Candlelight, don't know if you ever read Frugalqueen, but she has a GF diet and bakes and makes bead with GF flour

I have actually Jenny, thank you, and I know she makes pies and bread.
I am not ever so fond of pies (savoury) but I do like mince pies:), naughty and I shouldn't eat them, but I am going to have a go at making pastry, I know Frugal Queen says to use more liquid and I think she says in one of her posts that it comes with practice.
I was very taken with her GF fruitcake and I am definitely going to make that.
I appreciate it will be trial and error, but it is so good to feel well, even after a short time.
Thank you

FTM, sending hugs and best wishes. Thinking of you x0

Candlelight, not very OS I know, but M&S make delicious mince pies at Christmas time. I find Juvela the best GF flour and bread mixes to use though it is very expensive.Use it up, Wear it out, Make it do, Do without.0

AOT thank you so much for that. I will have a look for Juvela in the supermarket, and I don't mind if it is a bit expensive, it is just nice not to constantly have an upset tummy.
What date are you going into hospital for your op ?
Much love

Good afternoon all,
Weather still bright and breezy here today, although I understand it is set to change tomorrow.
I have just made Frugal Queen's gluten free fruit cake and my kitchen smells gorgeous. It takes about 2 hours to cook so will let you know how it turns out.
Went to get a few essentialsfrom the supermarket this morning and popped to see DD.
Not a lot planned for the weekend. Himself will be watching the grand prix on Sunday, but other than that might just decide how we feel.
DGS came to dinner last night but DGD2 texted me to say she couldn't make it because her teacher had told them they all had to stay behind to do a controlled assessment. As we were having a roast dinner (her favourite) I did hers, wrapped it in tin foil and a clean tea towel and her brother took it home for her. She texted me this morning to thank me
Flora is not happy with us because we have moved the sitting room furniture round, so she is having a bit of a sulk. I have tried to explain to her that living in this house she must expect things to be moved.
When I was younger I was always moving furniture, and Himself never knew what to expect when he came home from work, but I can't do it now, I just don't seem to have the same strength as when I was younger.
Have a good weekend everyone, and sending hugs and love to FTM , Fionna and all the FTM family, you have been in our thoughts.
Much love

CANDLELIGHT I too find that I'm not as physically strong these days as I used to be. I wonder if it's just getting older or the fact that we do so little physical work these days as we have vacuum cleaners, washing machines etc. to do the hard work for us? perhaps a little of both.0
-
LYN I think it is probably a bit of both, but even my wrists are not as strong but I put that down to years of typing and writing in birth and death registers I suppose a little like repetitive strain.
As someone said to me old age doesn't come on it's own, and how true is that. Of course in my head \I am only about 28, but my body shows me to be 69 !!!!!! Actually everyone says I don't look it but there again they could be telling fibs
Much love

I don't feel any different to how I did in my 20s either just happier with who I am in the world and my place in it. I guess we're lucky as I know lots of folks who are thinking themselves old, many of them younger than us and quite a few who say they have lived too long, and their money is running out etc.etc. Me, I think every second of this wonderful life is God given and to be reveled in and I'm going to live each one of those precious seconds as well and as fully as I can and appreciate this beautiful planet and the life I've been privileged to live and am still living for as long as I live, can't do better than that can you?0

Well said LYN me too, and I think if you have had a serious illness it actually makes you more determined than ever to make the most of every day. Enjoy your day at Ikea. When my new furniture is delivered I will need to go for a new rug, but I really don't know what colour until I have the furniture in situ.
I couldn't resist, I have just had a small slice of the cake, still warm, and it is lush. Froogs, if ever you read these threads, thank you, this is going to be a family favourite.
