Dear Candlelight I do hope you feel much better soon . It does seem to be a time of relentless bugs doing the rounds , more so than normal I think .
I've found frequent visits to drs and hospitals does increase the risk . Not bad if you have a good immune system but if lowered it's quite possible . So many in waiting rooms don't practice good hygiene and cough and sneeze with not a handkerchief in sight .
Thanks for your good wishes and feel better soon .
    Much love
    polly xx

There but for fortune go you and I.

    Hello all

It's a beautiful afternoon here in East Anglia as well, clear blue skies and cold but a welcome change to yesterday's relentless rain.
It's just DM and me this afternoon, when I arrived she had just been poorly so is now having a little doze. I wonder if it's because they have taken her off the drug driver and back on oral medication, apparently she did see the doc this morning when DB was visiting so will catch up with him in a while, won't get much sense for a couple of hours as he is currently at a local footie match :)
Sorry to hear that you are feeling so run down and poorly Candlelight, please look after yourself x another one here who is back following the basics of the BSD, after a few weeks of high level sugar and carb eating feeling decidedly sluggish.
Lyn, glad to hear that HWK is feeling better and hope you enjoyed your walk. Like you say hopefully Ruth and all can now start getting into more of a routine, their family unit has changed from a triangle into a square :)
Like you Polly I am now wanting to tidy Christmas away so to speak but Capt S has begged one more day for the decs to stay up, have left him at home watching a war film with the tree lights twinkling and no doubt doing a sterling job of clearing away the chocolate for me!
Guess it will be full steam ahead now Fuddle on the house buying with everyone going back to work tomorrow, how exciting for you.

    Love to all x
  • Poor you CANDLELIGHT I hope that whatever you have decides to depart very speedily, keep yourself warm, rest up as much as you can, drink plenty of liquids and have some nice fruit and veg to up your vitamin intake, lots of orange juice pet that's always good!!!

LAINEY sorry that mum had been poorly when you went to visit it might be worth asking the medics if there is any chance of putting mum back on the drug driver if it was doing a better job than oral meds, they will definitely listen to you and may act on it. Hope she rallies and feels much better quickly. Hugs, hugs and more hugs Lyn xxx.

candlelight every little bug lingers at the moment. If it's not lingering it's coming back for a second try!

Are you feeling better this evening?

I've had a funny old few days. Quite down, a bit negative. It's very annoying because how dare I feel sorry for myself. I have a lot to look forward to! I expect I'll shake it.

I made a cracking stew in the slow cooker today. My best yet. I have discovered cornflour which helps. Call myself an OSer and only just cottoning on to cornflour. :rotfl:

I must leave you to hunt out some casual shoes that will see me through the spring. I'm attached to my snow boots but may as well see if I can get some sale items. I'm think hotter and clarks, any more?

Fuds in winter I'm usually in knee-boots or walking boots outside and Uggs or Kirkland sheepskin boots inside, but on milder casual days I wear Converse hi-tops with socks underneath, and on warmer days it will be my red Converse with trainer socks. Smarter (work) days are always heels & tights.

High tops! I like it Floss because I'm funny about my socks showing. They will be comfy enough to see me up and down the hill while ensuring I still look in me 30's :D Floss are converse decent? They have a fair old price tag.
  • Fuddle, thank you for asking, I have just said to Himself I feel human tonight, first time in about 4 days.

Don't worry about feeling a bit down, you are perfectly entitled to have a little wobble, and to be perfectly honest I think it is the time of year. Spring seems to be a long way off just after Christmas. I had a clothing catalogue come through the post this morning and I was looking at summer shoes in some lovely colours. I can't wear heels now, I did when I was younger, so I just wear ballet pumps in the summer, and they come in all colours, and I don't pay a fortune for them.

We have had a quiet day, had to pop to the SM for a couple of things, but not much, the freezer still has a lot of stuff in it and I did a load of washing but had to dry it in TD .

Lainey I hope you got to see Mum today, I wonder why they took the driver out and went on to oral again. The main thing is she is comfortable and relatively free of pain.

No more news at the moment

    Stay safe and sleep tight

    Candlelightx

I find them to be good value, as they will go in the washer if necessary (don't buy white ;)) and they last a good while! I've always found mine in the sales, or bnwt in CS's.

Anyway, I'm in my 50's and have 4 (pink, white, denim & bright blue) pairs of hi-tops and a pair of red regular ones for summer :D so don't be thinking you're too old!

  • Evening all. Just popping in to wish everyone a Happy New Year now that it has arrived. Al peaceful here in the Sunshine State. I've been decluttering so the local Goodwill shop has benefitted from quite a few things. The previous owner of our place left s pile of fabric behind. Most not too my taste but some nice enough that it will be coming home and I think I will make envelope style cushion covers with it. In fact I have sewing materials here (she kindly left them too) so I may well have them made before I get home.
Picked up a fleur de lys Nordic Ware bundt tin today for $15 which I was pleased about as I had seen them at £40 back home so it will be coming home to make something for Easter. Perhaps the Apple bundt cake I made before which was such a success.

Glad everyone seems to be well and keeping busy, what with new arrivals and garden planning underway. I'm making the most of the masses of busy lizzies in show since I won't be seeing them again for some months!

    Hello my friends,
Capt S and I spent the morning with Mum yesterday but she reallly is a poor old thing, sleeping most of the time and there is very little left of "her" if you understand what I mean. She is gone far into herself and we only get the ocassional ghost of a smile. It's hard to see and must admit that I am struggling now.
I did manage to speak to the doctor about the possibility of her going back onto the drug driver with the original medication, she asked if we would give it the whole 48 hours to see if the nausea would dissipate, I reluctantly agreed. What I really wanted to do was scream in her face that every day is precious to my darling Mum and to us, we hadn't got time to " wait and see" :( Of course I didn't, we don't do things like that in our family and Mum wouldn't like it I know but just for a second.....
Sorry this isn't a happier post, I try so hard to stay positive but know there is worst to come and right now am wondering where the energy will come from to deal with all of that, one day at a time is I guess.
I know dear Fuddle is already going through all that and my heart goes out to you love.
