Good evening all,
It has been a nice crisp day but cold. I also have put my decoratons up, we are grey, silver and white. Last year DGD bought me a collection of polar bears, so I have displayed them with white Christmas tree candles, it looks lovely.
Lyn you sound so full of life, your sensible eating is definitely agreeing with you, well done on the weight loss. The concert must have been beautiful on saturday evening, I always become a bit emotional about music.
Fuddle you have so much to look forward to. Just be sure your cough doesn't develope into anything nasty, and it won't be long before the girls finish school for Christmas, so you will have your little helpers with you.
Lainey I hope things are not too bad at the moment. I know Mum should be with you until tomorrow, take things steady.
Polly the same applies to you as well, take things steady and I hope you and DD don't have too many medical appointments coming up. If we can go 2 weeks without one I feel blessed.
Hoglet I don't know whether you would like to be back here at the moment. It is crisp as I say, but my goodness it is cold and they are promising freezing fog tomorrow, joy of joy.
I am off out for a meal with the girls tomorrow evening at the Cosy Club. I love to see them and catch up with the news, but I hate turning out of a winter evening. I will have a taxi home because I can't ask Himself to come out and pick me up. He is quite tired by evening so he is best at home.
All my cards are written (I have to go to the Post office for an estimate on the stamps) and all pressies are bought and wrapped. I have dropped a tin of biscuits off at the Hospice Shop and also at the Pharmacy where we collect our prescriptions. They are lovely in there and very helpful. I just need to buy the meat and fresh stuff nearer the time.
AOT are you OK, I imagine the cold isn't very agreeable to you either.
Floss will you look for a job in the new year, or do you think you might take a few weeks off?
Elona the girls did you proud with the decs didn't they? Your first Christmas in your new home, and you do sound to be content. I am sure your DH would be so proud of how you have coped. Has that bridge been built yet?
Have a good evening if you can, and stay safe and warm
Much love

Hi all,
Lovely to hear all your news and how Christmassey it's starting to feel.
Candlelight - I love the IDEA of a cold crips morning, but in reality - I'd like it for a day or 2 before hankering after warmer climes. It's been screaming hot here for the last couple of days - hard to sleep at night but beautiful during the day.
Christmas shopping nearly all done here - so nice not to have hordes, although it is noticeably busier than during the rest of the year. But there's not trouble finding a parking space, big queues or tonnes of people. When my parents were over a few years ago I said to my mum that I though the shopping mall was too busy - she thought it was practically deserted!
Although, without a bit of cold weather it actually doesn't feel Christmassey at all.
much love,
Hoglet xxx0 -

They are talking about the end of this year for the bridge being finished but I am not holding my breath.
Fortunately I have a post office, newsagent and small (very small) supermarket a few minutes walk away and a good bus service to Leeds or York.
There is a footbridge so we are not completely cut off, especially useful as the medical centre is one side of the bridge and the two chemists are on the other side."This site is addictive!"

Morning, damp, dank and chilly here today but family news makes it a sunny day!
Nell has been chosen to sing in a tiny group on Saturday, one person from each section of the choir have been hired for a soiree on Saturday evening to sing carols firstly outside to meet and greet guests and then inside to entertain them, the choir are also singing carols at a wedding reception on Friday evening and she's in that small group too so a very lovely musical weekend ahead for her, well done love!
Then from Ruthie the news that my Zebra is being an Elf in the nursery performance and she has made him a little costume which includes little overshoes with jingle bells on them and he loves it. Someone gave them a little red and white stripy pointed hat for the baby which he has decided is an 'elf hat' so he's got a jingle bell on that too. Can't wait to see the photos!!!
Today is St. Nickolaus day so to all of you 'FROHE NICKOLAUS' have a wonderful day! xxx.0 -

It's definitely chilly up our way on AOT. I have been in Newcastle today and although wrapped up like a fish supper my teeth were still a-chattering!
Lyn when you talk about zebra doing kiddy like things I have to pinch myself as I still picture him as a little baby. And a smashing elf he will make. Nell will get as much warmth from performing as those whom share in the atmosphere she helps to create. MagicMy sister's MIL is carol singing on behalf of her church and I quite fancied it but it's too far to trouble DH to get me there on an evening. I can't sing which is another bit of a drawback :rotfl:
My Newcastle trip was to sign the oath for probate. We're likely to get it in the next 10 days or so.
Now amongst the many bottles that littered my mam's carpet at one time and even though the house was falling into disrepair she would always take pride in her dining room suite. Nothing was to be put on the surfaces. It is the only thing she cherished and I expect it was because it was the only thing left from her time with dad. It's been awful trying to figure out what to do with it. We've tried ebay and charity (charity wanted fire hazard paperwork because of the chairs) but I have found a little place that takes in furniture and helps disadvanged and those with special needs learn restoration skills. They are going to collect the furniture after Christmas. I am thrilled that it's going to go do some good.
I didn't sleep well at all and awoke grumpy. Today is the survey on the house that the mortgage company arranged. If something is going to go wrong after getting through the financial history bits it feels like it's going to be here. But I am as calm as I can be considering.
I have 70 squares cut out and dared look at how many I need for my quilt... I shall keep cutting then
Tea tonight is going to be a cooked breakfast slimming world style and I can't wait.0 -
I hope you let grumpy go back to sleep again after he was awoken!!! would be a long day for him otherwise!!!0

Hello all,
Apologies for the lack of posting over the last few days, whilst she doesn't exactly take much looking after physically there is something so tiring about having Mum here to stay, think it's the stress taking its toll and the inability to focus on much else to be honest.
When we took her back to DB's this morning my SIL remarked on how frail she looked and this was from last seeing her on saturday morning, hate to say but she has lost some of her "spark" and seems to have gone inwards somewhat, think this is all part of the process and to be expected. As I keep saying, we are where we are, one day at a time.
Will be taking a couple of days to myself, we are treating ourselves to brunch out tomorrow and then plan to visit a large secondhand / antique store have been eying up for a while, would like some old flower prints to go on the walls up the stairs so will see what they have.
Thank goodness for internet shopping, have been able to order most of the presents I need so am fairly on track, only person who hasn't got a single thing is darling CS. We always set a small budget and buy each loads of silly little things, trouble is this takes time to look for such wonders and I simply haven't been out and about enough. Fingers crossed will be struck by some inspiration soon!
Lovely to catch up on all your news, rest assured I think of you dear friends throughout the day and know you are in my corner at all times.
Much love x0 -
LAINEY you're doing far better than it feels my love, watching someone you love so dearly fade and not being able to do a single thing about it because there IS nothing that can be done is more heart weary than anything else I've known. You will regain your sparkle in the fullness of time and you've had such a lot happen in a very short time it's no surprise that you feel bone weary this far in. Do what you have to do and you'll recover much more quickly because you'll have the knowledge in your heart and mind that you did ALL you could willingly, unstintingly and from pure sweet love and nothing else, it hurts anyway but knowing that helps with the healing.
Take some time, buy yourself something beautiful, sit in the warmth and have a glass of wine, treat yourselves to something really nice to eat, go for a quiet walk with those doglets and the world will gently click back into line and you'll be able to carry on refreshed. Love to you all, Lyn xxx.0 -
Lainey I echo Lyns words . You need some space to keep on keeping on once more . I hope you get a much needed break and find some joy among the sadness . You and yours are very much on my mind so much of the time .
Much love , light and strength beamed towards you all x
To everyone else I will catch up tomorrow - yes Candlelight more appointments !
Still no email access since Thursday evening which has caused a number of problems . I have looked at the Yahoo outage on the Down Detector site so many times since last week I now have an image of the map and large red blob on the uk every time I close my eyes . Just need some time to vote with my feet and move to another provider and change email address with those i need to inform .
Take care and stay warm all
Much Love
