Hi all,
FTM, poor Annie. I can't imagine how tough that must be for her. Glad you are all on the mend.
Candlelight, glad your daughter is coping with the news. Hope she gets a good summer to relax and then decide how to move on when she's ready.
MrsL, sounds like Nell and Zebra had a fab day.
Well, I wanted to share with you all that there has been a new addition to our household - chickens. We got 6 ex battery hens yesterday although 2 are for my parents.
Bless them, they don't have a lot of feathers but they are very sweet and not afraid of humans.0 -
Well done KATE, they may look ragged now but they'll be handsome hens when they've moulted out and grown new feathers. How lovely for them to be able to go outside and have space to 'be' chickens. They are a few of the lucky ones lovie, and will repay you with many delicious eggs!0

One has already made a bid for freedom and escaped under the wire - sneaky chook!0

Oh Kate they do look a bit sorry for themselves, but I am sure they will improve with love and kindness, and your home has to be miles better than what they are used to.
Good for you

hello all!
Sorry for not having been here much - been trying to keep on top of all your news. I've been asked to become a moderator for another online group I'm on and it's just taking up quite a bit of time at the mo as I'm getting used to it. I'm sure it'll settle down once I'm more familiar with my role.
FTM - poor Annie, that must be such a wrench for her, but I'm so glad that the twins are able to get the care they need at the moment
Candlelight - your DD must still be emotional over her news. It can't be easy, something unexpected will come along but it can be very difficult to believe that for yourself at the time, I do understand that. and thank you for asking about me!
Kate - I have severe chook jealousy! They will be looking fine before too long, and lots of yummy eggs :-)
Sorry, not much to report from us. Off to go and get my big bad moderator stick out again!

Poor Olaf has gone to his final sleep this afternoon, his teeth had grown massive spurs again and the vet and I decided that enough was enough and didn't want him to be uncomfortable for any longer. He will go in the back garden beside the rosemary bushes and always be in the sun, Lyn xxx.0

Afternoon all
What a mixture of good and bad news!! Babies and tummy bugs and chickens and redundancy - and poor old Olaf
I have been on my travels again - i do likes me ollidisDD and i went to New York, for her 18th and my ahem birthdays
fabulous it was too.
We did loads that was free or cheap (Highline walk, staten island ferry, brooklyn bridge, "Boris" bikes) as well as a few pricier things - Museum of Modern Art, the Rockefeller centre and a couple of shows. All saved for from change in a jar, money saved off coupons, and a little bit of moonlighting i do. DD declared it her best holiday ever.
Back to work now though - trying to catch up. Though only 2 more lectures till the end of the year. But a shed load of marking.
we have also decided to finally set to with DD's bedroom and turn it over to DS and she will have his room. It feels the right time as she is changing so much that it's good to sort it out and she can really decide what to keep, his room is smaller so she will have to cull stuff. Then his stuff will get moved into her bigger room - but, again, i feel much will get culled in the process :T Trouble is the dust we are disturbing plays havoc with my sinus so i can only do a little at a time. Our laundry line was a picture the other day though - a whole load of cuddly toys had been through the washer and were hanging by the neck to dry :rotfl:
Hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine - that, and the emerging leaves and our beautiful, perfect camellias make me feel a whole lot better.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Oh Lyn, I am so sorry, you tried so hard with him. Hopefully he will be in a sunny spot and feel the warmth of the sun.
There is an animal heaven you know, I believe, and I am sure he is there
Much love to you and Nell

VJs Mum sounds as though you had a wonderful holiday with DD, so much has changed for her in 12 months, hasn't it.
Our camelia is a picture as well, it is so nice to see colour in the garden. The bluebells are starting to flower, and we have the forsythia, primulas, and of course the daffs, I love this time of year.

Hello all..
MLW..o poor little Olaf..sometimes you just have to make that hard choice..i am so glad that Nell had a lovely time with Ezra and Ruthie and Neil had a lovely weekend and meal..
Candlelight..am so glad your girl is getting on with it..always a new day on the horizon and am sure she will find a new opportunity just for her..and according to Fern and Iris there is is a heaven just for the animals..its just to left of heaven so they can go home when they have finished playing with all the people up there..so sweet..
Kate ..wow your chickens will love you so much and yes they do escape..its when you hear the theme from Mission Impossible being clucked at you that's when you need to worry..hopefully you will get some eggs soon.
Well i have had the bug and so has Fern..gosh talk about Mum Down!!!..spent an entire day in bed..so did Fern..wow talk about weightloss..not nice at all..and we both still have wobbly legs..think it will be a day or 2 before we back to normal..
Baby update..Olivia is now in a hotcot..and having caffeine daily..Esme is just about to go in a hotcot and having caffeine also..they had a few problems holding their body temps but are getting there..also the caffeine now that was weird to be told they giving tiny babies it..but the girls are a bit too relaxed and forget to breathe..they recover quickly but it was happening too often..so the caffeine is given to stimulate them..
