    Hail demented Fuddle!

When I had a new kitchen in the cottage they had to lower the floor to get the cupboards in. previously I could put my hand flat on the ceiling without even standing on tiptoe, and I am only 5ft 2inches. The new kitchen was packed up in the living room and I just had enough space to wriggle my hand behind a box and switch on an electric kettle. We use to eat fish and chips sitting on our beds.
Yes. Demented describes the feeling perfectly.

Welcome home Lyn. You could live in that coat in cold weather. Think of the saving on heating costs.

  • Back to bread and jam Petal and things in tins and that won't hurt you for a few weeks either and then you can eat apples and pears and bananas none of which need refrigeration! Eggs are best stored at room temperature anyway and are quick to cook if you're relying on the camping stove and if all else fails there's the CHIPPY!

I like to think that my loved ones are close to me Fuddle and find the thought of their presence very comforting indeed.
Have fun with your camping, grit your teeth if necessary and fix your eyes on the horizon where the completed house awaits!
  • I know my dear old dad is here, he comes with us wherever we go and it's an absolute joy to still be able to talk to him and hear him laughing in my head when something daft happens and we've still got that Docky dog and Badger the Border terrier I sometimes hear him jingle down the stairs and know it's not Docky because he couldn't wear a collar due to a neck injury. Why spirits are seem as something to be scared of when they are people and beings you have loved who love you in return I don't understand at all, to me it's lovely!

Had a trip to w8rose this morning so we've now catered for until Tuesday next all I have to get is some milk from the local shop and that's everything we need.

Lyn I think many of us travel around with an invisible entourage , both two and four legged . Welcome back what a lovely holiday . I trust Nell feels much better now .

Fuds Will you have electricity available during the kitchen fitting ?
I managed well on the big farmhouse table in the dining room when the kitchen electrics were isolated . A microwave , multi cooker if you have either can be useful at such times .

Candlelight I hope all is ok with you and yours . I'm not sure when your holiday is booked for so may have missed that , it's unusual not to see you on here .

I suppose SM is busy cooking up a storm for the holiday period and sowing and growing .

Good to see Cheapskate back . That all sounds like extreme multi tasking but the end is in sight .

Hope all is well with Hoglet and all other posters and readers .

I have stupidly managed to sign myself up to Google+ this morning whilst replying to a blog . I've never wanted it and carefully avoided it but clicked the wrong box on the profile and now need to undo it . Sometimes I think for all the benefits including you lovely people the internet and I are not singing from the same hymn sheet .
I'm taking myself into the garden for a while , a mixture of low cloud bits of sun and strong , cold wind today but the rain has stopped so I shall go and clear my head .
I forgot to sow my french parsley seeds which I normally do mid March so will start with that . Lots of parsley coming back as always from last year so am not parsley deprived .
    Enjoy the break all

  • Thanks POLLY she is feeling much relaxed after a few days distance from work and problems. We talked it through while we were away and she's of the opinion that not getting the job despite the emotional upset might just be a much better thing than getting the job. She WILL drop some of the extras with official notice in writing to the head on the first day of term and she will have time for a social life, some relaxation time and time to go walking, do her craft and garden things, time to come home and time to spend with her sister and nephews and time to just be! this is a much better state of affairs all round than a promotion in all our eyes! xxx.

    Good afternoon all,

I am still here, but we have been quite busy with the garden, but all is well.

Lyn so pleased you had a lovely time with Nell, I imagine it was just what she needed, some time with her Mum.

Lainey, I am a great believer in those we loved never leave us. My lovely Dad died when he was 66, and everytime I see a robin in the garden I know that is Dad keeping watch and saying "thank goodness they are doing something with the garden". He was a wonderful gardener and both he and Mum had green fingers.

I went out with the girls on Tuesday evening to W*therspoons, had a lovely catch up and a steak and salad. I hadn't seen them since before Christmas.

I thought my retinal screening the other week went OK, but I have had a letter to ask me to go for a Slit Lamp Biomiscroscopy because they couldn't see at the back of my eye. Of course this is because I have an advanced catarract on that eye, so we shall see. In a way I look forward to having it removed because then I will be able to see through both eyes, but I know there can be quite a long waiting list.

Hoglet are you OK? Is it May when you start your new job?

Polly are things much the same at home? We have done quite well regarding medical appointments, but I have this one on Thursday and I have to see the kidney specialist in May, so blood tests again just before.

Himself is doing well and is quite enjoying being in the garden. I believe the problem was he was frightened to push himself (just in case) he just gets annoyed that he isn't as strong as he was, but I have told him I think that is age as well as his illness.

DD1 is coming for lunch tomorrow, but before that we are going to see a neighbour who used to live next door but one to us. She moved to a new house and wants us to see her garden, so looking forward to that .

Fuddle you won't know yourself when you are straight. When we had our new kitchen fitted, some years ago now, we put everything upstairs in one of the bedrooms, I hadn't realised how much "stuff" i had and I gave quite a lot to my Sister.

AOT, Floss and SM I hope you are both well, and Monna I hope the visit next week to the property up for sale goes well. I am sure you will know in your heart when you see it if it could be your home or not. Good to see you Cheapskate.

Have a lovely weekend all, the sun has come out this afternoon, I hope it has with you as well

    Much love

Lyn it's a shame Nell had to be upset so much but the more balanced life she now plans is a positive .

Candlelight You seem to be making the most of the garden , it was well worth doing .
My dad is also a robin ! When I was very small he used to tell me why they stood on spade and fork handles as they loved to be near to people . One of the blogs I read has recently been renamed "When Robins Appear " and reminds me of his words whenever I read it .
At the top of the page is a lovely embroidered ( cross stitch I think )
robin and the saying with Grandad instead of Dad . I'll stitch one of those at some point .
Oddly enough re your husband being cautious about tasks I have not been online a lot as I've been spending time really thinking through what I can do and what I struggle with in day to day life now .
I did dig out the physio exercises I was given some years ago which are tailored to my health conditions and am easing my way back into them as they've been cast to one side over the last couple of years as other things have taken over life .
I have also thought that following the rotator cuff problem last year I have developed a fear of the tasks I undertook in the period leading up to it happening . I'm going to test certain things one at a time and see what happens .
Himself has serious health issues so listening to his body and you is the way to go .
I hope you don't have too long a wait for the appointment but as we both know services are stretched as never before .
Thanks for asking how things are . DD is still waiting for the US Barbotage which will hopefully ease her shoulder pain . She's on the list but demand is high . Shoulder is unusable still and her Dr has had to max all her painkillers so she isn't too good at the moment .
On a much more positive note she managed to do something she's longed to do for years and attended a meetup of DW emporium members she has chatted to on line for years .
A friend of hers drove her to Bolton - quite a long journey - She went to a small theatre to see " Wyrd Sisters which she enjoyed very much and despite extreme anxiety went on to spoons and had a meal with the group . It was the day before Terry's anniversary and she did him proud . She was sending me emails from the loos during the evening and I was either laughing , crying or sometimes both at the same time . She sent a message " these are my sort of people "
She was introduced by others many of whom had their own struggles . No one queried the stick , not drinking alcohol or any of the other things that knocked her confidence through the bullying years .
Bless them all and also The Man in The Hat , she admits she would not be here still without him . A small meetup of just a few including a slightly older woman with same illnesses has been planned once the weather settles more , hopefully her treatment will be before then so fingers crossed .
I have some lovely pictures she sent of her and the people on her table . She is wearing her Tiffany ring , her I aten't dead necklace and the university scarf - she must have been hot - it just lacked the hat . A few days later cutting through Marks there in the ladies section was the black hat , reduced to £10 we'd not seen it before or since . It's even the small size as most hats are too big for her .
So happy DD and a very happy me . I feel she has a real life lifeline now '
Sorry for wittering , it just lifted my spirits and of course hers .
Ps The swallows are back , early again .

Well that was odd ! I again got the log in message when I was already logged in and sending the post above .
I didn't have the energy to write it all again so closed the laptop down fully and walked away . Just started up again and there's the post and I'm already logged in although I logged out before closing down .
    The mind boggles .
Parsley sown some things trimmed or moved and now it's hammering down with rain . I shall sort through the seeds which always brings joy , worth more to me than gold ingots especially now .
I was muttering to myself about the internet but then realised the story of my DDs evening out would never have happened without the ability to connect with like minded people through the power of it .
Gosh it's cooling down , bit Mallory Towers that gosh !
Have a good evening all .
