Well, it did look quite odd CANDLELIGHT and the annoying thing is if I'd tried to make it look like that I'd never have managed it! It was quite hard work walking Docky this afternoon, the wind was coming straight up some of the side roads that lead directly to the river and was so strong it was blowing me sideways, I couldn't actually walk in some of the gusts, just feet moving but going nowhere and it felt like it was taking the air from my lungs, horrid. Never mind, back indoors now and with TEA!!!!! Oh how tea makes the world a better place doesn't it?
The forecast for tomorrow is for even stronger winds and gusts, so we've moved the car down the drive a bit in case we get tiles slipping from the roof, I've made some soup which will be easily heated on the camping stove if we lose the power, the solar lamps are charging on windowsills and my phone and kindle are charging too. I've tins in the storeroom that will make us a one pot stew on the camp stove and I've found the big vacuum flask which I can fill with boiling water for hot drinks and washing/washing up so I think I've covered most things. Hope all is well everywhere but prepared for disruption if it's not, Lyn xxx.0 -

Hello all
Hi FTM - so glad to see you back!
Just a quick update from me, poor old Socks came up with a huge abscess on her jaw. She had an op today and has had a drain today. Her teeth were cleaned at the same time to save some money from having another op. Poor girl is not happy and looks a bit dramatic but she seems to be well enough.

Oh dear Hoglet poor Socks I hope she won't be in too much discomfort for long.
Flora is presently chasing her tail but sends Socks lots of love and purrrrrrrrs

Gosh!!! there is a yellow thing in the sky??? and I had to peel a long sleeved layer when I walked that hound this afternoon, what is happening???
Polytunnel is looking good, we have in so far peas, in bloom and with pods set, climbing beans, still at the leaf stage, a cucumber, a courgette, 2 x stands of beetroot, 2 x stands of lettuces, some basil, some parsley, some thyme, some spring cabbages, some summer cabbages and some okra. and a big grid of newspaper logs drying in the not inconsiderable heat in there for the woodstove. The garden is looking empty as we've used up nearly all the leeks and have veg plots dug over. He Who Knows planted out a wigwam of runner beans on the last peaceful day before the high winds came and they're looking a bit battered so we may have to start again, we'll see. Strawberries are set and lots more blooms on them, masses of redcurrants set too, loganberries and blackberries full of blossom buds and all the apple trees are looking good, the old big tree is coming into blossom just now. I hope we get some nicer weather from now on, as the allotment is coming along nicely too.
We went to the garden centre for lunch today, they do a lovely jacket spud and we can take Docky into certain parts of the cafe, he lays on his fluffy blanket that we take and is a good boy, so that was nice. Have voted, have ironed, have walked my boy and houseworked and am looking forward to a relaxy evening with my book! Me xxx.
Have just been up and had a lovely time watering everything, I do so enjoy watering, and have realised we have a big patch of oregano in the polytunnel too, and outside in the garden almost ready is another picking of asparagus and the globe artichokes are growing on nicely too!! woohoo!!!0 -
Please thank Flora for the purrs and love Candlelight. Socks seems to be well on the mend, still quite gruesome looking but at 5.50 am this morning she was all over me wanting breakfast. They are a worry aren't they!0

Good evening all,
Well we have rain now, but the day has been good, definitely warmer and that yellow thing has been in the sky.
Sister and BIL came today for coffee, it was good to see them. He is still recovering from a stroke, but doing well.
At the hairdressers tomorrow morning, so should look human afterwards. My hair grows so quickly.
Sunday is my birthday so we are all off for a carvery, that is DD, 3 DGC and boyfriend of DGD1, and us two of course. We will then all come back here for birthday cake and cupcakes, so really looking forward to it.
On Tuesday I am meeting the girls I worked with for a meal at Wetherspoons, to celebrate my 70th and my friends 60th birthday, so it is all go here at Candlelight Towers.
FTM I can't find your blog but I have asked Lyn to point me in the right direction.
Hoglet hope Socks is recovering well, yes they are a worry to us, but we do so love them don't we .
I hope everyone is well and looking forward to the weekend. Take care
Much love
