Morning all, cooler by far here this morning and misty with cloud cover, shame, I really enjoyed the warm sunshine we've had for the week!
We've gone very quiet on all the threads I play on of late and I'm hoping that this cooler weather will bring folks back to chat. I feel as if the forthcoming election might bring changes that mean we'll all need to have our thinking hats on to make ends meet in the future, the strength we gain from sharing ideas and support will be a much needed thing in our lives then.
FTM hope all is well with you and yours, it's bound to be hectic with new twins in the family and supporting Annie through these few weeks, thinking of you all.
HOGLET hope all is well with you in the Antipodes and that you are just busy with coming out of summer into autumn.
KATE hope you are beginning to be sorted in your new home and that your new battery chicks are settled now and much happier girls in their new home too.
FUDDLE hope you're just busy and don't have time to post at present and that you and the family have had a nice Easter holiday, hope the bunny wabbit is established now and giving you all much entertainment.
CANDLELIGHT you and I are the only ones with enough time to chat these days aren't we? I had such a lovely time with Zebra and now have the next 4 weeks without trips (at the moment anyway) planned and am looking forward to getting garden, allotment and hothouses planted up and growing on for the summer. Hope all is well with you and yours and that DD is feeling more positive about things. How did the redecorating go? or is it a work in progress? Lyn xxx.0 -
Morning all,
Yes it is quiet Lyn, our lovely friends have so much to do, I expect we were like that when we went out to work.
The decorating won't happen until DGS has completed his A levels, which I think will be someime in June, but she is in good spirits, driving and doing her own shopping, so that is a big step after such a long time. She has to go for a health assessment to see if she is eligible for disability living allowance, I don't suppose for one minute that is easy to come by so she won't be holding her breath.
The weather here isn't bad, but I understand it won't last. Have stripped the bed and the linen is in the WM, and we are popping up to our nearest Retail Park, which is about 4 minutes away.
The Zebra child sounds as though he is coming on in leaps and bounds, it must be lovely to see, after a few weeks, how he has changed.
Love to everyone and have a good weekend

I've just received a text from FUDDLE and she's fine and the family too. The company are short staffed so she's having to do caring in the evenings and 2 out of 3 weekends, poor kiddler is absolutely shattered and so time short it's unbelieveable.
FUDS if you get to read this don't waste precious time when you could be doing necessary things posting on here until you have real 'free time' to do it in. Keep your pecker up sweetie, it will end, but look after yourself until it does, love and hugs Lyn xxx.0 -
Evening all. Hope you have all been well. I think everyone is just really busy right now.
I've been utterly snowed under at work this week. 14 hour days, worked from home yesterday to try and get a break however I ended up started just after 6 and was still attached to the laptop and blackberry when hubby got home just before 7. The dishwasher hadn't even been emptied:o
So glad it's Friday night!
Sadly though the glorious weather came to a screeching halt around 4.30 today. It's now cold and chucking it down which apparently will continue all weekend. Just as my cherry trees are starting to flower too. I was really looking forward to my camellia flowering howeve I read the ticket today and its a magnolia bush:o I'm sure it will be lovely anyway.
Off to the butchers in the morning. Hubby doesn't request tags often but tonight he mentioned that we haven't had beef olives in ages so that will be tomorrow nights dinner. I'll batch cook and pop some in the freezer. I think if tomorrow is wet I feel a baking session coming on. I'm thinking empire biscuits and some tea loaves. I absolutely must pot the seedlings up this weekend, it's time they moved from the propogater and I didn't get round to it last weekend.
My friend sent me a text today, she was in a very nice, but expensive, farm shop with a butchers section. They were selling rabbits at £9.95 per pound. I've no idea how many pounds a little rabbit weighs but I thought that was really pricy. I told her if she hangs about my garden long enough she can have them for free.
Off to write my shopping list for tomorrow. I have become so bad at remembering things and I absolutely will only make a single trip out so it has to cover 2 classes at the gym and all the things I need to pick up. I've become really mean about the cost of diesel and running up needless miles on my car so I plan every journey. Hubby laughs at me and asks what happened to the girl racer who would have driven her sports car to the ends of the earth just to be on the open road. I guess the answer is I've turned into a boring old fart:D0 -
Good evening all,
Weather is much cooler today, but the sun has been shining. We popped into town this morning because we needed to go to the bank, Road works and diversions all over the place, but were able to access the car park eventually.
Popped into P*ndland for a few bits, and I am also collecting things for when DGD1 has her own place. They have a lot of Jane A*her cooking things and little dishes to cook in. I showed her at Christmas what I was collecting, and she was really pleased. I have put it in a wicker hamper, but now it is spilling over so will have to find a strong cardboard box.
We were trying to explain to her about how I used to collect for my "bottom drawer", but I don't suppose girls do that now. She is 22 so she will eventually have her own place, so I just wanted to set her up with a few things. Luckily she tells me the colours she wants for each room so I am OK there.
Going to see my Sister and BIL tomorrow, he is still off work after his stroke, and she says he still gets quite confused. He potters around the garden and when he has had enough he has a rest, but she is always on the alert. I know what that is like because i was the same after Himself had his heart attack.
SM you sound to be very busy, and I understand Scotland is really having some horrible weather .
FTM I hope everyone is OK and the twins are thriving. Please give Fern and Iris a hug from me.
Hoglet I hope the weather is being kind to you. Flora had an upset tummy on Saturday. I can't think why because she hadn't had anything different and of course she doesn't go out, but she seems fine now. Just one of those things I expect.
:bdaycake:DOCKY is 11 years old today so Happy Birthday Docky. Lyn I hope he had something special for supper tonight.
:hello::hello: to all our other friends, I hope everyone is well
Take care all
Much love

Hi CANDLELIGHT he had a tuna, rice and veg pouch for his tea, one of his favourites and some nice bikkits and a chewy stick so has been thoroughly spoiled today. He's currently curled up in his armchair fast asleep and warm, hard life being a lurcha isn't it?
Love the idea of you making a 'bottom drawer' for DGD it's such a lovely thing to do, I'm sure she'll be very pleased to have it if there is a mortgage or rent and bills to pay, not as easy to set up home these days as it was when we did it is it?
FUDDLE hello small one nice to hear from you and glad things are being sorted out too. Hope that Misty rabbit is being good and still giving you much amusement and fun.
FTM hoping that all is well with you and yours particularly Annie and the twins and really hoping you are all over your sickness bug and feeling very much better now. How is the allotment coming along in this better weather? He Who Knows has had to earth up our spuds last week and we've parsnips up and growing away too. Polytunnel looks great with peas in flower, climbing beans starting to climb and lettuces, beetroot, a cucumber and a courgette plant all coming along too. Still have kale and parsley to use up from last year too.
Look after yourselves everyone, Lyn xxx.0 -
Hi everyone,
And HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Docky :-)
We had a long weekend here to commerate ANZAC Day - dawn parade on Saturday which was really well attended. Then we all go for breakfast at the RSA (like the British Legion) and have a few drinks - bit early!
Sunday I had craft club out at my cousin's and I made the chocolate salted caramel tart again, without putting too much salt in it this time. Then Monday the weather was awful adn I spent most of the time catching up with some work on the computer.
Work continues on, I'm taking on some more responsibility which means a bit more money, so I'll be using that to line the walls of my exit tunnel when it is finally dug!
The cats are well, not enjoying the cooler weather although it makes them more snuggly so I'm happy :-)
Candlelight I was sorry to hear Flora's had an upset tummy - hopefully she gets better soon - Socks, Alfie and Izzy send lots of love xxx
right , sorry , must dash,
love to you all,

Hello everyone, we have such strange weather today it's either beautiful sunshine and blue sky or black lashing rain and drumming hail on the windows, poor Docky does NOT like the hail one little bit! It's feeling very cold too so we're wrapped up in throws and cradling hot drinks, haven't resorted to the heating yet though. He Who Knows is going up to Nell on Friday for most of the weekend to tidy up her garden and do few little jobs in the house so that lurcha and I will be left to our own devices. I'm reading through my wartime cookery books and planning some nice meals for the duration, I might even play at having no lighting and just have the candles going while I listen to the wind up radio, good practise for power cuts etc. Hope you are all OK and well and looking forward to hearing from you all when you get some time to post, Lyn xxx.0

Morning everyone,
Winter is very definitely on the way here - alst night we had the panel heater on in our bedroom for the first time. Our bedroom has 3 1/2 external walls so it can get pretty nippy in there. We replaced the loft insulation last year and this year I've bought loads of cheapy fleece balnkets. We pegged them up over the windows last night (the curtains aren't very thick) and had the ceramic panel heater running for about 3 hours before we went to bed - the room warmed up so much with the blankets up and stayed warm all night, wish I'd done that years ago!
Alfie's off the the vets for his booster jabs tonight - hope all will be well with him, although I'm dreading finding out how much he weighs - my money's on 6 kg.
Right, best be off,
love to you all
Hoglet x0
