Oh poor Olaf. I can't imagine thinking a problem had been solved but in actual fact it still being painful. That's awful :( Well done that vetty person and super Olaf for eating.

Thanks so much for the welcome. I really appreciate it. I have been busy with on call duties the past few evenings so haven't been online. I'm pretty tired and about to head off to the blanket show but before I do I have to tell you of the result of the guinea pig discussions... they turned into house rabbit discussions! We're researching but it looks to be an idea that we're all very much up for. Watch this space :D

Morning all, that Olaf is causing me great concern, he's just not wanting to eat and I've tried tempting him with all sorts of things he usually loves finely shredded or grated. He did try a few tentative nibbles this morning buit then went and hid in his log roll. The vet is saying if he hasn't started eating by tomorrow evening when er have his next appointment we might be takling euthenasia and that will be heartbreaking. Anyone kept piggies and had to deal with this before? I'd really appreciate some ideas at this point as I'm stumped. I might get him some pureed babyfood and syringe feed him with that today but I'm dashed if I know what else to try.

Lyn I am so sorry for Olaf.

We had a couple of guinea pigs when the girls were very young but didn't have any trouble thankfully.

It is such a responsibility when he isn't yours as well,I hope you manage to come up with a solution.

    Much love

Oh the vagaries of life, one minute you're everyones friend and the next you're a social pariah and all the ills of the world are attributed to you and the judgement that comes with them. I don't like to even consider that I might have been set up but it's a possibility I just can't rule out and if I was, why? I'm fed up with the silliness of other peoples fickleness thank heavens that you guys who are level, sane and normal people in every way are here in splendid isolation and just living everyday lives like me. I'll never ever try to sort out someone elses differences on a thread again.

That piggy is still not eating properly but at lunchtime he was eager for his feed of 'green goo' and was licking it off the outside of the syringe before I could get it into his little mouth so I think he might be getting hungry. I've cooked him some baby carrots which I'll puree and try to get him to take later on. I'm off to walk the boy and He Who Knows is off to the doctors with a sore eye, the nurse he chatted to thinks he might have scratched it and got him a doctors appointment after he told her how he'd been cutting wood and sifting compost in case it's an infection.

FTM glad all is well with Annie and the twins and that Fionna is well on the way to her wedding and you guys have posh frocks and accessories to gladden the day, enjoy, Lyn xxx.

Thanks Sara, it's nice to be welcome and you're kindness is balm to a bruised soul. Don't bother reading any of the whole sad saga, it's over, done and I even seem to have managed to close down a thread, has to be a record and I'm still whirling trying to understand how it happened in the first place. I think the pigaletto is actully poorly and he's used to being with us as we have him for half the time anyhow when Nell has expeditions so I don't think he's pining, just poorly and off colour. Lyn xxx.

If it helps, Mrs LW, my dad used to have a guinea pig whose favourite meal was crunchy green or red pepper and cucumber.
