounds of it you could have a litte stall at the side of the road to sell your produce. It all sounds gorgeous, and will be lovely to eat in the middle of winter. I didn't make any jam last year because I didn't have any free fruit. Our friend who has the allotment has not been well for some time so hasn't been able to do much.

Polly we are missing you, are you OK?

AOT, are you well, anything exciting happening now or in the near future?

Lainey, I read your post on the Daily thread, I hope you will feel better tomorrow. I hope Tilly is healing well.

Floss we have had quite a bit of wind with the rain, but of course we are not on the coast so fairly sheltered. I imagine being on the coast could be quite bracing at the moment!!

:wave:Hello to anyone I haven't mentioned, hope you are all OK

In these uncertain times stay safe and much love

    Candlelightx
