We've had some lovely weather this weekend, so have managed to sow a load of veg seeds in pots, and DH cut the grass front and back - it's still a mess from the building work, but I'm sure it will recover by summer.
Have a smashing break, Lyn.
 Fuddle, glad it didn't happen at speed!!!

Fuddle good point re tyres - I replaced 2 last year, not for mileage (43k) but for age as they were on the car new when we picked it up in Feb 2010. I'd replaced the other 2 separately following punctures. Glad you were all ok xx2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Hello everyone,
It's all very quiet on the thread at the moment....
Have to admit to having a bit of an up and down week, well mostly down if the truth be told, guess it's because it's the first major holiday since we lost Mum and it feels so strange not to be making plans with her. I find myself talking to her as I walk round the house or garden, is that normal, have other people done/do that? I don't know?
So, have mostly been trying to keep busy, spring cleaning the house and preparing for what is looking like a very quiet Easter, we saw the boys for breakfast this morning but they are busy with their own lives so that will be it. My DB and his family are away at the moment but we will see them hopefully on Saturday, maybe Monday as well if we go to the football.
I did find a birthday present for Capt S today, he is notoriously hard to buy for as wants very little but have got some tickets for a play at the Arts Theatre in Cambridge in May. It's a comedy with Anne Reid and James Bolan & has had some good reviews, we can go for an early meal as well to make a real treat of it.
Hope everyone is ok and looking forward to their long weekend x0 -
Lainey My lovely dad died in 1963 and I still talk to him now . I was still at school and a real daddies girl . Often I'll say come on dad help me with this and feel better for it . You can't just switch off feelings and to my mind the idea of getting over it is abnormal . You learn to live with it but you can't airbrush loved ones from your life .
Anne Reid and James Bolam are two really good actors . I admit I have the dvd boxset of " when the boat comes in ", probably before your time and enjoyed the Last tango in Halifax very much . Anne Reid did a really good series with the actress who was the face of BT which was really funny and I was sad when it finished .
Sounds like an inspired present , birthday wishes to CS I hope you both enjoy the play .
One day at a time sweetheart x
Been a long day here . Love the bank holidays but means appointment wise a 4 day week both this and next week which has taken some juggling .

There but for fortune go you and I.0 -
Bless you, thanks Polly x
We are lucky to have such a good theatre within easy reach and have enjoyed many plays there, we do prefer comedies which this one is but have also seen a very good Hound of the Baskervilles and a very scary Women in Black
It's not actually CS's birthday until the end of April but what with going away for a few days next week thought I better get a bit organised.0 -
Lainey you have to get the first of every holiday, birthday and anniversary without your darling mum behind you before things will begin to get a little easier. My dad died in 1991 and my mum in 2005, and I still feel their absence. It is harder on special days such as our wedding, DNeice's birth and DS2's wedding.
Glad you sorted CaptainS's pressie - is that the one about fracking? I think someone on another thread has been to see it, must look to see if it is coming up here to Fracking Central!2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Yes, that's the one, I saw it on the CAT website a while back and then also saw on the HB thread which reminded me.0 -
Hi all, just back from Nell via the garden centre with He Who Knows for a late lunch, certainly was delicious!
Berlin was another really lovely experience, no matter how many visits we make she has the capacity to entertain and please us. We did so much this time from a new Museum to a New Zoo and the Fernsee Turm and the Reichstag Dome were amazing. Lots of lovely retail therapy too and I GOT MY COAT!!! amazingly in a sale at half price and then because the Galleria Kaufhof branch was closing down when we got to the checkout it was 40% more of the half price and then because it was only a few minutes to closing time they took off another 10% so I got a down coat, like wearing a soft duvet for 79.90 Euros instead of 299 Euros which was the full price. I shall be toasty warm in cold weather from now on. Picked up some nice playmobil things for Zebra that we don't have here in the UK and a wonderfully soft puppy toy for Orley and a bottle of Asbach Brandy for He Who Knows too, fab!!!
Nice to be home, washing is in the machine and sausages are defrosted for supper and sleeping in my own bed, slippers etc.etc. etc!!! xxx.0 -
Welcome home Lyn you savvy shopper you.
Lainey I spoke aloud inviting mam and dad into the new house when I moved in. Just this very hour I have been holding onto Dad's chisel as DH is pulling up the kitchen floor and talking to Dad in my head. My youngest says she feels that grandma is in her room sometimes. She isn't spooked and quite likes thinking that it's her. I just know my house, albeit in it's upside down state has the same feel as my childhood home. I googled how to feel the presence of the deceased today too so you're not alone at all.
The final bits of kit have been bought ready for kitchen rip out on Monday. I'm demented living in a hoval but it's the last big thing. The windows are booked for install on May 1st. The fire place plastering has been fixed so that's another problem solved. I just have a little while longer to put up with upheaval then I can get to work making nice.
I am about to lose my fridge and the cupboards will be packed away tomorrow. I am to think about food we can snack on that doesn't need refigeration. I'll use the word demented again. :rotfl:0
