  • I have just come in after having a meal with the "girls". Nothing special meal wise, but fun catching up with their news.

Lainey you do need time for just you and Captain Scarlet, and please don't feel guilty about having time to yourself. Most of us have been where you are now, so understand perfectly well enjoy having time together. Mum's illness is always there in the back of your mind, but for your own sanity you need just a little time for yourself.

Polly we haven't been able to access our mail (Yahoo) at all today, until I just tried, but I am not holding my breath for how long. I don't know what is the matter with Yahoo, it has been playing up for a while

    Sleep tight all

Lainey I so want to offer you words of support but I don't have the life experience to be able to express myself like the lovely ladies. I do think of you an awful lot.

Thankfully you know we are all here for you lainey and can sympathise with what you are feeling. As others have said when you get a chance grab a little 'me' time it will help to restore your equilibrium a bit.

This time of the year especially is hard because of the emotions that Christmas festivities bring out in us all. Your Mum is at peace with herself and knows how much she is loved by you all, you too must be at peace with yourself in that you are doing your best for her

Sending 'peaceful' vibes to you and much love God Bless and take care

  • What a difference today with the weather, yesterday was cold and thermal vests and today is mild and summer coats, most peculiar!!! Just had a lovely walk with Charlie and Cookie and saw irises in bloom, a gorgeous little bright orange rose almost open and primroses but strangely the daffodils on the footpaths that have been in bloom in December for the past few years are not even showing buds, just tiny leaf shoots and the magnolias all over the village haven't done their multi blooming this year, curioser and curioser as Alice said falling down the rabbit hole!!!

Popped into town on the bus this morning for groceries and it was so UNbusy it was almost pleasant. I'm finding that the things I normally buy aren't in the supermarkets at the moment, sliced chicken was only available in the wafer thin variety which I don't care for or the Truly Irrisistable variety which I won't pay for. Lots and lots of Christmas ready dones at exorbitant prices, I didn't buy a single one of them. Life has to go on until the one day that is Christmas Day so I can't see why everything is on hold and all that is available is party food, doesn't make any kind of sense does it?

Waiting for Maisie dog to arrive with her mum and we'll go walking and then keep her for a couple of hours and give her some supper. Then He Who Knows will walk her home, literally just round the corner while I cook supper.

Hope you've all had nice days, Lyn xxx.

Hi all, I've been reading but not had time to stop & post properly :o

Lainey your current daily pattern is draining on the family, it's surprising how much energy goes into doing not very much in your situation. Big hug honey, you know where we are xx

Candlelight I've got a few things bubbling at the moment - surprisingly it was all quiet on the job front until the middle of last week when things got quite a bit busier!

Mrs LW I know that feeling - I want things from The R@nge but a big chunk of their shop floor is full of seasonal stuff

Fuds fingers crossed for the survey, and I will send you a bucket of stamina to help with your mam's house :)

JackieO hope you had a good catch-up today, and treated yourself with your Lodge cheque :)

DH has been ensconced in his office all day so I am going to prise him out with the promise of some recorded Nigellisima on the tellybox while we eat! He's having poached eggs with black pudding on toast, I'm having poached eggs on spaghetti hoops on toast (a childhood tea for me!). It's his birthday next Wednesday, so I've been squirreling away his birthday & Christmas presents where he can't find them ;) Now I just need to remember what I've bought & where it's hidden :rotfl: As usual his works Christmas do is also that week (on Tuesday - ???!!) followed by their regional meeting the next morning. It's out somewhere beyond Bristol, which is quite a way to travel back up here and then celebrate, so we've deferred his birthday to next Friday when he's on leave, when I will take him out for a nice lunch and then 2-4-1 cocktails at one of the bars in town :D

I have to say that I'm doing such a variety of things during the days that I seem to be meeting myself coming back - not quite sure how I managed to work full-time before :rotfl: I still haven't written any cards, but I DO now have a few wedding photos printed so can start those tonight. I need to get them done this week as I have bought 2nd class stamps for them all :p I'm waiting for a courier to come and collect two parcels that should have been picked up yesterday...not happy with them right now. Will ring their local office and try to find out what's happening in a few minutes.

    Stay safe & warm everyone,
    Floss xx

  • Lainey I hope you have managed to have some "me" time, just to chill and unwind, and have time to be with CS.

Thank you Candlelight, yes we did manage to have some time together today, we went out for a brunch and then spent an enjoyable hour or so looking around an antique emporium. We didn't actually buy anything but was good fun just looking and being together x

Your day sounds like just the ticket Lainey and very much needed.

Lyn is Maisie doggy continuing to grow in confidence?

Floss we got the full mortgage offer today so all systems go.

I have sewn the first row of my patchwork quilt today and already it fills my heart with a homely joy. I would love it to be finished in time for the new house but it is eating fabric and more of a financial investment than I hoped so it all depends on what bargains I can find, what I can use in our wardrobes and what the charity shops can offer to complement the more expensive pretty fabrics.

I fell asleep at 7-9pm and really rather annoyed at myself for doing so as I now can't drop off.

Fuds Great news on the mortgage! And a great start on your quilt - what's your colour scheme? I have plans to make one but it's not happened yet!

  • Yes FUDS Maisie Doggie was much happier here last night, she came straight from the walk with just me, He Who Knows (she's very cautious with men) put her dinner in the bowl and put it down for her and she ate it with him standing beside her, she even took some biscuit from his hand and them she found her blanket on the stair half landing and alternated between laying there watching me on the computer and coming into the study to be with me. Lots of stroking and cuddles which she was fine with and we had her until around 7.45 when the family was back indoors and He Who Knows called her, she went to him, let him put the lead on and he walked her home on his own. Progress every week and in the fullness of time I hope she'll be as comfortable and relaxed here as she is in her own home. We're letting it go entirely at her choice of pace and what she is able to tolerate but her mum says it took a much longer time to get her to accept her carers where she goes for long stays so I think she quite likes us, which is lovely!
