Lainey that is good news that Mum is so much more comfortable. Yes we know this often happens, but she is there virtually pain free, "holding court:)" and giving her the dignity she so deserves. Even better is that she is able to enjoy a morsal of food, such a normal thing that most of us take for granted. You are right to make the most of these last days and cherish every moment.
The candle which will be burning tonight is a big Yankee candle which my beautiful grandson bought me for Christmas called red raspberry I think. When I light it later I will be thinking of you and your lovely Mum and lovely Polly and her darling daughter, and anyone else who needs a little comforting.
Can I wish you all a very happy new year, thank you so much for your friendship in the last 12 months, and hoping that we all have a better 2017, although it will be very difficult to top Lyn's wonderful news, especially after such a worrying time.
Fuddle you have so much to look forward to when you move into your new home, good luck and may you always be happy
AOT lovely to see you.
Much love and hugs

Just had a call from Nell who was still with Ruthie et. al. when Neils parents arrived this morning and she said it was so lovely to see Zebra firmly take the situation in hand and lead his other grandparents into the lounge saying this is MY baby brother Gran! Ruthie and Orley doing well, midwife visit was very fine with both of them and I know they are in good hands with Neil and his lovely parents and Zebra will so enjoy having Gran and Grandad down with him for a few days. Poor He Who Knows has picked up a sore throat and feels grotty so we'll have to wait for that to go before we can go back but that's OK!
I hope you all have a fun new years eve and I wish you all good things for 2017, harmony, laughter, contentment, fulfilment, safety, companionship and peace. Bless you all for being the beautiful and generous people you are, it's one of the biggest joys in life to know and share the good, bad and ridiculous with you all and know you understand! Love to all of you, Lyn xxx.0 -
Well Oma
will Orley have an MSE name like his big brother? What shall it be?
Lainey as we move into another year I feel a sense of peace. I'm involved with our hospice so visit for training etc. The feeling of warmth in our hospice is so deep rooted within the feeling of the building, people and family that it's such a contrast to that of the atmosphere of delivering paliative care in the home - which I used to do when I lived in Dorset. Of course it's all about choice and we all would like different things but I wonder if your mum might feel like she doesn't have to worry about you caring and worrying about her now.
I'm back home now. I'm quilting with no interest in that it's NYE. I intend seeing it in (if I'm awake!) with a hot choc, cream and marshmallows. x0 -
Oh yes, can't have a pet name for one without the other can we? I think he might become Oreo which Zebra will love.....I'll work on it!0

Fuds I'll raise a hot chocolate with loads of cream but no marshmallows they set my teeth on edge ! I was thinking Lainey's mum would be more settled knowing her loved ones weren't running themselves into the ground . Whatever the circumstances we all want to spare our loved ones as much stress as possible .
Candlelight I wish you and yours a good year ahead with improvement in Himselfs health . I truly admire your determination to keep him as well and content as possible and know it's a hard and relentless road to follow . Get some rest if you can x
Lyn I hope HWK feels better soon . So lovely you both have peace of mind now and can enjoy all the fun to come .
Wishing all who post and read here positive vibes and thanks for being a warm little corner of the forums x
AOT Soon spring will be here and hopefully you'll be out and about , take care of yourself .
Finally gentle hugs to Lainey and the family , thinking of you all x
Polly ( who is so far not feeling unwell ! )

Oh wow, Mrs LW, what an amazing end to 2016 for you! Many, many congratulations!
And Happy New Year to everybody, 2017, bring it on!One life - your life - live it!0 -
Morning everyone, didn't make midnight last night but wended my way to bed at 11.15 as I was tired and was off to sleep in no time flat! I hope you all had a nice time if you stayed up to see the New Year in and enjoyed any celebrations and fireworks that were going on around you. He Who Knows still has his sore throat and we're going to have another easy day and just rest him up a little until he feels better. I always feel a sense of promise on New Years Days at the thought of a brand new year ahead and have the hope that we can do and make everything in life slightly better than we did last year, every year we start to plan the veg plots around now and take stock of what was successful/or not and decide just which varieties we'll be growing in which plots this year. We change quantities according to how much we have left still standing or in the freezers and it's a good way to kick off a new season. Added excitement this year is that Nell and the two of us have booked a holiday in Iceland in the summer which I am so very excited about, she's been twice before and the photos are spectacularly beautiful so to be able to actually stand on the places they were taken from is going to be the treat of a lifetime. Baby Orley IS the icing on the cake though and to watch him grow and develop into a little personality and get to know him really will be a lovely thing to have in our lives. I hope you all have a lovely day today whatever you have planned and then I'm looking forward to tomorrow and back to everyday normality which has a lot to recommend it doesn't it? xxx.0
