Lyn, that's not very encouraging regarding adoption. I assumed these days there would be very few barriers, just the obvious. You would think with Nell's background they would welcome her with open arms. That attitude certainly won't encourage people to think about adoption, which is actually what their advertisements want us to do.
Have a good time with Nell (has she actually broken up for the holidays then?) ours don't finish until mid July I think

Not yet, mid July but she has that rare beast, a whole weekend without a school commitment so she invited us up to share it with her and Pushkin and she definitely needs some hugs and TLC!!!0

Hope you enjoy your weekend Mrs LW. What's this about decent weather? We have had rain, mist and grey cloud for what feels like forever. Occasionally that yellow things peeks though the clouds but quickly disappears again!:D The few plants I've got in pots on the small balcony are not progressing very well at all. Please send us some sunshine.
I had some lovely, unexpected news yesterday. It would have been my much missed OH's birthday and I always get a bit down around now. However, my goddaughter had a gorgeous little boy yesterday morning - his parents had obviously decided on an appropriate name for him - BUT because of the date he will also now carry my husband's name!:A I was in tears when told - it's so kind of them and shows just how much he was loved by many people - not just me.
Candlelight, I'm ok thanks. Just pottering along.Use it up, Wear it out, Make it do, Do without.0 -
Oh AOT, what wonderful news and how lovely about the name x0

AOT, that's lovely. Heartwarming to read in a world full of chaos.
Have a great day everyone.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
Morning everyone,
Just been catching up - AOT that's really lovely :-)
An interesting weekend for us - DH's calf muscle went pop in the middle of the match he was refereeing on Sat, and he had no one availble to take over so that match had to be called off. He's seeing the physio today so hopefully they'll set him on the road to recovery. One of the players is training to be a physio and he ended up helping DH on the pitch, bit different that's for sure! Poor man has been limping round all weekend, I managed to persuade him to put ice on it on Sat and got some anti inflams into him, yesterday he was being a bad patient tho.
I had a voucher for my birthday last month, so yesterday I treated myself to a hot brush. I'm not very good at making myslef look presentable but every so often I try to look a bit better. Not that it really matters, but it is nice. Anyway, I was very pleased because the item I'd chosen had 40% off and I had the voucher, so I only spent a few dollars for quite a fancy one. My inital attempts at using it have made me look like a hedge but I'm sure I'll get used to it. DH and I are going out for our wedding anniversary on Saturday so I might treat myself to a hair cut too!
I had some work to do for my little business too so I was up early both Saturday and Sunday. Fingers crossed I get some more!
Right better get on,
Love to you all

Hello all, back home after such a nice weekend with Nell. We have wrought much change for the better in her garden too, it is now neat and tidy, weeded and some old hoary climbers that had seen better days removed from the pergola and the pots they were in emptied, re filled and planted up with annuals. Everywhere pruned, swept and tidied so all looks super. We had a lovely cuppa in the garden afterwards, mmmmmmm heavenly!.
We talked through the adoption and problems potentially involved in the process and she feels unhopeful of the outcome but will continue with the application process for as long as she is able to and will go as far with the processing as they will allow her to go. She is OK, obviously disheartened and a bit sad but will cope if they do say no. It's sad that the rules are so inflexible though, I can see no way in which it will help either her or an adopted child if she is reduced to a state of poverty because it is expected for her to reduce her teaching to 3 days a week permanently, that makes no sense to me! However, I don't make the rules and if that's the way it has to be, then that's the way it has to be.
Hope you've all got this glorious weather we've got here in Hampshire, it really is beautiful out there and so very nice to be home again, I like home so very much, Lyn xxx.0 -
Hello all,
Good to see you back Lyn, and such a productive weekend as well. I am sure Nell must be thrilled to bits with the garden, poor girl doesn't have much time for that as well as everything else.
We have had a lovely sunny day here. Went to SM and then on to DD, she had just had physio, and he is very pleased with her. He also understands that her balance is still off. She has walked for years with the problems with the knee, and has walked in such a way to get about. He has watched her walk and her pelvis isn't in line with everything else. So she must be aware all the time of tightening her buttocks, pulling in her tummy and standing straight. I told her when you have had a baby they tell you to Tighten your buttocks whilst standing at the sink and suck in your tummy as well:rotfl:
She is definitely walking better and is not using her crutch around the flat, which is progress.
She is also planning the decorating of her living room, so Himself is going with her to a DIY store on Wednesday for paint, and then next week he and DGS will start and she is going to help as well. These are all positives as far as I can see, and she has ordered new curtains and throws. I can't tell you how relieved I am.
We are popping into town tomorrow, I have a nail appointment on Wednesday and on Thursday we are taking DGS and DGD2 to a carvery together with DD. Both children have stepped down now so I thought it would be a treat for both.
Good to see you posting Hoglet, and VJs Mum hope Glastonbury was good, you were very lucky with the weather.
Have a good week all
Much love

Good morning, another hot day but luckily we have some high cloud and a nice cool breeze which is making it bearable. I thought we were in for a deluge last night we were walking back towards the house when there was an almighty rumble of thunder and the sky behind us was purple and orange, really peculiar clouds and very ominous. We got home and battened down the outhouses and waited but .....nothing! We did have very high winds last night but only a small shower of rain. I've just made a big pot of pasta sauce, it's a meal we can make quickly in this heat so worth having some sauce made and ready to go. He Who Knows is off fishing late this afternoon and for the evening and I'm off for a walk with Charlie retriever and his mum when it cools down this evening, looking forward to that lots!
Candlelight, good news that DD is walking without a crutch in the flat, that's quite a big step forward isn't it? hopefully she's going to continue making progress and mobility will improve as she does. Hope the paint expedition was a success!
Hope everyone is well and enjoying the nice weather, hope that you're not too hot either, Lyn xxx.0
