Quick visit, using the data on my phone as no broadband!

    Welcome Daisy!

FTM, hope the girls are better and got to enjoy some of Christmas.

In the new house, the heating has continued working and it's toasty as we are running the heating all day to try and dry the house out. Dehumidifier running constantly!

Have switched electricity suppliers as the new house is on a standard tariff.

Ducks and cats settled in although boy cat is already desperate to get out; he was yowling last night but thankfully has settled down to sleep now.

Went to local Sainsbugs last night - love their whoopsies! 3 bags of jacket potatoes, some lettuce and cress for the ducks, sliced chicken for the cats and some oranges for making mulled wine - all 10p each! Also got 3 big steak pies for 50p each which are now in the freezer.

Happy Christmas to everyone and hope you all have a lovely new year.
  • Good morning all..wow its very cold here..all frosty..looks nice but dangerous..

The girls are ok now..had a few quiet days with them on the sofa's..hubby got sent home from work on Saturday..and Sam was ill also..it has been very quiet thats for sure..all snoozing away..i was relegated to the dining room..but i don't mind ..just glad they feel better..

Whilst i was in the dining room..i spent the time doing my memory jar and
then today i am sorting out my family organizer for next year.
I roasted a pork joint on sunday and then sliced it all..i had a lovely pork sandwich for my tea..i have put the rest in the fridge hopefully everyone will feel better enough to have some.
I did have a peruse through ebay too..i had put the Christmas money we received as gifts into the bank..i have bought the girls some new Frozen dresses..i also bought myself a lovely cushion and a new Handmade knitted tea cosy..we still have quite a bit left but i will leave it there and if they need something i will buy it for them.

I have sorted through my freezer and cupboards too..i won't need to do a shop for 2-3wks..only milk and bread..maybe some fruit and yoghurts too..but i will be saving quite a bit so thats good.

Thank you all for the welcome.

FTM, It is very cold here with lots of frost. So we will not be going out today.
Going to declutter a few drawers so wish me luck lol
    Not buying it in 2015:T:T:T
  • Hello all,

Cold and frosty here as well, took a while to clear the car.

We had a really lazy day yesterday, warm and cosy, both of us dozed for a little while in the chair, and Flora was in her chair, although of course she sleeps most of the day anyway;)

We went shopping this morning for a few bits, and took DD with us. She was hoping to start driving again but the roads on her estate are really icey so she is leaving it for a few days.

I have a big pot of bolognese cooking in the slow cooker, and an enormous chicken casserole in the oven. When these are cooked and cooled I will divide them up ready for the freezer. I now have some room in the freezer after using the Christmas stuff, so time to stock up again.

FTM so pleased the girls are better, but poor Sam and Simon now. It is a miracle you haven't caught it.

Have a good day everyone and try to stay warm

    Much love

  • Hi all..

Daisy..good luck with the drawers..i have been doing mine slowly through out the year..i like it much better now..

Candlelight..o i like lazy days..don't get that many but when i do its bliss..i honestly don't blame your girl for not wanting to drive in this weather..our road is a total ice rink..cars can't get up it..and have to come down very, very, very, slowly.

O your bolognese sounds good as does the chicken casserole..i too have some room in the freezer but not much..no-one is hungry so i have lots of food leftover..my fridge is still full..so fingers crossed i won't be buying food for a while..i do need some lavender comfort..and loo-roll ..

The girls are ok now..haven't been sick for a while now so hopefully they can have something to eat later..Sam is still on the water..Simon back at work but he really shouldn't be..bless him..

    It is a miracle i haven't caught it..no doubt i will..sooner or later i will.
I have caught up with my laundry and dried it all..now it needs ironing..it will smell gorgeous..
I have again been perusing ebay and got some real bargains..beautiful bright coloured cushion covers in yellow, red, green and orange for 99p each with free p&p..got to wait for them to get here but will be worth it..its part of my plan to bring Spring and sunshine into my living room for the New Year..
I would have made them myself but my sewing machine is still not working..plus i have been totally inspired by a book i received called "Vintage Home"..it has so many ideas in it..am driving Simon crazy with it..but most of it is totally do-able on the free or very cheap..am so excited..
Right have to go and fold bath towels and flannels..gosh they smell so good..

    love to you all

  • Nell gave us vouchers to go 'Walking with Alpacas' from a place near Winchester for part of Christmas, I feel so excited, I love them so much they make the most sweet Oooooooohhh noises to each other. We get 2 hours with them, learn how to handle and harness them and then take them for a walk beside the river and even get coffee and cake half way round, ooohhhhh Magic!
  • That's lovely Lyn, something to look forward to, and my goodness Nell deserves a gold medal for coming up with such an usual present.

Please tell us all about it when you have been.

  • Hi Daisy - welcome to our world!

I hope everyone had a good break and is now looking forward to New Year.
We had a pretty subdued christmas in the end. My mother took an allergic reaction to something (still no idea what) on Dec 23rd which resulted in us having two trips to A&E on Christmas day. She saw her GP on Christmas eve and he told her to go and buy over the counter antihistamines as it was nothing serious. By Christmas morning her eyes were swollen closed and she was having difficulty breathing. Thankfully the consultant at A&E was very helpful and immediately prescribed something much more effective. Within a few hours she was starting to feel better and the swelling was subsiding. I wasn't too happy about leaving her as we were due to head off on 27th however she assured me she would be fine and I'm checking home on a daily basis.

It's certainly warm and sunny here in the Sunshine State although our current form of bad luck continues. Hubby has shattered a crown on a front tooth this evening so tomorrow morning I'll need to contact the travel insurance company and then find a dentist. Maybe after that we can get down to doing nothing!

MrsL, what a fab present x
  • Hi everyone

We have had a wonderful time away - last night of our holiday at the moment and I'm catching up with you all whilst DH waits for our fish and chips...

The weather has been 27 degrees the whole time we've been here - too got to stay in the tent past 7am and it's just been the most relaxing time away. Wine tours, fishing, our own made up foodie tour of honey and olive producers today, plus lots of lounging round in the sun reading. I feel very relaxed and very blessed.

Just wante to drop in to say happy new year to you all and to wish you a safe 2015.

Home tomorrow, and I can't wait to see those cats :-)

    Much love,

    Hoglet x
