    Good evening all,

Not a bad day here but cool, at least it was dry.

Washing all dried and put away, some of it ironed, just the stuff that needed it. We popped into town because I wanted some things from Wilkos, went into M&S for a couple of things and treated ourselves to a coffee.

Hoglet I hope Alfie is OK after his jab, and that the vet wasn't too unhappy about his weight, it must be those sausages he pinches from the neighbours:rotfl:

Lyn, have decided what I am cooking from the Feed the nation book. Tomorrow it will be corned beef rissoles and Danish Apple Pudding to follow, Sunday DD is coming for lunch so it is roast chicken and then on Monday the Lancashire Hot Pot. I will let you know how everything is received.

I have lit a candle for Elona's Husband, I hope she has managed some rest she must be exhausted.

FTM hope you are all OK and that you have a good Bank Holiday.

When I worked I looked forward to a Bank Holiday, but also knew I would be twice as busy when I went back, now they mean nothing to us really.

    Have a good weekend everyone

    Much love

  • Jolly cold here today with a strong breeze blowing so comfort food is required. I'm making cabbage with bacon and creme fraiche for lunch with a poached eggie and my supper tonight will be chicken and chorizo pilaf with some salad. He Who Knows is up with Nell and I don't get chicken very often as he doesn't care for it. They are shopping for her 'heavy stuff' today and going to the garden centre for lunch then he'll be home some time tomorrow. Had a phone call from Ruthie last night, Neil has taken the Zebra up to his parents for the weekend so she can revise for her very last GP training exam in peace, then she'll be fully trained and qualified. Considering she was 18 when this medical degree started and is now 31 it's a very long apprenticeship isn't it?

Hope all is well with all your worlds and that if you have this horrid dreary weather you are warm and snug and having a nice bank holiday weekend, Lyn xxx.

    Hi everyone,

Hope everyone is OK, it is a bit chilly here, so we have the heating on for a while.

Lyn I made the corned beef rissoles this evening and they were lovely. Himself couldn't believe they were from Feed the Nation. I crisped his up on top of the cooker because I knew he would like his brown, they were extremely tasty.

I didn't do the Danish apple pudding because I only had enough apples for an apple pie which I wanted for tomorrow because DD is coming to lunch. She probably won't eat it after a roast dinner, but at least she can take some home. Danish apple pudding will be for another day.

Have a good weekend all Still thinking of Elona and family, what a strong and close family they must be.

    Much love

AAAAAGGHHHHH some idiot in the next road over has just set off the noisiest and longest lasting firework I've ever seen, just I was trying to get the garage door open in the dark to get some dinners out of the freezer for Docky, queue totally panicked dog trying to get past me out of the house. Why oh why do people NOT consider the results of their actions, its 9.45 for heavens sake, why fireworks at this time of night? so totally inconsiderate and I now have a quaking shaking quivering wreck under the desk and likely no sleep tonight!!!! Grrrrrrrrr!!!

Finally got Docky settled on his blanket on the bedroom floor just after 1.30 this morning and then couldn't relax enough to get off to sleep. saw 2.45 and woke at 5.06 with him up on the bed and tucked against my legs so it's been a looooong night and will be a longer day I suspect. Off to walk him in a few minutes and He Who Knows is on his way home so Docky will be happier when he gets here, poor little fella!

Oh Lyn, poor you and poor Docky. Fireworks in May, what do you suppose that was in aid of, perhaps someone's birthday.

Perhaps you will manage a rest this afternoon and I am sure you will be glad to see He Who Knows.

absolutely piddling down with rain here, so DD is coming for lunch tomorrow instead.

Himself has hoovered upstairs and I have done downstairs, so we are clean and tidy, no point in doing any washing today, and there isn't much anyway.

Elona if you are reading, gentle hugs to you and the girls. If I were you, on Tuesday, I would phone the Register Office as soon as it opens to make an appointment. With them having a Bank Holiday they will be in for a busy week. Just bear in mind you will need the Medical Certificate of Cause of Death from the Doctor when you register.

    Love to everyone

  • Hi CANDLELIGHT Docky and I are grumpy this morning but He Who Knows has arrived and Docky is now happier, I'm pleased to see him too but just whacked! I have no idea why anyone would let off fireworks at 9.45 in the rain at anytime of the year and they were quite close, just across the main road through the village went on for about a quarter of an hour and so totally unsettled the hound I had the devils own job to calm him down again. I do SO wish that people would consider the implications of their own actions, just because you can doesn't surely mean that you should? There must have been kids woken up, older people startled and many other pets totally terrified because these were VERY loud and the type you get at displays, big booms and many many explosions and crackles in the sky. Total lunacy and I wish there was legislation about when fireworks could be obtained and restrictions put on when they could be used!!! Grumpily, Lyn xxx.

    Morning everyone

Candlelight - thanks for asking after Alf, I had a good guess, he weighs 5.7 Kg! But incredibly the vet said he wasn't overweight!!! He also said he was 'awesome' and 'magnificent' - well i could have told him htat but good to have it confirmed ;-) He was a little bit tired after his vaccinations, but also he is more snoozy in the colder evenings, so he's curled up with us on the blanket many evenings in a row now.

Other than that it was a relatively quiet weekend for us, went to some rugby on Sat evening (our team won, for the second time in 11 matches :-/) and DH had a game in the morning. Sunday we just knocked around the house but it was very relaxing.

Now back to work, where the dramas never seem to end!

    Have a lovely evening everyone,

    Love Hoglet x

    Evening all.

MrsLW - there must be something in the air this weekend. We were awakened at just after 11 on Friday night to the sound of fireworks. Coming from a wedding venue some 3 miles away. I get that people want to celebrate but the disruption to pets and livestock is just ridiculous and, in my opinion, so selfish. Anyway as it has poured since that would put a dampener on any more fireworks nonsense!

I had a bake in this afternoon due to the lousy weather. Made lime and coconut cake and a cranberry Orange loaf. Both were well received at my parents and I'm home empty handed so hubby has asked if I will make some scones tomorrow. I'm planning a 6 mile run first so it may be a lunchtime thing. I think I'll head to the treadmill though as I hate running in the rain. I never thought I'd willingly go for a run on a day off but I'm getting quite competitive about beating my last run time::o

I'm on the hunt for bedding plant seeds this week. Think I may order them online as I may not have the chance to get to the garden centre for a week or two. I see the interlopers have eaten my delphinium and as it was pretty pricey I think I will need to start with seeds.

I'm currently watching "Wild Alaska" - these guys really do things the hard way, make us look like rank amateurs:o

Enjoy the rest of the bank holiday weekend all - even if it's colder than January:)

    Good afternoon all,

As Lyn said on another thread it is blowing a hoolie here as well. Quite frightening when you have no control over it.. It is blowing down the chimney and Flora isn't happy about it.

Car had it's MOT today and everything is fine, thank goodness. We popped to Mr. T earlier for a few things we had run out of. BANANAS of course, if Himself eats any more he will be swinging from the cherry tree in next doors garden. He has bananas for low potassium, cherry juice twice a day for gout, and bottled water because the GP says he doesn't drink enough. The water in the tap is fine but he prefers bottled water:eek:

We are popping into town tomorrow to meet DD. She has an appointment to see if she is eligible for disability living allowance. She didn't ask for this so I don't know how they found out, and to be honest we are not holding our breath. I said I would treat her to breakfast after her health assessment (whatever that entails).

We are all going out for lunch on Sunday to celebrate my birthday so I am looking forward to having the grandchildren and DD with us. Having my hair cut on Saturday, I hope the weather is a bit calmer, I read your post Lyn and I had to laugh:rotfl:

Have friend and her DH coming Thursday afternoon for coffee. He is back with the cardiologist tomorrow, which they are a little concerned about. He had a bypass op just before Christmas, but he has started to be a little breathless so they want to check it out. I do hope it is something and nothing.

All the children (young people) will come back here on Sunday after the carvery so on Friday I must buy a birthday cake, usua;;y chocolate.

FTM I hope you are all well and the twins are thriving. I am sure everyone must be very busy.

Stay safe everyone and I hope everyone is as well as can be expected

    Much love to you all

    Candlelightx
