Hoglet, that is a good idea, but she just seems to aim for one corner just at the top of the stairs
The plug in things also do a spray, and I wonder if I spray around that area whether it would put her off, of course there is the possibility she could just move to another area:)
I am just hoping she will grow out of it.
Much love

FTM it's a tidal river that feeds into the Solent and doesn't burst it's banks more overlap them a little bit and then the village is uphill from it so we're not likely to get flooded. I've seen it high enough to flood the car park to the riverfront pub a couple of times since we've lived here and it occasionally fills up the pubs cellars but only once seen it leave a wrack of seaweed half way up the slope and there was an 18" watermark on the walls when it receeded. It's a lovely river and nice to walk along the coastal path alongside it and also sit out to have a drink on a warm summers evening outside the pub and watch the boats come back in to their moorings.0

Good afternoon all,
I hope everyone is well and safe. The wind has dropped here today but it is very cold. We didn't go out at all yesterday, I baked in the morning and we both had a lazy afternoon.
Today I did a wash, popped to see DD and cooked lunch which was roast beef and all the trimmings. I took DD some sliced beef for her lunch and 2 slices of chocolate cake I made yesterday. Himself has had a short nap and Flora is still asleep. She isn't scratching the carpet quite as much. I have sprayed the carpet with an air freshener I bought from M&S for Christmas which is frankinsence and myrrh, I love it but it is quite strong and hopefully she is put off by the scent. Watch this :rotfl:space.
Taking DD shopping tomorrow, and nothing else planned, Tuesday I need to go to M&S to pick up some items I ordered on line and then Wednesday nails in the morning and hospital in the afternoon for my 6 monthly checkup. I understand from the weather forecast it is going to be cold for a good few days now.
Lyn I feel for you having the builders in, but think how lovely the bathroom will be when it is finished. I know when we had the kitchen fitted, a few years ago now, the fitters were here for a week but I was so pleased with it when it was finished. I was at work and Himself was on nights, and he says he slept really well despite the fitters banging and going up stairs to the bathroom.
Well I am a bit short on news today because there isn't much happening. Take care everyone and stay warm
Much love

Afternoon all - long time, no post -- again
SM - i envy you 69 degrees - though I am off to Singapore next week, where it is 28/ 82, though raining. It is for work, so i don't suppose i shall be out in it much. A week in Singapore and a week in Hong Kong. Excited and nervous!
We are also getting the builder s in tomorrow - also to do bathrooms. I have just cleared the ensuite in preparation. They are 15 years old (bathrooms, not builders) and were done on the cheap then, so in much need. I don't like having stuff done round the house, though. it quite discombobulates me.
Dropped DD off back for uni yesterday. She passed her driving test last week so big news for her. In one breath she was saying - "great i never have to drive again". In the next she was planning a road trip to Wales with her friend. :rotfl: Do you ever get used to leaving them behind? I will miss her - it has been lovely having her here for a month.
Big news for us is that we have made the life - changing decision to invest in a little holiday house. Life changing in that I think it will dictate the pattern of our lives for - well, the forseeable "ever" I think. OH is close to - and keen on - retirement. i think that will mean that he will spend a good deal of time at "the house", which is in Wales and means that he will spend much time volunteering on a preserved railway there. We were also contemplating where to move to once the children finally "leave home". he wanted to go closer to Wales, but my life is here. it isn't the prettiest town but it is in a most convenient place - especially to London or other big cities that I think the kids will end up in. This welsh house means he won't be pushing to move away. It means much belt tightening in the forseeable future though - we aren't really used to having to do this. OH isn't anyway. i will enjoy the challenge and the excuse
Have a great day all - I really must do that damn marking.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
VJsMum exciting times ahead, good luck I hope everything goes well for you

Oh yes, discombobulated sums it up perfectly and I shall be definitely discombobulated while it's going on to a great degree and certainly grumpy!!!BUT, as you say it will certainly be worth it when it's all finished and the builder has gone!
Still haven't heard from the builder as to if he's coming tomorrow but the bathroom is now cleared, the cabinet down off the wall and all that's left to move is soap, sponges, and tooth cleaning things so the work of minutes.0 -
Morning everyone,
Well here it is, I'm back at work.... Hvae to say I really was dragging my heels in this morning but the emails aren't overflowing (most people in the country have been off too) so looking for a reasonable positive start.
FTM - Socks is healing well thanks so much for asking :-) Stitches are due out this Friday and the cut is looking lovely and clean.
MLW - hope the building work goes smoothly, never nice, but wonderful when it's done
Candlelight - I look forward to hearing how Flora gets on with the air freshner... fingers cross it will deter her. Tinfoil also deters them as they dont like the feel of it on their paws - but I suspect you don't want your house covered in tinfoil!
Right, well not much news from us. House is clean and tidy (minor miracle), cats are behaving(ish), not too much in the diary for the next few weeks... That's me into the new year!
Love to you all

Found out the cost of the glass repair today... That and the vet's bill come to $950! We should be able to get slightly over $200 back from the pet insurance, but that's our planned trip away in Februrary out the window (quite literally) I'd say...
That's the last time I try and follow the sun around the garden with the washing...!0 -
candlelight I owe you an apology I should have replied to you days ago. Thank you for your complement. I try my best to be as kind to everyone as you are. You have been looking who lurks. I love to listen to the happenings of the flower tots.
I never get to my local hospital. Being a big area around Manchester most of the hospitals specialise. My cancer is very rare so I need to go to a specialist hospital. The Christy is world famous. Patients come from all over the world to be treated. I certainly am not the farthest traveled, I met a lady from Shrewsbury when I went for my scan last time. That is quite a way for a scan or just for an appointment. I am afraid I will never get down to six monthly checkups because I have to take my treatment every day for the rest of my life. I am not clear of cancer the treatment stops it growing and has worked fine for 18 months now. I am a little worried about the proposed cut in cancer drugs. Mine is one of those.
I hope Flora will stop scratching the carpet. It is an expensive thing replacing a stair carpet for one patch. Maybe she wants more attention. You could try buying just one carpet tile and put it in that spot that may work.
I won't be posting on here regularly. since I signed up for "not buying it" I struggle to keep up with it. I do post on four different threads.
Hoglet I am sure you will never forget that bill as long as you live.0
