    Hello all,

Am sorry to read of poorly loved ones,

Polly, bless your DD, how frustrating and scary it must be not to get the help you need, when you need it, hope she is a little better now x

Lyn, glad to hear that HWK has managed a sleep this afternoon, hope the AB's start to work very soon. Glad you had such a happy, giggly time with Zebra x

We are still waiting on news of a move for Mum, have to say it's all wearing me down at the moment, am trying so hard to stay positive for her but we get different news every day. Hate to be morbid but every day in the hospital is a day she can't spend at home. She has flatly refused to go anywhere near the hospice and is saying will not entertain 24 hour care until she really has to. But at the same time doesn't want us kids to worry about her, yeah right like that's going to work :( Anyways, enough of my troubles.

So glad you enjoyed your stay in Norfolk Candlelight and that the cottage was so lovely, you certainly picked a good week weather wise, thought about you often x

The girls are looking at me expectedly as its their evening walk time, just back from seeing my hairy horse, precious time with my furry friends indeed.

Have a good evening, much love to all xx
  • LAINEY I suspect that Mum is being as adamant as she is because to her way of thinking the Hospice IS acceptance of the start of the end of life. She's clinging to that hope of going home perhaps because it's the one thing she CAN have some control over at this stage and to agree to and say 'yes' to 24 hour care will feel like she's 'given in' to her. Pet, she loves you so much she's wanting you not to worry because she's trying to shield you from the reality that is in front of her, she knows you WILL worry and that there is nothing she can do to change things. Try to find calmness for both of you, it's scary for her too and no is ever ready to stop trying to live forever. Love you all to bits my friend, hugs, hugs and more hugs, Lyn xxx.

As always wise words my lovely friend. You are so right, all my darling Mum wants is to go home and live her life, even if it's just for a few weeks. I will worry no matter what, dread what is coming but will be with her whenever she wants / needs me.
Ever since I was little I have been regaled with stores of how strong the women in our family are, the glue which held everything together, all I can do is aspire to be the same. X
  • Oh dear, I've just had to go to the shop for some orange squash for my poorly boy who says that water just is too bland!!! I think he's feeling sorry for himself, I think he feels poorly and wants some fussing but not too much, poor lambie!!!
  • Good evening all,

Well here we are, almost at the end of another month. We have had a good day although the evenings appear to be cool now. Managed two loads of washing, mainly dried just finished the towels off in the TD.

We are both walking for about 40 minutes each day and Himself is doing really well. He would like to come off one of his BP tablets (he actually takes 3 together with all the others he takes for heart failure) so gentle exercise is going to help, so we shall see.

Having my hair cut tomorrow, so I might see what colour I actually am. If she cuts another inch of colour off I should be left with another inch to be cut in 4 weeks time and then all will be revealed. I really am looking forward to seeing what I look like with the natural look :)

DGD1 is off to Rome on Saturday with her BF, so it will just be Himself, me and the cat for a whole week. Talking of the cat she is coming out of her sulk with us, but it has taken several days.

Lyn how is He Who Knows? Is he feeling aany better now that the antibs have kicked in? I am sure you are being gentle with him and tempting him with lovely things to eat. I have sent for some tin foil containers from Am*zon so that I can do some batch cooking. I want to do Shepherds pies, chilli and bolognese. Also when we were away we went apple picking so have loads to prepare into crumbles and pies. These will stand us in good stead during the winter months if the weather is bad, another tip I gained from you.

Lainey I hope things are moving ahead now and Mum has made a decision.

Hoglet hello. The nights are drawing in so quickly now it is dark by about 7 pm and your's are drawing out. I suppose you will be on your bike now the weather should be improving. I hope Izzy is fully recovered and Flora sends lots of purrrrrs, even though she is in a sulk. Do your cats do this when you go away?

Sleep tight all and much love

  • Morning all, Hi Candlelight He Who Knows is feeling better in himself this morning as I would expect after 3 days of the antibiotics but still has the going to the loo too often problem, he's not an easy patient!!! I hope he'll improve from here on in and if he doesn't he'll go back to the GP here next week as I know sometimes it takes more than one type of medication to shift these infections, we'll survive (well one of us anyway!).

So nice to hear that MrC is doing so well, when I think back a few months to the situation you faced then I'm amazed at how far he's come back to normality since then, you're both doing something right aren't you? I'm glad you had your holiday away too, a change of scenery and routine sometimes is as good as a tonic!

LAINEY still with you my friend, still with Mum too and loving you all as much as is possible, stay strong, we all care!!!

HOGLET I hope Izzy is being his normal little mischevious self and that he makes a full and complete recovery, pickle that he is!!!

Have yourselves a good day everyone, Lyn xxx.

    Morning all,

Still here too, still reading along when have time and still feeling the love :)

Mum is being discharged today and going to stay at DB's just until the care package is in place, it all makes perfect sense as they have a downstairs bedroom with a wet room next door but still feel bad she's not coming to me. It's not logical in any way but there you go :(
What I can do is sort out everything that's needed at the bungalow, there are ordering a hospital bed to be delivered and we will need to get a single bed for the carer so bedding etc needs to be sorted. So busy busy for the next couple of days, fingers crossed she isn't sitting around for too long today waiting for the official discharge.

I did manage to get over to see Bill last night which was lovely, loads of hairy horse cuddles and quiet time which was much needed. Haven't seen much of my human friends lately so plans in place to all go out in a couple of weeks and then we are booking tickets to Your Horse live in November which have gone to before and thoroughly enjoyed.

Glad HWK is feeling better Lyn, deep breaths my friend, men don't make the best patients do they, must go back to the caveman thing and survival of the fittest :rotfl:

Enjoy your haircut Candlelight, I have been going lighter gradually as more & more grey appears but am tempted to go au natural and embrace the grey! It's fab to hear how well Mr C is doing, keep up on the walking :)

Hoglet, hope you are enjoying your spring and are managing to get on your bike more. How is Izzy doing, all well I hope?

Well, better get going, have a good day lovely people xx
  • Is it just me? or has the whole 'feeling' on these threads (except this and just a couple of others) changed of late. I'm picking up restless dissatisfaction everywhere I'm reading and I don't know if that's me being negative or if things really are as bleak and unhappy as they feel.
  • Hi Lyn, I don't read many threads, but I was so upset over what happened to you I try to avoid certain threads and posters.

I feel "safe" here amongst friends.

    Hugs

I wonder if you mind another little friend here maybe? I missed what happened and I don't need to know but I too feel a bit blergh with OS at the minute. Can I hide in here with all your positivity?
