:snow_laugGood evening all
Hope everyone is well. What a night last night, the winds were really dreadful, I expected to see damage in the garden, but everything seems to be OK.
I just want to say how sorry I am about the terrible accident in Glasgow, and send love and prayers to all of those involved, and those who unfortunately witnessed it as well.
SM I hope everything is going to plan, you sound organised as well.
Lyn I hope you have had a wonderful time, did you buy anything at the markets?
Had my nails done this morning, dropped a few things round to DGS who ordered presents for his Mum off Amazon on my laptop and had them delivered here. Only had a small amount of washing, but did it on a light load, really just to keep on top of it.
Tomorrow we are going for the fresh stuff from the SM and taking DD with us. I have no intention of shopping on Christmas Eve, but we do have to drop her off at the hospital for her surgeon appointment and xrays.
Flora has a present, shhhhhhhhh, it's a surprise, but it is a stocking with treats inside:rotfl:
I can't think of any more ramblings/news at the moment, but ill be back before Christmas.
Take care
Much love

Candlelight- thanks for your kind words. I was in the office in Glasgow yesterday and ventured out around 2pm. It was so busy I was back at my desk within 15 minutes having decided to abandon any plans for picking up odds and ends. Less than half an hour later the news was getting through to us. What a dreadful think to happen. It's for the best that we don't know what the future holds.:(
FTM - cakes both iced
Well, it had to happen. We're due to go away for a couple of weeks at the weekend and every time we go on holiday we have a major expense at the last minute. This time the washing machine has packed in. It's 3 weeks out of the warranty and I can't even get anyone to look at it before mid January so I'll have to trail my washing to my mothers for the rest of the week. I know it's hardly a first world problem but I'm absolutely :mad::mad::. We paid more than we would normally when we bought that machine (£500 or so) in the belief that it would be an investment. How stupid!
I picked up my turkey at 7am this morning in the madness that was M&S. It's only a simply food store so not terribly big but there was a huge queue waiting for them to open. It was quite fast though and I was out within 15 minutes. I'll cook it tomorrow as I have never mastered the art of carving a joint unless it's cold.
I'm making mince pies now and I was about to have a glass of wine until I remembere I have a 6am spin class tomorrow morning so absolutely no wine tonight. I will definitely be having one tomorrow night.
So I'm off to set the dining table now. I may as well try to get ahead for Thursday. I'm working from home tomorrow so who knows what unexpected dramas may be heading my way based on current form!0 -
oh no SM, things always seem to go wrong at Christmas.
Well we have heating
Plan is to move cats and ducks on Christmas Day morning and stay there that night :j:j0 -
:santa2:HAPPY CHRISTMAS EVE everyone.
Sitting here relaxing, yes not rushing around like a mad thing. Turkey is cooked, beef will be cooked tomorrow and I cooked the gammon in the slow cooker yesterday(that will be for boxing day)
Pigs in blankets are prepared, as are the sausage meat and stuffing balls. I have the veg to prepare and the bathroom to clean, otherwise it is all systems go.
SM that was a near miss wasn't it, such a dreadful thing to happen.
Kate in your own home on Christmas night, what could be better?:j
Now I have some good news, DD went to see her surgeon today and xrays show the bone has healed, they want it to be a little more dense but they are very pleased. This is the best Christmas present we could have, and she is going to go for a little drive early Saturday morning when there isn't much traffic about . She hasn't driven since her op in February, so it will feel strange, but she will just drive round the block to get her bearings again.
I hope all of you have a lovely Christmas and a peaceful and healthy New Year.
Thank you all for your friendship during the last 12 months
Much love

Morning all
Had a lovely, relaxed weekend in the lakes, last year we went to Portmeirion for my 50th - so now have warned him that this has become traditionSo much better to be up a hill on Mad Saturday, or whatever it was called.
the food was sublime and they gave us the best room - touting for business and all that (OH "won" the weekend after being there with work - he paid the bill on behalf of the company. Hmmm, i wonder how "random" his win was)
back home and have purchased everything = just a couple of hours of house tidying and a little wrapping then we're done :T
Out for a curry tonight with friends and then just us four tomorrow. DD has been unwell (DS was unwell at weekend = but insisted he "wasn't that bad" and that we should still go, just a cold I think). Hopefully DD is on the mend.
Merry christmas to all - and thanks for letting me share this lovely thread .I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
:xmastree:..Merry Christmas everyone.
Candlelight..o i am so happy for your girl..it will be marvellous for her to have her car back again..:D..all i have to do now is hoover up ..everything else is done..turkey is good, ham is sliced, veggies ready, presents wrapped and hidden..tonight we are having a take away..its our treat..girls will be going for a walk with daddy later on to see the lights..this is the time i move all presents to the downstairs porch..much easier for us to set up later on.
SM..glad your cakes are iced..and its so annoying when the warranty has expired and machine plays up..am sure they only make things to last to the date of warranty running out..at least you have your mum to help you out.
VJ'smum..i am so glad you had a great time..sounds perfect and maybe it should become a tradition for you;)..hope your kiddos feel better.
Kate..o hun am so relieved your heating is working for you..i bet your so excited to spend a night there.
MLW..i bet your busy getting everything ready..i hope Ezra has a wonderful and magical first Christmas..did you have a nice weekend?

Hi everyone, we've been manically busy since we got home on Monday and DD2, Hubby and that Zebra arrived early evening the same day. They went back home mid morning today and guess what? that Zebra walked on his own right across the lounge this morning, best Christmas present I've ever had, we couldn't believe our eyes, magic times eh?
FTM the markets were magical , there was no snow and the weather was warm and damp but we had such a lovely time there. We stayed in a different part of the city and found we spent quite a lot of the time travelling from our hotel to the centre of Berlin and back again in the evening. We went to the opera and saw 'The Magic Flute' which was lovely, we went to our favourite markets and had a ride in the gingerbread house big wheel, we ate german food and found some really nice gifts too, some really pretty silk scarves for Nell and Ruthie, some slippers with whaley fishes on them for Zebra and some delicious chocolate things for the menfolks. It was a happy time and I'm so happy to have visited Berlin again, it really is a vibrant and pleasant city especially at Christmas time. How wonderful that Annie is expecting twin daughters, specially for Fern and Iris Oh my goodness it IS exciting isn't it?
Thank you all for being here over the last year, it really is a lovely thing to have a group of friends who support you and share all the highs and lows that life throws all our ways with such kindness and good humour, you ALL make life a much nicer experience and the warmth and friendship we have for and with each other is a gift beyond price so I'd like to wish each of you a wonderfully happy Christmas and a New Year full of all the best things that life has to offer, I'm lucky enough to have them already because I've got all of you as my friends, MERRY CHRISTMAS everyone, Lyn xxx.0 -
Hi lyn..its great when they walk for the very first time..so wonderful..i always cried.
O it sounds like you had a great time..the gingerbread house big wheel sounds good..and the Magic Flute..simply marvellous..
Candlelight..yes i know twin baby girls..how exciting..she is very tired though..on her feet all day but bumping up nicely..doctors are pleased with her so far..the girls are so excited she is having baby girls..
I had my little GD's here for the morning Hollie and Emma...so cute both of them..they all play so wonderfully together..i got some lovely pictures of them all together..so next year i will have 5 GD'S and 1 GS..will need bigger picture frames to fit them all in ..Emma didn't want to go home and sat with her arms folded and a scowl on her face for ages..i eventually persuaded her she had to go or Santa wouldn't know where she was and she might not get her presents..had to promise she could come back and play again..little cutie.
Right i have mince pies, milk and carrots all ready..girls are fast asleep and i am going to have a cuppa then sort out presents and bed for me..am so tired.
Have a Merry Christmas my friends..
love to you both
