Oh Lyn, I am sorry, poor little soul. I hope they can come home today and Orley starts to feel more comfortable.
It is much cooler today, and we just popped out for some fresh bread and milk and there were armed police officers patrolling. For a second it was disconcerting to see armed officers follow us into Tesco (it is a big arena, so lots going on). I said good morning to them and carried on, but it is re-assuring to know they are there, I also notced all the waste bins were covered over.
We had the much needed rain during the night, but I don't think it was heavy enough to do much good.
Enjoy your Bank Holiday all and stay safe

I'm sad for the need of extra policemen, the army and the guns BUT I find it a great reassurance that they ARE there on the streets and presumably are instructed and allowed by law to keep us all as safe as it's possible to do, whatever the actions they might be forced to take. Brave men and women all of them, and it's appreciated greatly!0

Oh poor baby Lyn and poor parents too, get well wishes abound for little Orley x0

Just had a text to say they're on their way home, he's still got a raised temperature but seems OK in himself and they can go straight back if he soars again in the night, isn't the NHS a wonderful institution?0

That is good news Lyn, young children have a wonderful capacity to bounce back as quickly as they go down. They will all feel better being at home.
We have had so much rain this afternoon that I full expect to look out of my bedroom window in the morning and see The Day of the Triffids.

Oh Lyn, poor little Orley! I'm glad he was able to come home. Wishing him well very soon. x0

Lyn - I do hope little Orley is feeling better soon. I well remember the misery of chickenpox and that was a good 35 years ago. It's thoroughly miserable and will be even worse if it's warm there.
We are on out countdown to home. This is our last full day as we head home tomorrow afternoon. So this evenings dinner will be all the bits which are leftover in the fridge. We've eaten very healthily for the last 2 weeks. It's so easy to pick up fresh fish and have such variety so we have been making the most of it.
Not looking forward to going back to work but I just remind myself it's what funds this place so I better get on with it! Had a text from a dear friend earlier with a few requests for things it's hard to get in Scotland so I'm off out later in search of Montreal steak seasoning, cream of cheese soup and a few other bits and bobs.0 -
I suppose you won't see this until you get home sm, so i hope you had a good journey.
I just found the missing trousers (well, mine, not Floss's as well unfortunately.) They were in a garment carrier in the hall, with a pretty top I wore to a Christening last autumn and kept leaving on the coat rack because it really needs to drop dry on the line, so I was waiting for decent weather, then I'd forget about it again.
Lyn How is Orley doing?0 -
Afternoon playmates, we're back as of lunchtime and Orley is well on the mend, his spots are drying up and he's a much happier boy all round. They had to go back to the GP on the day following their hospital admission as he had a possible infection in and around one of his eyes but the GP gave an anti biotic to use if things didn't improve and they DID improve slowly so thankfully they didn't need it. I've never seen any child with as many spots and Ruthie had a chat to a colleague who is a virologist, apparently with chicken pox the more exposure you get to the virus the more times you are infected and the worse the subsequent attack. Ezra loves Orley so much it was just cuddles and playing as normal and Orley got dose after dose of the virus which is why he had it so badly.
We went to the Bath and West Show on Wednesday which was really a nice day out and then ran up to Nell for the day yesterday and did her garden for her so we've had a nice break, the family are on the mend and we're glad to be back home and He Who Knows is just going to mow lawns as we're due some heavy storms later this afternoon.0 -
Capt S also cut the grass earlier Lyn in anticipation of the forecasted thunderstorm and it must have rained for all of 10 mins, oh well it's done now.
He was supposed to be heading up to Headingley today to watch some cricket but decided not to go once he saw what the weather was doing, he may go sunday/monday instead.
It's been a relatively quiet week here, Tilly had her stitches checked this morning and pleased to say it's all healed well. She is a funny little dog, such a Mum's girl and tries to disappear under my arm whenever the vet comes near her
We did spend a lovely afternoon in Ely yesterday, lunch first at our favourite tea shop by the river and then a long walk along the bank in the afternoon sunshine, smashing.
Our salad plants are providing us with lots of leaves, just waiting on the toms now. I did plant up a new little border with a couple of grasses plus some alpines nestling up to a few large rocks, am pleased with how it looks. All I want now is a pot of red geraniums next to the front door and we are all sorted, my late Grandma always said that kept evil away from your door, who knows.
Hope everyone is well and enjoying the summer, much love x0
